Publisher's summary

Columnist Bridget Hartwell agrees to write about BDSM to impress her new executive editor at Sultry, the "sex-positive magazine for sex-positive women." Unfortunately, it's a topic she knows absolutely nothing about...but if she ever wants that promotion, she'll need to learn the ropes, fast.

English professor Max Harlow is active in the Dom/sub scene, but only for casual play. He's never found his ideal partner: a woman who is his equal, but sexually submissive. When he's asked to explain the lifestyle to his cute but obviously inexperienced neighbor, Max is certain it's best to approach it academically-to keep things purely professional.

Until Bridget's first article is a huge hit, giving her the perfect excuse to delve deeper into the naturally submissive side of her sexuality. As their encounters intensify and each of her boundaries is skillfully pushed, Bridget must decide what this all means...for her identity, her career and, most importantly, her future with Max.

I want more!

About half-way through this audiobook, I searched to find other books by this author. Now I have to wait until her 2nd book makes it through the publishing process. Too bad for us! Purely Professional was wonderful! The narrator did a good job, too. Accenting the appropriate syllable and words within the sentences to be true to the authors word choices.

I don't want to give away the plot, potential readers can read the summary for that. I just want to say how much I enjoyed this book....content....delivery....concepts....plot development...characters (just enough for this 7+ hour listen)...wow! Good stuff, and all reasonably believable...enough so that I wasn't laughing out loud when the author didn't intend to be funny! :)

So, Ms. Winters, you have a new fan. You've made my "buy everything list". Thank you, and I look forward to your next release!

pleasant.. very good.

Ok I liked this book it had some very good kinky stuff in there... it's not really all that realistic for the BDSM world but it was a fun story. not as hard core as I usually read but still very tastefully done. The narrator was good but a little stiff with the hot parts... she needed a little more passion when she read it. but other than that over all very good. I recommend this book to anyone who's looking for a fun little read.... oh and I will be listening to more by this writer.... it was good for a start... lol hope the next one will be just as fun.

Mostly about the sex, but the sex was worth it

This book was lots of fun, very sexy, just not very deep. I enjoyed it, and if you like this sort of story (you get pretty much exactly what's on the box), I'd recommend it for an easy read. I have a few nitpicks which you can read below, but they're honestly pretty minor.

Plot- wise I felt like there was set up for more conflict with her workplace regarding her pseudonym, so the resolution there felt a little bland. Then on the other end of the spectrum, his response to her using her safe word was. . . ugh. I have to take issue with it. I don't buy that he's been "in the scene" for any realistic amount of time if that's how he takes being stopped when his sub is uncomfortable. She was right to call him out about his behavior. However, they moved past it really dang fast. ಠ_ಠ Also, there was no discussion of the importance of aftercare, and what there was felt a bit perfunctory.

Honestly, my biggest issue was with the narration. The narrator has a good voice and for the most part got the emotions spot on, but she over enunciated certain words in a really bizarre manner. I got thrown for a loop every time she said "mercy less" rather than "merciless", and she over emphasized vowels on a number of different words. For example, she pronounced "lethargy" as "lə-THAR-jē" rather than "leth-ər-jē". There were a few other times that made me think she only knows the words from reading them and has never heard someone else say them outloud before.

These are not big problems. These are really just things that annoyed me. If you enjoy this genre, you will probably enjoy this book. If you don't enjoy this genre, I don't know why you're even reading reviews.
