Publisher's summary

Small-town beauty queen Jenny Fillmore is a survivor. In the wake of having been kidnapped by a madman, she's managed to put her life back together, complete with a successful career and a serious boyfriend. But, when her first love returns and hires her as his real estate agent, old wounds are torn open, making Jenny question whether or not she has the life she wants. It turns out broken hearts don't heal so easily and old desires don't always fade with time.

Professional baseball player Adam Hamilton didn't expect a career-ending shoulder injury. Thrown a curve ball in his prime, he returns home to Warm Springs and the one woman whose heart he broke to pursue his sports dream. But earning Jenny's forgiveness won't be easy. What he and Jenny once shared was real, but she's moved on. With the new man in her life, time isn't on Adam's side.

a second-chance

I really enjoyed this sweet second-chance romance. Adam and Jenny were fantastic characters. Great narration!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. The fact that I was gifted this book had no influence over my opinion of it.

Great story

The story was such a sweet love story but the narrative was terrible. No pause at periods or the end of paragraphs, no emotion in the reading. It certainly took away from my enjoyment.

Great Second Chance Romance

I loved this story!! A great second chance romance with a sports theme. This was the first book I have read/listened to by Christina Kirby and I am going to have to get my hands on the first in this series. The narrator Maryann Carlson did a fantastic job. This was a good light hearted romance that was just right.

The story was quite good. There was several moments at the beginning of the story that I considered stop listening, due to the narrator. She sounded too stiff to do this book. But I am glad I stuck with it. This was a good light hearted romance that was just right.

Second chance romance

Any additional comments?

I love small-town romance stories and sports-themed romance. Running Home is the story of Jenny and Adam. Adam was offered the chance to play professional baseball and left Jenny behind. Ten years later, he's retired and back looking to buy a home. Adam returns and begins pursuing Jenny immediately, but the relationship takes a while to get going since Jenny is with someone else. This was an okay story for me. I received a copy of this audiobook for an honest review.

Fun and Sweet Second Chance Romance

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was excited to read Running Home, and I wasn't disappointed! I really enjoy Kirby's writing, and her stories are entertaining. I listened to the audio version of this book, and although the narration is a bit robotic, I still enjoyed the experience. In Running Home, there's a second chance romance aspect that I loved! Jenny and Adam were each others first love, they dated for quite awhile, but Adam got an offer to play pro baseball, and the two had obstacles get in the way. Adam gets injured, and returns back to his hometown. Jenny is a realtor, and Adam is looking for a house. Adam still cares deeply for Jenny, and despite Jenny thinking her life is where she wants it, she still cares for Adam. I loved that Adam knew what he wanted, and he wasn't going to let Jenny hide from how they feel for each other. I liked him, he's a good guy. Jenny is feisty, and I understand why she's hesitant with Adam. I do think they whole James thing goes on way too long, and the fact that Jenny doesn't realize it sooner was a bit of disappointed about it. Overall though, I liked her. She's strong, but vulnerable too. There's some heavy make out scenes, and mention of sex, but there's not too much detail. I'm good with either way, and I liked the way Kirby wrote the scenes. There's also dual POV's, which I really liked. I also loved seeing how the characters from the first book are doing. Fun, sweet, and interesting! Good read!
