Publisher's summary

After a massacre decimates half his team and leaves him crippled, Jaxon Law must relearn how to fight-and battle the anger and guilt threatening to overwhelm him. But when he rescues a beautiful woman who awakens his primal instincts, Jax is unprepared for the dangers that lie ahead.

On the run from her employer, brilliant lab assistant Kira Locke has evidence that leads the Alpha Pack on a hunt for someone targeting human civilians with Psy abilities. And as Jax and Kira circle both the killer and each other, Jax will have to decide if the deep connection he feels with Kira is worth breaking the ultimate shifter rule-because bonding with Kira means putting his abilities at risk, and they might be the only tools he has to keep his mate alive.

WOW!! REALLY GREAT START TO A FANTASTIC NEW SERIES

This book has everything, ex Navy Seal were-men with supernatural 'gifts', genetic experiments, shape shifters, bad guys, sex and romance. J D Tyler throws more strange characters with weird abilities into the story as it unfolds and they can be brought forward to be part of the story or left in the background for another book. It reminded me of JR Ward's BlackDagger Brotherhood or Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld. So if you loved them then you will love this new series I am sure.

The narrator did a good job too.

These books are going to be an automatic download for me, now I just have to be patient and wait but it could end up a series of at least 7 or much more mmmmm delicious.

Unsatisfying Ending

As the title suggests, this is the beginning of a series. While an incomplete story is expected, I find most authors find a way to give the ending a sense of completion while still enticing the reader to continue with the series. This one lacked a sense of completion. It might as well have had "To Be Continued..." at the end. Also, I usually like a little sex thrown in with a story, but I found these sex scenes tiresome and unexciting. Fortunately, the overall story had just enough interest to it that I think I may buy the next in the series--though with some hesitation. The slightly better reviews for the second release are enticing me. The narrator did a nice job. It kind of cracked me up that she used such a serious voice. Talking about shape shifters and secret government experiments is serious business, people! It didn't take me long to get over that and just to get into the fun of it, and she definitely brought the characters to life. If you've never read/listened to other shape shifter fiction, there are better options for a newbee. If you listen to audible books a whole lot and are exhausting your options, this is not a bad choice.

Mixed feelings

Would you try another book from J. D. Tyler and/or Kirsten Potter?

Probably not. The sex in this book had me wishing they would just finish so the story could continue. I'll have to find a book that doesn't go so overboard.

Has Primal Law turned you off from other books in this genre?

I like the subject but the sex episodes were too explicit for my taste.

Which character – as performed by Kirsten Potter – was your favorite?

Kira

Any additional comments?

I enjoy books about shapeshifters and mythical beings. This book was interesting and would I would have enjoyed more story and less sex.

Mediocre shifter story.

Unfortunately this was one of those books that just didn't float my boat. I like the background that was created, but the characters just didn't get me all that excited. Although I didn't hate the characters, I just didn't like them overly and was debating to even finish the book. I mean the first sex scene had Jax smelling of another woman, and like an idiot Kiara didn't even blink an eye when she jumped into bed with him. It didn't feel sexy to me, but a wham, bam thank you ma'am. The second half of the book was an improvement and I might be willing to try the next book, but I will probably wait for a sale. Of course I have read/listen to much worse and stayed the course. The narrator was wrong for the part, although she did a good job it just seemed like she wasn't the right fit for these characters. I do like shifter books and I recommend Suzanne Wright, Thea Harrison and Nalini Singh.

Awesome Wolf Pack Series..... instant download

This book was soo awesome... I have re-listen to this like 20 times... so my review is kinda late... but an instant download for all of J.D. Tyler's wolf pack sereis...

This series have totally alpha male wolves who were once in the Navy Seal, they got bit by rouge werewolves and now they work for a secret branch of the goverment to stop all the paranormal criminals...

They each have gifts beside being wolves, like this book is about Jax who is a pre-cog, with a bum leg... Jax's girlfriend Barrel betrayed him and his team of Alpha pack and got their leader and a few team members killed....

