Not a bad novel, but not a good narrator

According to Nora Roberts website this book was first published in 1983, So it was written very early on in her career. I wish the first publishment dates were listed in Audible, it would make selecting books from some authors a little easier. Since this was one of her earlier novels it's not as strong as her later books like The Villa or her Gallaher series. Despite that, it stands up well next to most romance books by other authors. The character depelopment isn't as strong in this story - especially concerning the male love interest - and it didn't have as much humor as her later books. Still, it's a decent enough story. The narrator, however, makes this story an almost painful listen. She reads with a voice that seems to be geared to toddlers; stretching out words and exaggerating expressions. At the least it was distracting, but mostly it was aggravating. I doubt I will listen to this a second time and I don't think I'll buy the sequal book to this one. (I think the title for the next one is Dance of Dreams.)

All NR books are not created equal

I have loved NR for years and have enjoyed equally her early and more recent works. This book did not live up to the standards that I expect from a NR book, and the narrarator was terrible.

Good story destroyed by the narration

I am sure if I would have read this book that I would have enjoyed it... the narrator destroyed it... it made the charactors sound like complete nerds... her inflection was awful and her phrase stresses changed the intended meaning. It is sad.

Performance lacking

Didn't like the voice of the main character, she sounded like an old lady, very distracting to the enjoyment of this book.

Too breathy for me!

Narrator ruined the story. Could not get over my irritation with the breathless and overly dramatic narration in order to finish this book.

Boring and Predictable

What was most disappointing about Nora Roberts???s story?

The story line just went no where!

Which character ??? as performed by Ashley Adlon ??? was your favorite?

I didn't have one. All the characters were very boring.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment.

entertaining read

In this boy meets girl, sexual tension story . . the life of a former ballerina is explored. I enjoyed looking at things through a ballerina's eyes.
