Publisher's summary

After a mission goes wrong, Aric Savage is taken prisoner. Half-dead and despairing, he makes a stunning discovery: His Pack-mate Micah Chase, who was reported dead, is a fellow captive. When the Alpha team goes into full-rescue mode, accompanying them is an absolute stunner with sable hair - and a spine of solid steel....

LAPD officer and Psy Dreamwalker Rowan Chase has one priority: her brother Micah's recovery. Still, she can't help but be drawn to Aric, the ruggedly handsome wolf shifter who pleasures her as no man ever has - however fleeting their affair is destined to be. But when Aric's life is endangered, Rowan must ask herself what she's willing to sacrifice in the name of love, for the man fated to be her Bondmate.

Critic reviews

"In a genre with werewolves aplenty, Savage Awakening leads the herd with its strong character development and intensity. The story is well told, with powerful, dominant characters. Dark and sexy, it's hard not to fall in love with the Alpha Pack." ( Romantic Times)

SECOND SLICE OF THE SEXY SUPERNATURAL SEAL SERIES

Great second book to add to the brand new series about sizzling hot and handsome ex Navy SEALS now in a top secret Alpha pack made up of men who are were-shifters of one kind or another and there's Sorcerers and a Sealy Prince too. They are each gifted with a different supernatural power when they were turned which helps as they battle against evil paranormals.

Aric, a were-wolf shifter and member of the Alpha pack, has been captured and experimented on, along with other members of the team, but there's and instant attraction when Rowen (an off duty LAPD cop) stumbles across him whilst she secretly becomes part of the rescue team and it leaves Aric brooding and battling against his mating urges.

A hot and emotionally charged action packed plot with sub plots filled with interesting and amusing characters who all help to invigorate and bring tension and passion to this listen. This series has a similar feel to JRWard's BDB with quick and witty one liners together with the loyalty bonds formed from the 'brotherhood' fellowship.

Looking forward to Black Moon - book released in December - which is Kalen and Mackenzie's story.

Worth a credit? A paranormal/romance fan's dream listen - so that's a definite YES.

5 Savage Awakening Stars

I love Savage aka Aric! Now normally I would be like dude really, really you’re going to be all macho man and not give all the facts. Butttttt on the other hand I respect his choice.

Ok so lets’ back track a little Aric was taken and experimented on, and that was freaking HORRIBLE! But him being taken lead them to Micah and not to get all woo woo or anything but if he hadn’t been then one they wouldn’t have found Micah as they did or have his sister come to the compound.

So all things happen as they are supposed to, Rowan is freaking bad a – s – s and I freaking loved that about her! She really doesn’t care what people think of her she is there to help save her bro no matter what, and her job means a lot. She isn’t willing to compromise who she is for anyone. But she totally would for a wolf if he would just speak his dang mind!

I really enjoyed this dynamic that he wants to protect her and didn’t want to put pressure on her but here come my DUDE speech … really, really???? No macho man stuff it doesn’t do anyone any good. ;)

Really am digging this narrator she can do male voices pretty well. I love how you can feel her words that’s a gift.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Very Good

This one does not disappoint. This series interests me so much due to all the different species. It's well written and it holds my interest and it makes me look foward to the next book. If you love the paranormal I'm sure you'll love this. Just make sure you get book 1 first.

Not as good as book 1 but a keeper

I totally love this alpha pack.. Now we have the events from the end of book one leading this story... Eric gotta pay his dues... He spends all of the beginning of this book held captive and being tested on... I loved his rescue.. Great action scene..

Don't really like his mate... I get she is suppose to be this tough cop but I just don't like her attitude about the whole wolf shifter thing, even when she finds out her brother is a shifter... Also she has been a dream walker her entire life, so why freak out about shifters...

Narration was superb!

Great credit or buy if u plan to invest in all the books in the series... These are not stand alone... Better if read in order... So I recommend credit this one...

