IF U CHANGED THE NARRATOR/READ THE BOOK THEN......

Then, and only then, will you have a decent tender book about Lady Jess witnessing, (when she was still a naive young girl on the eve of her wedding) Lord Alistair (son of an Earl) earning money as he has sex with Lady ? during a house party. This act sticks with her and she fantasises about him for 7 years, even during her happy marriage to Benedict but unfortunately Benedict dies however he leaves her a plantation in Jamaica to sell.

She embarks on a ship that is being Captained by Alistair (who has always half loved Jess) and emotions, attraction, and sexual tension build as the 2 lovers cannot deny each other any longer..... But they still have to return to England. It's a hot yet tender tale of love overcoming all - including time.

The problem occurs as soon as Fiona Underwood (the narrator) opens her mouth and thus another good book is ruined. Thankfully I could distort her voice by double speeding her voice (he he he) and I actually got through it with my sanity intact.

Worth a credit? The book is but the narrator isn't and, as a fan of Sylvia Day's work, I feel robbed of a good book. So, I hope whoever is responsible for the narration will get this re-narrated quickly.

Just couldn't listen

What disappointed you about Seven Years to Sin?

Don't get me wrong i love Sylvia's books normally but this narrator I just couldn't listen anymore

Would you recommend Seven Years to Sin to your friends? Why or why not?

No

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Fiona Underwood?

The person who did Bared to you or any one. Fiona's narration kept making me think it was a English granny reading in a library to a group about porn

What character would you cut from Seven Years to Sin?

I only got 30minutes In

Any additional comments?

I may in future try a hard copy but couldn't do the audiobook it just didn't seem right to hear descriptive adult scenes with this voice, even the pronunciation was wrong just wrong

Disappoinment

Would you try another book from Sylvia Day and/or Fiona Underwood?

Actually I don't know. It seems like the author has a tendency to repeat herself.

What was most disappointing about Sylvia Day’s story?

The lack of warmth and genuine passion which I found in the Crossfire novels. Also that the author repeat both story and replicas from the Crossfire novels!

What didn’t you like about Fiona Underwood’s performance?

It's too theatrical. The characters sounds foolish.

What character would you cut from Seven Years to Sin?

All of them...

Any additional comments?

I listened to the end of the book, but now I will delete it from my library.
On the other hand, I will start over again with Bared to you...!

Don't bother!

What disappointed you about Seven Years to Sin?

Everything from the opening chapter. The awful language, the absolutely dreadful narrator, the plot. It was excruciating to listen to.

What could Sylvia Day have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Written more In the style of her other books like the Crossfire ones.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Fiona Underwood?

Anybody!
One of my pet peeves for narrators is when they obviously are just reading it cold and pronounce words incorrectly. For instance shone (as in past tense of shine) is not pronounced shown as in own and migraine in this book was so weird I had to rewind to make sense of the way she pronounced it.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not for me - I persevered for a while before i gave up but it put me to sleep and I felt no connection with the characters or gave any thought to them whereas characters in her other books had me thinking about them long after I finished the book.
I lasted about 1/3 of the way into the first volume and then just gave up. Life is too short to waste on rubbish like this.

Any additional comments?

Don't just churn out books to make money . Give them a little bit of substance.

Great Story

loved the book, tolerated the narration. all the characters sounded the same. it was easy to lose the line of conversation because the same tone, accent, inflection, and volume were used for all characters.

Great story - reader wan't my favorite

Would you listen to Seven Years to Sin again? Why?

I heard this was the "pre quel" in some sense to the bared to you trilogy. I'm not sure that is correct but i really enjoyed the story. I am not usually someone who enjoys literature where the characters are set so much in the past, but i did thoroughly enjoy this book. I would reccommend it to anyone who is a fan of Sylvia Day.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jess - such a strong character and to see her transform was truly a pleasure.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I thought the voice was a little too english - althought i know it was set there i'm not sure whether i liked the reader for this story,

Great narrator! Great story!

This was a super for me. I haven’t read anything by Sylvia Day and was so thankful for the straightforward story. No made up angst, fake engagement, just a real story about two people who were adults and faced their relationship like adults. Loved it.

Also I have NO idea what the bad comments about Fiona Underwood’s narration comes from - she was a delight and made the characters come alive.
