Another Good Story

I got this book via audiobook boom. This book is a stand-alone but is also a part of a series. This author knows how to complete a story yet give the reader the knowledge that there are more books to be read. Violet and Miles have been secondary characters in all of the other books but this is their story. The book address issues that women and em faced during that time. Attempted rape is one of those issues. It is done in a way that shows how God can heal even the most broken person. The narrator seemed to strain on some of the voices which is not the usual style of these books. It is still a beautiful book and well developed. Some parts seemed rushed but they did not take away from the overall story.

Shadow of Hope

Good book. I've enjoyed the series, this one was read by a different narrator, so I had a hard time adjusting. Although a clean romance, there was more details then most are, but I still enjoyed it.

Hope

I enjoyed listening to the book. Miles had loved Violet for 3 years, even though Violet broke up with Miles he still loves her. Violet was attacked twice by the same man, Miles saves her both times.

Shadow of Hope

Shadow of Hope
: Barbara Goss

This is book 4 in th Shadow series. I somehow missed the first three books. I'll have to go back and pick those up.

In this book Violet, Miles and Gavin are all trying to figure who loves who. It's a historical fiction set in Kansas. The listener will find their favorite character and cheer them on. There are a few suspensful scenes.

The narration was well done, with the exception of the pronuciation of Salina. It's "Sa--line--a" we aren't the place in Califörnia. It probably wouldn't of bothered me if I didn't live so close by. The characters were well portrayed. Scott Michael'ß voice was plesant.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Eyes Bigger Than Stomach?

Violet has found love but, in a rather modern conflict for its era but indicative of the strength of the woman, has been offered a job as a teacher (the calling she's yearned for) elsewhere and wants to take it. Miles' own career is taking off locally and he reluctantly agrees to a long distance romance. What he fears becomes reality as the fickleness of youth pushes Violet's exploring nature into an attraction with an older man and fellow teacher who has his own past and burdens. This love triangle results in some unusual actions and reactions and there are some side issues with other characters whose stories were told in previous volumes of this series. Because of the interrelationships among the characters, reading through the series will provide a depth of community and continuity, but this story stands well on its own.

I had the joy of listening to the well-narrated AUDIObook so the drama unfolded like a radio play. Since I don't do spoilers, you will have to read this for yourself to see with whom Violet chooses to make her life.

A sweet story of loss and second chances

Violet Jeffries breaks off her engagement with Miles Croft for another man who has caught her eye. But is it really love that she feels or is something else at work here? How will her life change when she gets close to the man who has enamored her?

Miles Croft has loved Violet with all his heart and after she breaks his heart, he vows to never lose it again for a woman. His trust has been broken, but will he risk again when he sees that the very woman who has broken his heart now needs him more than ever?

Barbara Goss continues The Shadow Series in this fourth book. She does a great job of both connecting her other books and yet making it a stand-alone for those who have not read previous books. This is the first book that I have heard Scott Michael narrate and I hope to listen to more! He does a great job of telling the story and giving life to the characters.

Note: This book was given to me and I have voluntarily given this honest review.
