Publisher's summary

Bestselling author Terry Goodkind's epic Sword of Truth series continues with the next stunning installment, Phantom.

On the day she awoke remembering nothing but her name, Kahlan Amnell became the most dangerous woman alive. For everyone else, that was the day that the world began to end.

As her husband, Richard, desperately searches for his beloved, whom only he remembers, he knows that if she doesn't soon discover who she really is, she will unwittingly become the instrument that will unleash annihilation. But Kahlan learns that if she ever were to unlock the truth of her lost identity, then evil itself would finally possess her, body and soul.

If she is to survive in a murky world of deception and betrayal, where life is not only cheap but fleeting, Kahlan must find out why she is such a central figure in the war-torn world swirling around her. What she uncovers are secrets darker than she could ever have imagined.

Epic edge: listen to more in the Chainfire Trilogy and the swordtruth series.

More Sam!

Mr Sam Tsoursouvas is by far my the best narrator in this whole series. You should just take everyone else's recordings, throw them away, and rerecord them with Mr Sam! Oh, and the books are great, thank you Terry Goodkind. You've kept my enthralled since book one!

Doesn't Suffer Middle Book Syndrome

Would you consider the audio edition of Phantom to be better than the print version?

I have the dead tree version of this book. I wish I could say I picked it up and started reading it. But my time was short and I wanted to maximize my time. So, I purchased the audio book which I listened to in the car. Wow! Am I glad I did. This is an excellent story with a strong voice performance.

What did you like best about this story?

I was so happy to finally read about Kahlan's plight. At the end of Chainfire we find out where she is and who has taken her. In Phantom we find out so much more. I was moved to tears at the way she was treated and how her image of herself is worn down during the course of her travels.

What about Sam Tsoutsouvas’s performance did you like?

Mr. Tsoutsouvas's performance it excellent. His interpretation of Emperor Jagang was spot on. When he roared in anger Mr. Tsoutsouva opened up and embodied this character. There is also a scene when Richard addresses his troops. The strength of Richard and his conviction came through so clearly I actually had chills.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Phantom - Love Never Fades

Any additional comments?

So many times a middle book is used to reinforce the structure of the story established in the first book. As a result not much happens. This did not happen in Phantom. The story progresses and we watch as our main character's lives are turned upside down.

Captured in every book? Come on now...

This series is really good only problem is that every SINGLE book Kaelyn or Richard is captured and it's starting to get ridiculous. Once or twice in a 15 book series would be fine but 13 - 14 times and that whole book is centered around the capture and their magical escape? I think instead of capturing them he should have made the Seeker of Truth go on Quests For Truth instead of escaping b******* that would never really happen once in a 5 year period let alone the 20 times it has in this series...

Great book

If you have made it this far in the series, you already know it is a great book just in that it has a great author.
