Publisher's summary

This Cinderella didn't plan on a prince...

Kat MacTaggart is a girl who has a plan for everything - including her holiday ski trip to Monterra with her best friend. Everything is going according to plan until she finds herself careening out of control down a mountainside and being rescued by a guy who looks like Superman's hotter Italian cousin.

HRH Prince Nico is intrigued by the woman he saved on the slopes and her refusal to date him. He offers Kat a deal - let him show her his country and he'll pay her to write articles that will help Monterra's tourism industry. Kat agrees, but given her past and lingering distrust of men, she has one condition - absolutely no kissing.

Thanks to the claims of a jealous British noblewoman and the schemes of a meddling paparazzo, Kat's rule doesn't seem to be a problem at first. But the more Kat gets to know Nico and the people around him, the harder it is to remember her keep-your-distance plan. Should she stick to it or risk everything for a chance at happily ever after?

Royal Date

Sigh, boy do I love a good love story, this book had it in spades. I loved the Cinderella aspect of it. It was sweet and the narrator does a fantastic job with all the characters she really brought them to life. I could see the story playing out behind my eyes.

This is a clean romance and usually I don’t like those because I feel like the story suffers and it really isn’t real. But that couldn’t be farther from the truth. The author does a great job with the balance of sexual tension but without going over that line.

I can’t wait to get started on Lemon’s story and her accent alone and the way she speaks I know it is going to be a great story.

Subtle Profanity undermines an Excellent Story

I always enjoy HEA and when a woman finds her prince, but what I don't like is the use of profanity, even when it is in "urban" vernacular to disguise it. The term "frak" was not necessary (especially multiple times throughout the narrative) and does not bring more dramatic emphasis to the plot nor enhance the story. Other then that, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. The narration was a lovely addition, since I read this book a year ago. Thanks Audible for finally providing the first book in this series in an audiobook.

Excellent narration, great fairy tale

I have now read quite a few books by Sariah Wilson; I think the first was The Ugly Stepsister Strikes Back. I know ahead of time to expect a modern take on a well-known fairy tale. Sometimes - like with this take on Cinderella - that's exactly what I am in the mood for.

This was one of those books that I alternately read and listened to. I listened more to this one, because Brittany Pressley is such an excellent narrator. With a command of several regional and foreign accents, Pressley uses her diction to convey the essence of each character. I especially liked her voicing of Serafina here, which captured the buoyancy and joy of a 7 year old Italian little sister. (With the sequel, which Pressley did not narrate, I think I read more than listened.)

Delightful!

This was such a wonderful book. It does have a few serious topics that are discussed, but overall it is lighthearted and kept me gripped to the end. The narration was superb. And I loved the voices she gave to each character, including the prince.

I have been in a reading “rut”
for a couple of months, and this book just pulled me out of it. Hooray!

Reader superb

I loved the story but I felt like Brittany Pressley made it come alive. She is excellent with the different voices. Sariah Wilson ought to have her read all of her books. Loved, loved, loved it.

Love the story…

I love Sariah writing, but I am going to keep this simple. Please redo without the god awful accent!!!! I usually don’t complain, but it’s so hard to listen to terrible accents in books. 😢

Very, very sweet story

No surprises in this sweet Cinderella-esque story. Though I am typically drawn to a steamy romance, it is occasionally nice to break from the norm and listen to/read a lovely story sans sexual encounters. Christians would be comfortable with it, and be pleased, as well, with the religious aspect as it is inclusive of morals and the royal family’s devotion to the church. There are a few villains, but only minor angst.

Royal Date is a heartwarming story and so very apropos for the Christmas holidays.

sweet but implausible

good for mindless entertainment but don't think too much about it because the holes in storyline are easy to spot.

A new Princess Diaries

I really enjoyed the story. Thought that the Narrator made Nico sound a little like Dracula but I was impressed with her abilities overall.
