Publisher's summary

Maxwell Jameson Trevor, prince of Lilaria, hates his royal role. Despising the limelight, he takes solace in his art studio and steers clear of any drama. But when one of the newly discovered royals passes away, Maxwell's brother Alex asks him to break the news to the old man's granddaughter. Though he hates to be the bearer of doom and gloom, he doesn't want the poor girl to find out from the tabloids. For Maxwell knows all too well how devastating that could be.

Coming from a broken home and modest background, newly ordained Lady Meredith Thysmer has seized her chance to make a better life for herself and her son. She's not afraid to use her best assets to get what she wants. But when the unpretentious yet devastatingly handsome Max delivers his news, her plans for the future come crashing to a halt. In the challenging days ahead, Max's compassion, humor, and steadfast loyalty to Meredith and her son win her over. She quickly finds herself doing something she swore would never happen again: falling in love. And yet Maxwell still refuses to completely drop his guard. Somehow Meredith's got to find a way to seduce this reluctant royal.

Oh what a different brother!

I love the characters here, with Marty and Chadwick teaming up to add a special bit of extra spice! It’s a real, royal and funny story.

The spice is slow burn, then explosive

Loved it

This audiobook was perfectly read. The narrator is excellent and loved listening to her. As for the book … I wish there were more! The characters and location and everything royal. Makes you believe that a place like Laloria can exist.

Great Ending to a Fun Series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would certainly reccomend the audio book to a couple friends who also enjoyed romance. This series and the narrator truly created a new world for me to enjoy for a few days and I would be happy to share that world with a friend.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I would have to say my favourite character would be Max, he was the right amount of kind and flawed. He had a great backstory and I was happy to learn more about him.

Recommended

An excellent different story for this very different brother of the royal family. I was a little skeptical about reading Max's story. He is so reclusive and although protective he also seemed a bit like an ornery bear. I was wrong. I wasn't seeing his compassionate, stubborn streak. He comes across so strongly about not taking up any royal duties that when he steps into the royal role it surprises everyone, including himself. I really enjoyed getting to know him and Meredith.

So romantic

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book. Never heard of the author but thought I'd give it a go. This is a sweet romantic book. I love that it gave some honest thought to alcoholism within the family and that it can happen in any income bracket. I love the relationship of the royal siblings and how they took Meredith under their wing along with your young son. I really loved the sweet romance between Maxwell and the Meredith. Two reluctant royals.

Fun

Very enjoyable. Short but fun to read the entire series in a row. Love the interaction between the siblings.

Pretty Disappointed

Loved the first book. Liked the second one. This one was utterly lacking. Other than one brief scene where Max mutters in his native tongue this could have happened in any country. I was barely paying any attention the entire story. Struggling through. This was just riddled with cliches- prince that hates being royal. Abusive alcoholic father. 6 year old boy that acts like a baby one moment then says something profound the next. The main characters didn’t seem real.
