Publisher's summary

On a splendid August afternoon, Susanna Osbourne is introduced to the most handsome man she has ever seen...and instantly feels the icy chill of recognition. Peter Edgeworth, Viscount Whitleaf, is utterly charming - and seemingly unaware that they have met before. With his knowing smile and seductive gaze, Peter acts the rake; but he stirs something in Susanna she has never felt before, a yearning that both frightens and dazzles her. Instantly, she knows this brash nobleman poses a threat to her heart and to the secrets she guards so desperately.

From the moment they meet, Peter is drawn to Susanna's independence, dazzled by her sharp wit; he simply must have her. But the more he pursues, the more Susanna withdraws - until a sensual game of thrust-and-parry culminates in a glorious afternoon of passion. Now more determined than ever to keep her by his side, Peter begins to suspect that a tragic history still haunts Susanna. And as he moves closer to the truth, Peter is certain of one thing: He will defy the mysteries of her past for a future with this exquisite creature. All Susanna must do is trust him with the most precious secret of all....

Contains mature themes.

Enjoyable

This was the best story in the series to me. The storyline flowed and had enjoyable twists and turns in it. The characters in the other two books in this series dialogue could be repetitive. Loved this one.

One of my favorites of Mary Balogh!

Simply Magic is simply perfect!!! Love, love, love this delicious story of blissful love. Something about the oh so handsome Viscount Whitleaf and the strong, enchanting Susanna. Just love them as a couple, and felt they complimented each other so delightfully. In every way, their love story does not disappoint and leaves you panting for more. A sequel please, perhaps detailing their marital bliss. Superbly performed and masterfully written. High recommend this one!

Good Story

I was looking forward to Susanna Osbourne's story. She wanted a Duke so bad. So it is cute how this story develops. All three of these books so far has the same theme, strong woman, man pursues woman until she catches him. Rosalyn Landor makes the stories good.

Better than last

It’s not that Balogh doesn’t have wonderful story lines, it’s just that she’s so long in the tooth. Coupled with a narrator that has a tendency to drag it out as well. Together, a big yawn BUT that was last novel. This one at least had a little more movement and story was good as usual.

Why the change in Susanna's accent in this book?

I enjoyed listening to this book and it flowed well. The only thing that puzzles me is why Susanna's accent has changed? In the first two books Susanna had a scottish (??) accent yet in her own book she has the accent of a polished english lady??? Slightly confusing if you ask me but overall still a great book!

wonderful getaway

I enjoy listening to Mary Balogh's books while I drive or work around the house. Her characters are thoughtful and likeable, and there is always a back story. Rosalyn Landor is a skilled narrator and makes these books come to life.

Lovely Magic

As always Mary Balogh takes me away. I have listened to every book you’ve had available on Audible. I must say selfishly, please don’t retire! What also is so important is Rosalyn Landors narration!! Her voice is so perfect for your stories! I have listened to other writers of this genre and couldn’t get past first chapter. Mary, look forward to every word you write!
