Unexpected plot twists

As a romance novel junkie for over 30 years, I was actually pleasantly surprised by a couple of the plot changes in this book. Robards did a good job on this story. Well worth the listen. Good narrator.

Good Story!

Unlike some I've listen to lately, "Scandalous" actually has a story worth listening to ... intrigue, scandal and romance.

It seems Justine Eyre's performance depends on the book she's reading -- she did well narrating "Scandalous".

Keep the Surprises Coming

This was the 1st Karen Robards Book I ever read and I go back to it again and again. The twists and turns in the plot keep the pages turning way past "lights out time" and I'm always biting my nails by the end I am just so nervous.
This is a great addition to any Historical Romance fans collection.

Typical Regency Romance.

I had read this book as a teenager and thought I really liked it. While I did enjoyed this book, it was nowhere as good as I thought it was when I was younger. Overall this is a typical regency romance. 3.5 overall it was and enjoyable story and would be a good book for a sale. I probably won't read the other two in the series. I tend to enjoy Karen Robards newer books that have more mystery in them. My favorites being Whisper at Midnight, One Summer, and Walking after Midnight. Narrator does a fairly good job.

Call me a hopeless romantic, it is true. I enjoyed this book very much and am lookiing for more by Ms Robards. I thought the narration was excellent. All in all, it did not disappoint.

unsuitable Narrator

Story was worth the listen but the narrator voice tone and inflections sounded like a 17th century valley girl. Very grating.

The ending has holes (slight spoilers)

The ending has a lot of holes and doesn't really make sense for their future. If you think about it, their lives (whole family) are still rather ruined and they'll never be able to re-enter society since they aren't allowed to explain/reveal the truth to the public. They'd have to live isolated - not really a happy ending.
