Publisher's summary

All it took was a flick of the wrist. A deft touch of his sword point and Drake the Dragon bared her bound breasts. Then with the heat of his hands along her skin, he bared her soul. All the wantonness Jacquelyn had denied herself as a famous courtesan's daughter, all the desire she'd held in her heart while running Lord Gabriel Drake's estate flooded through her at his touch. Not that she could let a bloody pirate know it.

Gabriel may have left his seafaring days behind, but his urge to plunder was stronger than ever. Especially if it involved full, ripe lips and a warm, soft body. Unfortunately, he needed Jacquelyn's help, not her maidenhead, to learn how to behave properly toward a lady so he could marry and produce an heir. Yet Mistress Jack was the only woman he wanted, no matter what her heritage. And everyone knows what a pirate wants, a pirate takes....

poor reading

the character voices sounded like text to speech. it really detracted from the enjoyment of the story.

Very fun book and listening

If you could sum up Pleasuring the Pirate in three words, what would they be?

Fun Sexy Romp

What was one of the most memorable moments of Pleasuring the Pirate?

When said pirate found out he couldn't trust his 5 nieces not to roast him alive.....very funny...and Daisy is my favorite as well...what a charming little heathen.

Have you listened to any of Megan Kelly’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not yet but I will watch for her in the future

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but it took a couple of days to get it done

A pleasure to read

Would you listen to Pleasuring the Pirate again? Why?

It was easy to listen to...a very pleasing narrators voice made what could have been slightly boring much more interesting.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Stories set in different cultures always make for intersting reads. The descriptions of the geography were very well written and performed.

What about Megan Kelly’s performance did you like?

The fluctuations of her voice kept the story from being too melodramatic and brought candor to the characters.

Little slow

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Reading is always well spent, but wont read/hear it again. The narrator is ok, but no accents... I need british or scottish or irish for my pirates!

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I think better for contemporary or westerns

Could you see Pleasuring the Pirate being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

I recommend many others before this one... not enough pirate in this book.

Could not get past the reader.

I am sure the story was a good story, but having listened to many different narrators by this time, I certainly have my favorites. I just could not get by this narrator's monotone and lack of inflection which ruined the story for me. I skipped ahead just to get the "gist" of the story because it was too painful to listen to.

Really bad narration

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

While the narrator (Megan Kelly) has a pleasant voice, her mispronunciation of many words, was difficult to listen to. She sounds uneducated. I might be able to understand mispronouncing solar and chatelaine, but calling the Thames the "Tames" (hard a) was bad enough. The one that made me cringe was viscount, which she pronounced viz count.

I did enjoy the story, but if this author doesn't get a different narrator, I won't be buying it.

What did you like best about this story?

It was very fanciful, with a feel-good ending.

How could the performance have been better?

An educated narrator.

Wow, was I ever disappointed.

What did you like best about Pleasuring the Pirate? What did you like least?

I liked that it was a good old fashioned bodice ripper, just like the title suggests. What I didn't like was the performance. All the mispronounced words, the inconsistency of pronunciation and the fact that I couldn't tell one character from the other. Some of the characters spoke in dialect, and those particularly sounded uninspired and passionless. Really, if it's going to take place in olden days of England then use an accent, or hire one.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Jack a lot. She's spunky, but oh so human.

Would you be willing to try another one of Megan Kelly’s performances?

Nope.

Good Story Bad Narrator

The narration was awful. The narrator couldn't quite get a Cornish accent so settled on a bit of a cajun one for some of it but gave up.. She should have given up all together on the accents, it would have been tolerable then.

The story however was good. I will be looking for more books from this author as long as they get a different narrator.

Too Many Mispronounciations

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Wanted to listen, but the mispronunciations drove me crazy. I mean, it's a pirate book--the reader should know how to pronounce pirate words like buccaneer and mariner.

Would you be willing to try another one of Megan Kelly’s performances?

I would it there was a better reader.

First time the narrator completely RUINED it all

I do not like to give bad reviews on narrators... because much of the time it can just be personal preference. But I seriously couldn't even believe my ears. Sometimes narrators say words differently because of their nationality - this narrator WOW - she mispronounced too many words to count. I am not claiming to be a Rhodes scholar, but the narrator comes across as uneducated. I'm not saying she is - but she seems very uneducated about historical terminology and English nobility. She made Gabriel (the male lead) sound like a robot...not good in a romance. It was so terrible. I truly couldn't get past her narration. I bet if I had listened with another narrator I would have given the story 2.5 - 3 stars. The story wasn't the best ever - but to pass the time cleaning it may have been tolerable - BUT NOT the case with this narrator. Do NOT waste your credit or money. Seriously - don't do it. I should have listened to the other reviewers....narration is that bad.
