Brady

What the hell do I know about raising a baby? Nothing. Not a goddamn thing.

Yet here I am, the sole guardian of my niece. I'd be lost if it weren't for Katherine, the beautiful girl who seems to have all the answers. Katherine, who's slowly finding her way into my cynical heart. I keep reminding myself that I can't fall for someone when we don't have a future. But telling myself this lie and believing it are two different things.

Katherine

When Brady shows up on a Harley, looking like an avenging angel - six feet, three inches of chiseled muscle, eyes the color of wild sage, and sun-kissed skin emblazoned with tattoos - I'm not sure if I should fall at his feet or run like hell. Because if I tell him what happened the night his family died, he might hate me.

What I don't count on are the nights we spend together trying to forget the heartache that brought us here. I promise him it won't mean anything, that I won't fall in love. I shouldn't make promises I can't keep.

✫✫ 4.5 Stars ✫✫

I really enjoyed this book. It was a feel good love story with light drama. I have a weakness for men & babies so I was in love from the beginning. While this book has tragedy it also has a great love story and hot sex. I really enjoyed the characters and I enjoyed the country setting very much. I will be checking out more by this author!

The narration was inconsistent which was a little bothersome for me. Both of the narrators are great but its read in the dual narration style, Brooke Bloomingdale's voice for Brady had a Boston accent and I loved it but Stephen Dexter didn't have an accent for Brady, it made the story feel a little off but didn't ruin the audiobook for me.

Loved the story, but the female narrator’s accent for the male character was distracting

I loved the story, and the female narrator did a great job with the female character’s voice, but her male character’s voice with the Boston accent was not good. What was especially odd is that the male narrator didn’t have a Boston accent when speaking the male character’s parts so it seems like she could have dropped that accent, and it would have sounded so much better. It was distracting and took away from a great story.

Great narrator

I have really enjoyed the whole series. Even though I heard it backwards. I either totally missed the “book 3” note on the cover of the first book I listened to or it wasn’t there. It would be nice if there was a way to get/recognize book one before book three. I still enjoyed all three books even out of order, just would have been a better series if read/heard in the correct order.
Stephen did a great job going between a Brooklyn accent and a Texas accent. Brooke did a great job with the Texas accent. You both did amazing work with all three well written stories.
The anguish, tears, and pain of losing a loved one was well portrayed in the first book. I liked the twisting plots of all three. The second book showed a growing love between two people that really needed each other. The third book had a very surprising story.
Thank you Lex for your talent and ability to write with such great tenderness, love, and intuitive reasoning of people who love people.

A beautiful slow burn

Brady Shepherd is a tattooist who also does body piercing at a parlor in Boston. He’s also temporarily helping out his parents with their landscaping business, hoping his brother returns from Texas to take over. However, when he gets a phone call that his brother and sister-in-law were killed in a terrible accident, Brady’s life is turned upside down as he goes to Texas to to gain control of their farm and one-year old orphan, Isabella. She’s being taken care of in the meantime by Katherine Duran, her young and beautiful nanny who also has many other business talents.

The tragedy that brings Brady to Texas underscores the entire story. He’s not only burdened by his grief over the loss of his brother but guilt over having argued with him about not returning to Boston and helping their parents. As he works tirelessly to keep the farm and business afloat, he’s also struggling with his attraction to Katherine, who is also receptive. In reality, she’s the backbone of the business, supplementing it with her line of natural body products she’s formulated. They work extremely well as a team so when their relationship turns personal, that feels natural as well despite the short timeframe.

There’s not a lot of drama, simply a slow buildup to the development of Brady and Katherine’s relationship as he finds himself moving further away from a return to Boston and the potential sale of the farm. It was lovely and sensual with baby Isabelle providing some adorable moments and comic relief as the three of them bond. I liked this couple who could have communicated better with each other about their true concerns (my one annoyance with the story) but never failed to express their true feelings about each other. I also loved the narrators as they so wonderfully captured the spirits and personalities of both Brady and Katherine and told the story nicely.

Overall, I enjoyed the story but you should know that it’s a spinoff of the Dearest series where Brady first appears. I would have loved getting his backstory but didn’t feel in the dark by not having read it first.

SO GOOD!!

I loved this book. The Narrators were great. Both had good voices with their male and female parts.
This is my first book by Lex Martin and I will look up more from her.
It was a sweet, fun, easy, and very sexy romance between these two characters.
Not too much BS and yes, you knew what would happen at the end, as these books do have an HEA ending.

I just really liked the pace of this book. It was a sweet slow start for these characters with a perfect build up.
This was a different type of story as Brady, this hunky tattoo guy has to take care of his brother's baby since he and his wife just died from a tragic accident.
The wife's best friend, Katherine is already living at the farm when the accident happens, so when Brady arrives there to take care of all the business and the baby, she helps him in every way! :-)

The steamy scenes are very well done.
Worth a credit and will listen to this one again.

4 "Lavender" Stars

After a long while sitting on my TBR list, I finally decided to listened to the audiobook of Shameless and what a great decision it was! I savored Katherine and Brady’s romance!

This is the kind of story that is just too sweet and sexy not to thoroughly enjoy. It had me smiling and laughing, but also blushing from the steamy encounters shared between this couple. I’m a fan of these small town romances with all the happy feelings they provide and this one was so good.

Brady is this sexy tattooed man with a heart of gold. He's sent to Texas to take care of things after his brother's tragic death and discovers he’s left the guardian of his baby niece, Isabella. Katherine, his late sister-in-law’s friend, lives on the lavender farm where he’s staying. Tha woman is such a beautiful soul; sweet and shy. I enjoyed how Brady made her so flustered at times with all his sexiness and she just spoke everything on her mind. She’s sweetly awkward! I really like this type of genuine character.

They’re both left broken hearted from the lost of their loved ones, but together they slowly mend their shattered pieces. They share some really touching moments together, where I was teary-eyed. They’re such a lovely couple and the way they effortlessly form a new family for little Isabella was utterly beautiful!

The narrators were so perfect for both characters. They embodied them flawlessly. The voices fit the personality of the hero and heroine to a T, with the right inflection and emotion delivered throughout the story. Lex Martin is without a doubt an author I need to read more of her back list stories, as this book was another winner for me!
