Publisher's summary

Blythe Coopman never imagined she'd be homeless, but a series of events has landed her on San Antonio's streets...hungry, tired, and scared. She clings to her most precious possession, a phone accidentally swiped from a local firefighter, who, instead of canceling the number, starts texting her. Soon, the man's calls and texts are the highlight of her days, but she declines his frequent offers of help. Blythe refuses to be his burden - until a vicious attack takes the decision out of her hands.

When the woman he's already begun to care for ends up in the ER, Sawyer “Squirrel” McClay is livid - and ashamed. He should have insisted she accept his help long ago. Now, he's not taking no for an answer. While his friends rally round Blythe, Squirrel's bond with her grows stronger by the day, until he realizes he'll do anything to keep her safe, healthy, and happy...even as his own lifelong insecurities work against him.

But despite leaving the streets behind, Blythe and Sawyer discover old dangers still linger, threatening to end the couple's new bliss before it's barely begun.

Absolutely loved it!!!

This is such an amazingly uplifting story! I had a feeling this was going to be a favorite of mine having met Blythe in an earlier book. Susan is such a fantastic storyteller and Blythe and Sawyer (Squirrel) are wonderful characters. There was no way to not fall in love with Sawyer. It’s very rare to find a hero who has self esteem issues and this made him all the more lovable and real. Blythe has been through hell. A tragic event in her life rendered her homeless and she had been on the streets for a year. Thankfully the first time he met Blythe at a fire he had been called to, he gave her his sweatshirt but hadn’t realized his phone was in it. This would turn out to be the lifeline she needed and the way he would eventually see her again. He had not been able to forget her.
All the wonderful men and women we have come to know in this series make appearances in this awesome comeback story. You will love Blythe and love her with Sawyer and how she fits in with everyone else.
Erin is such a great narrator and I love how she brings the characters to life! I love listening to books she narrates especially if they are written by Susan Stoker!!!

Another fabulous book by Susan Stoker!

So I'm not an audiobook person. AT ALL. But I am a Susan Stoker fan and since the audio for this came out prior to the ebook, I couldn't help myself and I ordered the book. First off the narrator for this story did a PHENOMENAL job. Usually, I visualize the characters in my head when I read, hence me not liking audio because then I have the narrators voice in my head rather than character voices. But Erin Mallon, the narrator for this book had me hooked from the very first chapter. Mind you, I was already 1/2 in love with the characters from Ms. Stokers other books but the depth and visualization that I was able to get while listening to this book was unique and awesome. Now Shelter for Blythe is the 11th book in the BoH series but somehow Ms. Stoker keeps making her characters better and better. This is Squirrel (Sawyer) & Blythe's book. It's unique in that although Squirrel may not be a 'typical' ALPHA hero, he still has that core mentality of one that we love. Blythe is spunky and funny and hasn't let the desolation of being homeless bring her down. She still has her moral compass and won't let any injustice she sees stop her from doing what's right no matter the consequences. Ms. Stoker also takes time to build the relationship between these two characters and it's a whirlwind ride watching them fall in love. I always say that "this" book or "that" book is my favorite out of Susan Stoker's books but somehow Squirrel and Blythe have wormed their way to the top of my list. This is a FANTASTIC book. Fabulous to listen to and I can't wait to add the ebook copy to my library as well. This is definitely a "re-read/re-listen" book!!

Such a great message..

This book hit me a little differently than other Stoker books. It is still written amazingly well and has a fantastic narrator, but the message behind this story is what impressed me the most. 💜

Erin Mallon an excellent narrator!

Erin is such a great narrator bringing the author's stories to life with action and passion . She really is a favorite and makes these stories and audibles so very tolerable. Thank you Erin. I am moving on to the next book in this series. Can't wait.

Excellent

What a great story. I appreciate the story sharing the life that the homeless women live. Many of our homeless are women and children and most of are there not of their choosing. The narrator did a great job. And yes, I did cry. Plus it was a wonderful love story.

One of my favorites

Wow finally getting to hear Blythe’s story. I absolutely loved this one. Found my self smiling and laughing on several occasions. One of my favorites even though it’s hard to choose which book is at the top but it for sure is at the top. You won’t be disappointed

Go Sawyer!!

4.5*s

There are people we meet in life that make you want to be a better person. There are those who when we meet them we just know they are one of “our people”. No matter the reason we bring hem in and let them give us hope, faith and a feeling of belonging.

That is what I see unfolded here for Sawyer and Blythe. They’re both battling their own insecurities and lives yet, they’re just what the other person needs to feel complete.

I love Squirrel (Sawyer) and have from the moment we met him. He’s the needy firefighter who has a witty sense of humor. He’s just the man Blythe needs in her life. He’s there to pick her up, brush her off and put her broken pieces together again.

This story doesn’t have as much “action” as some of the others but it’s not meant to. These two people have so much to over come and work through and I loved watching it play out before my eyes.

We finally get Blythe’s story. She has been a character has been in the last three books. Always on the edge but never the focus. It’s nice to see Squirrel’s alpha come out to play cause dayum!!!

Another great book in a great series.

I love this authors style of writing. exploring different "abilities" and the men who come to love them. She has created a sweet world of possibilities.
