Publisher's summary

A sizzling new stand-alone contemporary romance by New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Katy Evans.

A bad boy with something to prove. A woman with a mission. The race of their lives. The love of a lifetime.

I don't think his parents expected him to live up to his name - Racer Tate - but once he felt the adrenaline rush behind the wheel, he was addicted.

He's the fastest, fiercest driver around.

Scouting new talent brings me to his doorstep...but his smile sends me to my knees.

The sexy, mysterious Racer Tate is not the kind of man a girl like me falls for. He's secretive, reckless, elusive. But his proximity pushes me beyond reason, and his kiss....

This is our last chance to win, and he is our only hope. I'm supposed to watch him - make sure he doesn't get into trouble. But it's an impossible task. And now the one in heart-wrenching, toe-curling, soul-crushing trouble is me. Because when your heart belongs to someone, their truths become your own, and their secrets become your salvation...or your curse.

He says he wants me. He says I'm the one. But he also thinks he'll break my heart, one piece at a time, until it's gone.

Racer

I love Racer as much as I love Remy. These 2 guys are the perfect alpha males.

Fantastic!!!!

LOVED this book! Racer was everything! If you loved Remy - you'll love Racer. The chemistry between these characters was fantastic! Racer knows what he wants the moment he sees it and goes after what is his - I loved him so much! I loved everything about this book! Perfect narration!

Grace Grant is so bad

This is my first review of a book ever. But I was just so frustrated with Grace Grant narration, when she did a male voice sometimes it felt as joke it was that bad

Hard to get through

The female narrator was so irritating to me. When she tried to take on the male characters they all sounded like old men. Sebastian York sounded too old for the part of Racer but he was still better than the annoying voice of Grace Grant. I really hate to say this because I am a big fan of all of Katy Evans books. I just hope she doesn’t continue to use this particular narrator again. I will not buy anything she does.

Story okay but female narration is terrible!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

This story was a good insta love story but..... and i really hate to say this and give a low score to Narration and believe me this has nothing to do with Sebastian York! I usually will listen to anything by Sebastian York and this is completely why i purchased this book. Grace Grant on the other hand annoyed me when she attempted to speak in the male narrative. Her voice sounded choppy and that possibly Racer had a disability because the dialog was so slow and there were breaks in between each word. It was irritating and ruined the story for me!

Disappointed

I love Katy Evans and her books! This book I read first and couldn’t wait to then listen to it. I was so disappointed in the performance of the woman’s voice I almost couldn’t get through the whole book. I love the man perspective but when I woman would do Racer’s voice it was just plain awful!

Gotta love SebYo!

4.5 Crazy Ass Stars!!!

I haven't read the Real series prior to this so I can positively say that this is a standalone. However being the book whore that I am, I will be reading the previous books. I need to know more about Remington and the other characters mentioned in this book.
So I recently read Moto by M. Never and this book had some similarities in the beginning. In Moto, there are racers but of the motorcycle kind. Racers nonetheless. We also have Kayla (Moto), like Lana (Racer), who refuses to get involved with racers albeit different reasons. Then we have Reese in Moto who is a racer with health concerns just like Racer Tate. While they're different in nature, there is still that similarity. That is where it ends though.
It was a bit of dejavu in the beginning of the book and a bit hard to get into this story with all the comparisons I had floating around my head. I powered through and when I got passed it all, I devoured this book.
It was shocking when Racer's condition comes to light. He is flawed but beautifully so. You will not be able to help but fall for him. Lana was fun, sweet, and her actions when things are out in the open made me love her all the more.
You want to know what made this book for me. The narrators. Sebastian York and Grace Grant nailed the characters. You gotta love SebYo!
Katy Evans is a fave of mine and I look forward to delving deeper into the Real series.

“Racer” a sexy⭐️inspiring “Remy” fix

I lived Katy Evans “real” series , especially Remy ‘s story and Brooke & Remy’s story. I have listened to those first 3 books at least 3-4 times! And was SO EXCITED. To learn and know of their so. “Racer’s” story!
The negatives first; the female narrator did a horrible job with any male voice she portrayed, it was painful but I plugged away. The only other negative was I was hoping and expecting to have more involvement from Racer’s parent (Remy & Brooke) simply to find out more about his childhood, details of the family dynamics etc. those were my only 2 negatives that took review from 5 to 4 ⭐️’s ! I believe Racer’s story would have been knocked out of the park so to speak if we get flashbacks or vignettes of his childhood and how Remy & Brooke dealt with him and each other through it. Would have completed the circle for me so to speak, and not made the book feel short.
The POSITIVES; storyline was terrific , characters interesting, Racer had so many of Remy’s qualities you couldn’t help but love and root for him! The object of his affection Lana has a nice character storyline as well. And Sebastian York made Racer as yummy and Real as Remy!
You don’t have to read whole series to listen to Racer but DO!!!! Listen to “Real”, then “Mine” and “Remy” you WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!
I can recommend the book which also is series called “ Treacherous” which gave me the same “feels” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Okay...

I liked the story, but the female narrator let the book down. She talked too fast and was way too stiff for the book. Sebastian York is always good though, so that made up for a bit of the horribleness of the females voice. I’m not sure if I’d recommend using a credit on this one.

So Disappointed With The Narrator

I have all of Katy Evans books. I adore her writing. I loved the Real series on audio so I didn’t think twice purchasing Racer. I’ve got several other audio books narrated by Sebastian York, and he’s fantastic. But I hate admitting this, the female narrator ruined the story for me. Her voice was fine when she was reading for Lana, but when she read as Racer it was like somebody switched the playback to slow motion. It sounded ridiculous and it was really off-putting & annoying. Especially since everything else was great. I’m honestly really surprised Audible would release a book like this. I don’t know if Katy Evans had any say but if I were her I’d be so ticked off because I’m not the only one that noticed this from the reviews I’ve been reading. I bought the audiobook right when it became available so there weren’t any real reviews to read as a warning. I absolutely won’t waste money on another audiobook she narrates after hearing this one. I’m sorry, but i just can’t believe no one heard her sounding so deep voices and SLOW. Omg, so slow! It really spoiled the story for me.
