boring

If you like your books 95% uninteresting and then all of a sudden in the last 45 minutes one ridiculous sex scene then maybe it's for you. I felt that this book was really young adult with a 30 second random adult situation tossed in. The story is about mages and magical people who are being killed off because unmagical people feel threatened. Then 2 children are allowed to live. The girl being kept as a slave for her abilities and the boy because he happens to be the bastard son of a powerful man. Most of the book they live there lives separately till the last hour. The h saves a kitten, the H is trying to make the world a better place. She's 9 and he's 30 when they meet the first time, so the whole book they do their own thing till they meet again when she's 18.

why is the mc always afraid

of his own power after one incident? that part is getting to be too cliche.

Much better than most books in this genre. Great plot, more intricate than the norm. Well written characters. I will definitely be purchasing the next book in this series.

Just the absolute best story. Everything I like to read about and more. Such a great story I will read again and again. A keeper!!

A truly epic sci-fi romance w/ powerful mages!

For anyone who likes Star Wars and sci-fi romance, you will love this one! The author has created a new galaxy far, far away with detailed culture, politics, and magic usage. The early part of the audiobook (about 2 hours) is quite serious in tone because of the slavery and attempted child killing that happened to the main characters, but later some witty dialogue and humor lighten the mood. The slow burn romance is marvelous. Eventually, the few love scenes get kinky and ultra steamy. The characterization, dialogue, romantic development, pacing, and action scenes were all top notch! I love the spunky, independent-minded heroine Nalini and the broodingly determined hero Kai. I also love how this couple’s story is completed in this single book. I totally recommend this to everyone who likes steamy sci-fi romance and/or steamy PNR.

The Eris species is just like humans except they are 6 inches taller, have more endurance, and there is magically gifted person is born in 1 out of every 500 million births. These magical users can be telekinetic, telepathic, foreseeing, etc. The most powerful of these mages can access the energy around them, like Jedis in Star Wars. Nalini and especially Kai are among the most powerful mages in the galaxy. There is a terrible, King Herod-like situation going on. For the last thousand years, there has been a prophecy that a powerful dark mage will be reborn and threaten civilization. Therefore, there is a law to kill every mage as a child when they first exhibit their powers. This sets in motion the phenomenal plot in this awesome sci-fi fantasy romance. Don’t miss out on this audiobook, romance listeners!

The audiobook is exquisitely duet-narrated by Ava Erickson and Shane East. Shane East has a rich, sexy, deep voice. He gives Kai a gorgeous English accent. Ava Erickson breathes life into Nalini and all the female characters. These narrators did an absolutely perfect performance. They deserve awards for this one.

this book was a little harder to stay into there's a good story the narrator did pretty good.

loved it

Loved it! The story is engaging and especially narrators were great. Cant wait for the second book to be recorded and hopefully by the same narrators.

I really loved it

This book was quite refreshing. I don't know what'd you call it, lore, maybe? The lore got a little boring and wish washy but didnt stop me from enjoying it. The narrators were good together but sometimes there were pregnant pauses during back and forth dialogue. Nothing horrible though. I really recommend this book.