6mths later, Jax finds his true bond, Kara and brings her to Alpha pack base, with their new leader Nick and the rest of the Alpha pack team. He don't know Kara is his true bond mate, but he gets all ALPHA possessive about her.

It is filled with action, love and smex! I love the smex, wolf style... I gobbled this down in one setting. So different from other wolf stories... The plot don't really center around them being wolves, but it actually does because they are called Alpha pack. The way it's written, you hardly even notice the wolf thing... it more about the plot and action surround the wolf pack. Loved it!

Narration was top notch. So many voices, for so many characters. You can totally tell who is who just by the voices used. I mean Potter is a pro, a real pro. Just to even have Potter narrate means, you know this is gonna be one great book. Potter is one of those narrators who seem to only narration awesome books, like Xe Sands, Shirley Rae and Jim F.

This is a buy, credit or sale. Either one...you can't go wrong!

More Story makes a better book

I have found that in the past, when a book has lots of sex in it, the reader gets a weak story.
This book is a perfect example. I was interested in the premise. Shape shifters, Navy Seals, intrigue, I couldn't wait. Should have waited. For every interesting event, sex, the description of sex and/or body parts attributing to sex introduced. All right, already. Get on with the story...
Kira sounded competent and determined. She lost her way, big time. The rest of the group were very disappointing.
If you like the "Bodice Ripper" scenarios, this book might be for you. Otherwise, don't waste your time.

Great New Series

Would you listen to Primal Law again? Why?
Most likely. I enjoyed the book enough to listen again. Not all books are worthy of a second listen. Also, I thought Kristen Potter did a really good job with the narration.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Primal Law?
When Jaxon is hurt and very weak from not mating. It was so memorable because of Kira's reaction. It was extremely sad and I couldn't help but cry. Another memorable moment was when Jaxon and Kira realized they love each other.

Which scene was your favorite?
When ChurpChurp (?) was sleeping on Kira's stomach, Jaxon came across them. In that scene, he knew he loved her. Also liked how he became close to ChurpChurp.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes, made be laugh and cry.

4 Primal Law Stars

I guess I read this book back in 2014 and to be honest I couldn’t remember it at all.
And listening nothing really jogged my memory of it. So it felt like a completely new book to me.

That being said I rated it a 5 then and today I am going to rate it a 4. I really enjoyed the book don’t get me wrong but there are things I am kind of scratching my head about.
Jax and Kira I love that she challenges him and that she isn’t afraid of him, well she was but her instinct about him really was spot on.

I am not a fan of the doctor and I get it she has a past but her attitude got me all protective for Kira. And I know she didn’t need it because she actually liked the doc but for me something about her just rubs me the wrong way.

Jax getting his feeling hurt when Kira was venting out her emotion I wanted to smack him and be like ‘dude, this whole thing has tilted her world upside down, give her a freaking break’ but of course I can’t smack characters lol.

Over all I enjoyed the set up, and all the new secondary characters and what the books based on. Think I might have to do book 2 to see how it’s all is coming along. Because this book just kind of sets up the series. I did like how smoken hot the scenes were not going to like I love that about shifter books the hotter the better I say.

The narration was good took a little bit to get used to be she does a great job keeping you engaged in the story.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Oh!!! All kinds of creatures!!

Lovely, first of all we have werewolves, then all other kinds of creatures. I love a book that incorporates creatures of all kinds. This is the best book I have listened to in a long time in this genre. I cannot wait to get book 2. So many things are going on with the various creatures and I want to know all of their stories.

This is a wonderful series. The paranormal genre lovers out there will love this. It’s so worth a credit.

Too much sex that seems to distract from story.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Cut back on the sex scenes. One description of mating is good enough. Should be a rabbit pack not wolves. Seemed to detour the story.

Would you be willing to try another book from J. D. Tyler? Why or why not?

Possibly not sure yet. Storyline has promise but sex scenes repeated over and over a "turn-off".

What about Kirsten Potter’s performance did you like?

Did well with what she had to work with.
