Publisher's Summary

He answers to no one... No one has ever truly touched Jack Travis's heart or soul...until Ella Varner comes along. She appears one day on his doorstep with fury in her eyes and a baby in her arms. Her troubled sister is the mother and, according to Ella, Jack Travis is the father. But when Ella demands that Jack take responsibility for the first time in his life, he ends up taking much more than that.... She trusts no one.... Ella Varner is responsible and controlled. Her childhood taught her that love is fleeting and best avoided. That is, until baby Luke appears on her doorstep after her reckless sister, Tara, abandons him. What Luke needs now is stability, and Ella's determined to do what is best for him. As her bond with the helpless child grows stronger every day, Ella goes to Houston in search of the father. What she finds there will change her life forever... And when things heat up between these two, the time for talking is long gone... Lisa Kleypas lets the sparks fly once again in a novel featuring the larger-than-life Travis family. Full of sizzling sensuality and undeniable heart, her storytelling will grab hold of you from the very beginning.

Loved it

I love almost all of Lisa Kleypas' books, and I've read quite a few. The Travis books, including this one, are among my favorites. I loved the characters, found the plot interesting, and enjoyed the resolution.

I hesitated getting this book because of the negative reviews of the reader, but I really enjoyed the narration. Her Texas accent may or may not have been authentic, but it was consistent, and worked for me, and she brought the characters alive.

Smooth Talking Stranger

I liked this one more than the others. The chemistry from the beginning was so clear and intense, I'm sure I wasn't the only one who felt it. Lol. Will listen to more from LK;)

Sweet story

I love a man that stands up to the plate to take a child that is not his own. In this case both main characters start out trying to help an unwanted child and end up finding long lasting love for themselves.

Love the Travis Series and I'm a Manly Guy....

What made the experience of listening to Smooth Talking Stranger the most enjoyable?

The ability to listen to it on my iPhone while exercising, and driving.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Smooth Talking Stranger?

When the Younger sister gave the main character custody of the child. And Ella's realization that she truly was in love with Jack when he was missing.

Have you listened to any of Emily Durante’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not sure, but she was pleasant to listen to and I think she did a great job of giving each character their own personality

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I really wanted to but it took a couple days.

Any additional comments?

Can't wait for the 4th book in the Travis series.

good writing. okay story. good performance

What made the experience of listening to Smooth Talking Stranger the most enjoyable?

Lisa Kleypas is an excellent romance writer. I thought the story line was okay and the characters to be interesting. I wasn't blown away by the story. Lisa usually writes historical romances so this is a switch for her. I think the performer was very good.

Good Premise that floundered

I was told "this is not the typical bodice ripper. It's a very good story". No, I'm afraid not. The premise of the story was promising, then it went away. If you're into to descriptive sex this book is for you. I wanted the story. It was a waste of a credit. I will not waste any more time on this.

I like romance stories, and I thought the characters were realistic.

What other book might you compare Smooth Talking Stranger to and why?

This book is comparable to many other modern romance books. Better than a lot of them.

Which scene was your favorite?

The shower scene.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Someone to Watch Over Me.

Any additional comments?

The only problem I had was sometimes she would use the same voice for different characters.

A great story

I enjoyed the characters, the truth behind so much of the family drama, the story was sweet and a tad lighter but that is exactly what I needed!
