Publisher's Summary

Dear listener,

Shades of Twilight is the story of Roanna Davenport, who grows up in a wealthy southern family but never quite fits in. She isn't pretty or popular, and she has a real talent for saying the wrong thing at precisely the wrong moment. She's in love with a distant cousin, Webb Tallant. But Webb marries their cousin Jessie, the bane of Roanna's life. When Jessie is found murdered, Webb is blamed for her death, even though there isn't enough evidence to charge him. Webb leaves town, and Roanna is left to pick up the pieces.

All of her life, Roanna has tried to win the love of her grandmother, of Webb, and of her extended family - and every time she's been slapped down. She's had enough. Roanna withdraws from the family, and that's when her grandmother, Lucinda, realizes how very important this misfit is to all of them. Lucinda tries to make amends to Roanna by setting in motion a chain of events that brings Webb back home. But the plan disturbs a killer who is set on vengeance - and this time, the whole family seems to be the target.

I hope you enjoy Shades of Twilight.

Sincerely,
Linda Howard

It's about time!

This was my first Linda Howard read that led me to all her other books. I loved the book and I love the audio. I'm waiting for:
'After The night' & 'Mr. Perfect'

soooooo.....come on people what are you waiting for?

P.S. the narrater was great.

Interesting ending

This book was very different...very slow start and I almost stopped listening. If you can get past the cousins dating and the father daughter sex (very creapy) the ending was a shocker. Not until the very end do you find out who the killer was and I never would have figured it out. Can't say I would listen to it again like I have other audiobooks...this was okay.

Excellent Narration

This is not my favorite Howard book by a long shot but Natalie Ross does an excellent job with the narration. I rate audio books on the narration not the story. Narration makes or breaks an audio book no matter how good (or bad) the story. Natalie Ross has been spot on in everything I've heard her do and it's a relief to be able to rely on her!

Generally a good story

I liked the story and the suspense, but could have done without the very long, explicit, sex "scenes". Story could hold its own without most of them.

Loved this audio!!

I love that Audible is putting Linda Howard's older books on audio. The narrator is great! Hopefully Audible will put Kill and Tell on audio.
Thanks Audible!!

What happened Linda?

I wasn't a fan of any of the characters. The family was a bunch of bullies. The heroine was a weak, annoyingly desperate fool, that had no personality. I don't understand why she never left her horrible life. Webb was a controlling, arrogant ass that I couldn't find any redeeming qualities. I don't understand why Jessie was the favorite she was so nasty, looks aren't everything. On top of all that the graphic incest was just too gross between the daughter and father, it almost made me turn off the audiobook. This wasn't the first book I have read by Linda Howard so I continued on hoping for it to improve, the second half was a bit better. Some of my favorite books by Linda Howard are Cover of Night, Mr. Perfect, Open Season and To Die For. I would recommend those books but not this book. I almost can't believe this is Linda Howard's writing. Narrator is really good unfortunately she didn't have much to work with.

What's up with all the incest.

What did you like best about Shades of Twilight? What did you like least?

This would have been a great book, except for the incest! They were cousins! I am from Tuscumbia, AL an have to put up with did you marry your cousin jokes a lot. This novel is one of the reason people think this way. If you take out that part of it this would have been a winner.

Good choice

I really liked this book when I read it. The narrator is okay and the beginning is a bit slow, but I loved it from about 1/4 of the way straight to the end.

One of the Two Best Linda Howard audio books.

Don't pass this up if you are a Linda Howard fan. This book and After the Night are easily my favorites.
Narration is always a joy when Natalie Ross performs.
This is a very good story. Howard at her best. I am not sure why there are negative reviews. This is undoubtedly worth the price or the credit.
Don't pass this over!