Bland and Formulaic

After reading the 1st book in the series, I was under-whelmed and hesitant to continue. Reviews were stronger for the second release so I was hopeful the story would pick up. I did not find that to be the case. The characters are well-developed and that is a plus. The over-arching premise is good and that's what ultimately enticed me to continue. I think it's the pace of the plot that's dragging it down. It's slow and predictable. Also, while I usually like a good dose of sex along with my paranormal romance, I found myself just fast forwarding through those scenes in this book. While the promise is there, ultimately the story just doesn't deliver any excitement. I've been on quite a paranormal listening streak lately, and I can think of at least a half dozen other books I'd rather go listen to again rather than continue in this vein. As far as the narration goes, the narrator has a style of delivery that isn't very nuanced. It's very forceful, deliberate and at times unnecessarily dramatic. While she gives each character a distinct voice which I fully appreciated, there's an overall tone of either derision or disgust with maybe a pinch of anger. So many sentences seemed to end in an implied "G*d d*mn it!" Sometimes that's appropriate for the content of the conversation, most of the time, however, I wanted the narrator to dig deeper and find the nuance and subtlety. Overall, not a horrible book, just horribly average. I'm going to pass on the rest of the series.

Predictable!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The first part yes; second half, definitely not. Although the book is definitely better than the first, it was predictable at best.

Would you recommend Savage Awakening to your friends? Why or why not?

Not really! I thought that I would be able to get into the series, if I tried listening to the second book, given my dismal review of the first one. Unfortunately, it just didn't work for me.

Would you be willing to try another one of Kirsten Potter’s performances?

No

Was Savage Awakening worth the listening time?

Sex, Sex, Sex

I am so disappointed in this book. The first one was quite promising and I was looking forward to this read. The main story line which carries through both books is good, the characters are likeable, and the reader does a really nice job. Sounds like a great formula for a light read when you don't want to think too much. This book however came completely off the tracks when the author decided to use one sex scene after another to fill pages. On top of that the "love" story in this book followed the exact same formula as the first book and is completely overdone in this genre. Come up with something original already!

The bottom line is that I am not interested enough in the story line to live through the sex and love denial crap to read another one of the books in this series. I would suggest the Jane Yellowrock series if you want something with a lot less sex and a strong heroine who deals in the supernatural.

OK for a Werewolf story

Would you try another book from J. D. Tyler and/or Kirsten Potter?

Her general plots and characters are not bad, but the immature dialogue can stand improvement. The swearing adolescent macho male werewolf attitude gets tiresome. I like the other characters, and that keeps me coming back for the rest of the series.

Would you recommend Savage Awakening to your friends? Why or why not?

No, I do not think any of my friends would tolerate the immature characters.

Have you listened to any of Kirsten Potter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

same

What would have made this romance irresistible?

If the angry macho males would grow up.

HOT AWAKENING!

I thought Savage Awakening is just as good if not better than Primal Law in a lot of ways! I really liked how Aric isn't whom he seemed in the first book...he so much more!

As Aric struggles with blaming himself for getting his team in trouble those six months ago, he ends up finding his mate in the sister of one of his fellow pack members...a member that was abducted because of him. Knowing how arrogent Aric was in the first one, I was really surprised to see how tender and unselfish he was in here. The emotion and honesty he shows are truly honorable...and he is definitely a favorite of mine now!

While I like Kirsten Potter a lot, I still like her better with the highlander books I have listened to. In here, I often got confused between the characters, not sure who was talking to who because she doesn't really change voices much. Despite that however, the steamy scenes, which are many :) , were well done!

The characters in this series are only getting better...and I really look forward to the next book, Black Moon, that focuses on Kalen. He goes through a lot in this book, and I am really anxious to see what happens next.

Love the series!

Would you consider the audio edition of Savage Awakening to be better than the print version?

I like to try new authors, however, I take my lead on who to try based on the narrators that I like so well. That gives the author a better chance to excel as it provides me with a voice I trust. This series is great in story line, mystery, romance, and you find yourself wanting to know more of the individual dynamics of the other pack members. I have all of them now and have listened to all of them.

What did you like best about this story?

The emotion and loyalty of the members in this group who stand together in spite of odds that would intimidate most heroes in a novel. The twists and turns are great.

Which scene was your favorite?

Where they find out the other pack member has been held captive

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Several

Any additional comments?

You will enjoy reading / hearing this novel. It is a great book and you will want to have all of them. Lucky for you, they do not have to be read in sequence so feel free to start with any one of them.
