Publisher's Summary

Marcus Snackenberg is a born ladykiller.

When Minnie Cooper moves back to her dad's hometown as a child, with her two brothers and Star Wars action figures in tow, they become immediate friends.

By junior high, Minnie, although unaware, is in love with him. Snack is completely in touch with his feelings for her.

Sometimes the villain in the story isn't a person. Sometimes it's time. And space. And fear. Fear of losing the best friend you've ever had.

Snack.

An overnight romance 26 years in the making.

    "Great narration, ok story"

While the narration was great, too many things in the story rubbed me the wrong way. I was not a fan of the hero or the heroine. I think even though they had a past, they moved way to quickly in my eyes in the present. Snack was a jerk to me. He got in his own way and prevented him and Minnie from being a couple.

On a good note, I really loved the narration. This was my first book from this narrator and I believe she did a great job. Look forward to listening to more books from her.

    "I want a Snack!"

This was such a good book. I was a little unsure at first because the narrator's voice is a bit 'little girl-ish' but it really ended up working great. I totally loved the story also and I wish I had read this book even earlier. I love the name, the book/audible cover. It all works so well together! Snack was Mini's (both nick names) one and only from first meeting, but things just never worked out for them to be together when they finally tried a couple of times throughout the years. Then years later, after tragedy strikes, they come back together and what a whirlwind that was. This story goes back and forth between the past and present to explain the entire story, from the time they first met at 6 yrs old until the present. What I loved about this also was that Mini wasn't a girly girl, she had a sailor's mouth. So you have a narrator that sounds so sweet and cute and Mini was dirtier than a lot of alpha men. Snack was an alpha man, but could cry and show his feelings as well. I love that in a man, when they can express their feelings. I just loved this story and will definitely have to find some more books by Emme Burton to read.

Yes, I would. It takes a while to get into it but it is a nice story.

When they meet at the train station with an injured Wookie when her brothers call Snack over and he asks "What's wrong with Wookie?"

What about Angie Hickman’s performance did you like?

She made the story come alive.

This audiobook was given to me for a honest unbiased review. This was an interesting angle for second chance romance. Not wholly in love with it, but do not hate it either. I do like that the characters new each other since they were children. I did not really like the whole picturing someone else when she was having sex, to get off. It seemed like she really did not want sex with that particular man, which if that was the case don't have sex with him. I loved the flashbacks to the past, was a great way to include all of the history between the characters.

    "Worth the Effort"

Loved it! This story grabbed my attention from the opening sentence (delivered beautifully by Angie Hickman's narration) and did not let me go until the very end. Some of the negative reviews were very well explained but in all honesty, I could not agree with them. These characters were engaging, likable and compelling. They each did what they did for understandable reasons that I found quite plausible. I will look for more of Emme Burton's work and hope to savor every syllable. I was provided a free copy of this work in exchange for this review, but would gladly used an Audible credit for the opportunity to listen to this work.

    "Delightful!"

This was a delightfully sweet story. I loved how nerdy, yet foul-mouthed, Minnie was. I also enjoyed Snacks undying claim on her. The narrator read the story well...pacing was good, and her emotion came across well.

I have to say that Emme Burton had some really great comedic lines too! She had me laughing out loud for sure, especially with the McGyver zip-lock line.

    I'd definitely recommend this book.

"Great story, not thrilled with narration"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Overall I would recommend this to anyone.

Did Angie Hickman do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

The narrator did a good job with the different characters. I did have an issue with her voice, and her portrayal of the heroine. "Minni". The voice is very whiny.

    Any additional comments?

I think overall this would be a good book for anyone. Wonderful storyline, plot, and characters.

    "Snack is delicious!!"

I love this story and these characters. Snack and Minnie are the stupidest, smart people I "know"! But growing up and figuring things out can be difficult. The key is COMMUNICATION which didn't always play a role between these two.

I love this story so much it's on my kindle, audible, and have a signed paperback! Oh, and a t-shirt and wide bracelet. Love Snack!! ❤

    "I LOVE THIS STORY"
What made the experience of listening to Snack the most enjoyable?

the writing. These characters are so complex and amazing. I want a wookie.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Snack?

    When snack comes to visit.

What does Angie Hickman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The way she has a voice for each character. OUTSTANDING!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

You are going to need more than a midnight of snack!

    "Sweetest second chance."

One of the best second chance romances I have read! I was right there in the middle of all the angst and drama they went through. And how many times my heart broke because they almost had it or made a poor decision.

The narrator did a great job distinguishing the characters. Loved it!!!

    "A Great 2nd Chance Romance!!"

I loved learning about the relationship of Minnie and Snack from when they met as children to growing up together.

This was such an easy listen, that I managed it in one sitting (well, while doing housework etc, lol). Angie Hickman did a great job of bringing the story to life.

I have other books by Emme Burton that I've not yet read, but after listening to Snack they're definitely going to be next on my TBR list.
