Publisher's Summary

Felicity Forrest has the perfect job as an investigative blogger for Everyday Supernatural. This curvy girl gets sent to the Aran Islands to find out whether a púca shape shifter is responsible for the strange accidents haunting a construction site.

Niall O'Leary is tall, broody, and totally alpha. His mission is to discover why the veil between the human world and the Realm has lifted. And as the chieftain's son he must find a mate or his twin will be promised to a stallion he despises. He has a duty to his family, his clan, and a need for offspring. Otherwise the púca could become nothing more than folklore.

Passion and frustration ignite when a curvy human female tempts his inner stallion like no other. There's only one problem...She just got out of a relationship that left her heart broken.

Is she ready for a second chance at love?

Great

This book was actually good. I thought it was going to be boring. But it wasn't. Great story. I cracked up when she said naill was a hot bloody horse LMFAO.

And my guy "friend" said he wish he was a horse so he can sex a women like Naill. Talk about hilarious lmao.

But I definitely enjoyed this story. When I started I didn't want to stop listening to it. Definitely worth the read. Maybe thinking about reading the other stories to the series.

Can't wait to see what happens next!

I received a free audible copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is my first A.C. James book and I very much enjoyed it. It was also the first book I've ever read that involved pucas (or a horse shifter of any sort). I really enjoyed all of the particularities surrounding pucas and puca mating. I particularly enjoyed that the mate must be able to ride the stallion to be eligible as a mate (a.k.a. able to bear puca offspring). That added caveat of determining a true mate was also very interesting. Felicity is a strong, independent woman who, while self-conscious and with somewhat low self-esteem, she is comfortable in her own skin (she just doesn't think it possible for any man to find her truly attractive being a BBW). Cyn is her best friend, a plus size model, and her companion on her assignment to investigate the puca hauntings in the Aran Islands for her blog, Everyday Supernatural. Cyn is just along for the ride for a birthday get-away. Niall is a puca male who has never wanted a mate and only agrees to take one to keep his twin sister, Mariosa, out of a promised mating to another puca male who is, quite frankly, a complete jerk. He is sent across the veil to investigate why it is open before Sowen (and to find a human mate) along with his friend Thomas. The instant Felicity and Niall spot each other, they are enchanted, particularly Niall's stallion. This book covers Felicity and Niall's adventure as she shelves her blog assignment to help him investigate why the veil has been opened when it shouldn't have been (along with their budding romance). This book is intriguing with a story line that will pull you in. While this book is a culmination of the various parts of the Ride series, it also puts me in a good position to highly recommend these parts be read all together. Each individual part will leave you with only part of the story and a huge cliffhanger. While this culmination of parts has a HEA ending for Felicity and Niall, there is still a cliffhanger and I am incredibly interested to know what happens next!

Lovely book about opposites attracting.

Felicity writes a paranormal blog. She is sent to the Aren Islands to do a story on a puca sighting. She takes her best friend Cyn along. At a pub she looks into the eyes of Niall and feels an immediate connection. Niall feels it also. Felicity is recovering from a bad breakup and has no intention of possibly getting her heart broken again. Niall has no intention of committing to a long term relationship. Really enjoy how the author moves the dual attraction along. It is impossible for them to resist their feelings. They must go through soul searching, danger and near loss to fully connect. Great world and character development. Love the narrative.

I had no idea what to expect and was delighted

What did you love best about Ride?

The interplay between the two worlds. Bringing the old in with the new. Hot sexy hero who falls hard, the soft curvy lead female who is strong willed, independent and yet yields enough to find love.

What did you like best about this story?

The legend of the Puca. I had never heard of them before

What does Erin Mallon bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her voice is full of emotion. She really brought the characters to life for me.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I had planned to. I was listening while on a long road trip. I ran out of road and had waited until the return trip to finish it.

Great series

I really enjoyed listening to this series. I'm not generally a "shifter" kind of reader but this story was really good. It kept me interested from the first episode!

The narration was awesome.

I'd recommend it!

Something different

The story is a breath of fresh air. Pukas, horse shifters. I apologize for the small SPOILER, I hate spoilers. The one thing that grated was when the sister's shifted form was referred to as a stallion. A female horse should have been a mare. The narrator has a wonderful British accent. She was very easy to listen to.

Ride

This was an interesting and engaging book to listen to. I have never read / listened to a story about a puca shifter before and this author is also new to me. I enjoyed this story. The author weaves a wonderful story full of emotion and suspense. Felicity and Niall go through a lot in their story. Felicity finally gets the adventure that she has been looking for while she writes her supernatural blog. Niall finds something that he was not looking for ; a mate. I enjoyed the way their relationship took shape and it was nice to see the two fight for love. Their story flows at a nice pace and we get to see their attraction turn into something deeper as their adventure goes on.

What a Ride

So much better listening to an accent. It brings the story life. I loved the ebook, but the accents took it to a whole new level. I hope Erin narrates the rest of the series.

Any additional comments?

Episode 1: Awakenings
Felicity Forest has a great, although lonely, life; she has friends that are like family and a job that she loves and pays the bills. The only downside is she still suffers from the aftermath of an ended emotionally abusive relationship and has trust issues. She take an assignment to investigate a supposed Puca haunting on Inis Mor and gets much more than she bargained for when she meets Niall O’Leary. Tall, Dark, and handsome doesn’t even begin to describe the sex god, and she has trouble accepting he sees anything in her, but what he sees gets his stallion going and he soon follows its lead…but he rushes it and she leaves him high and dry, not to mention VERY unfulfilled, standing naked in a field. WOW! Amazing start to this serial cannot wait to read the rest!
Episode 2: The Bet
Felicity’s memory of the night before, when she rode Niall and left him in the field, has been erased. She still does not realize he is a Puca. Nevertheless, Niall is fully on board with his stallion in taking her for a mate now. Meanwhile the investigation into the rising of the veil continues but has not revealed much, only that it is somehow tied to the local priest and his brother and that the witness to the hauntings is lying about it! Niall and Felicity grow closer and he realizes he much tell her who and what he is and convince her not to write the article that would expose him and his people; he returns her memories but she insists that she needs to see the stallion…and that’s where it leaves off for part , now I have literary blue balls!
Episode 3: Out Cold
OMG!! Deceit, deception, misdirection, allies? Enemies? Just when Felicity and Niall think they may have a good lead on what is happening with the veil they discover they have been lied to and misled. He convinces her to come to dinner and more than the stove gets hot! Unfortunately, worse than a bucket of ice water Fallon calls to tell Niall Maeliosa is missing. He and Tomas go to search and Felicity receives a message to meet the injured construction worker Dillon at a secluded location, stating that he has physical proof. Fearing he may mean Maeliosa, she sets off without Niall and realizes too late going alone was a really bad idea. WOW! Kept me engrossed until the last page, could not put it down!
Episode 4: The Veil
Felicity and Maeliosa find themselves held captive by Caitlyn and Dillion and the word kill is being bandied about. Fearing Niall will not find them in time; Felicity is determined to not become a victim to greed (Archer wants the Puca exposed to bring in tourists to his resort) and decides to try to rescue herself and Maeliosa. Maeliosa makes it but Felicity is grabbed by Archer and then beaten by Dillion and her only thoughts were that she might never get to tell Niall she loves him and wants to be his mate. I am not saying if Niall makes it or not, have to read it but I will say WOW! Great ending! Kept me engrossed until the last page, could not put it down! Looking forward to season 2 for Cyn’s story!
Audio:
Erin Mallon has an incredible voice, great diction, perfect tone and pitch! A pleasure to listen too!
