Publisher's Summary

He's been her ultimate untouchable desire.

Nothing says happy birthday like a rock god flying thousands of miles to surprise a woman he's never met. But that's exactly what happens to Gabi Smith when she gives her long distance best friend a flippant invitation to her laid back girls' night out. She never expected to turn on the dance floor and find Blake Kennedy's gaze holding her body captive.

She's his everything and he's never laid eyes on her.

Gabi means more to Blake than life itself. She's his strength, his savior, and the only person who helped to vanquish his demons. No one means more to him than his angel. So when things between them start to sizzle, he's ready to fight for the future he never thought he would deserve.

Skeletons from his past will threaten his only chance at love....

Blake has come a long way - with Gabi's help - to leave the hell of his youth behind him, but sometimes memories don't want to stay buried. Determined to stand on his own for once, Blake is willing to stretch the truth to keep his troubles from burdening the woman he adores.

Little white lies can create black holes in any relationship. Only time will tell if an Aussie with a heart of gold will forgive her bad-boy boyfriend or if the deceit will end his passionate addiction.

Passionate Addiction is the 2nd book in an entertaining Reckless Beat series by Eden Summers. I loved Blind Attraction (the first book in this series) and really wasn't sure I could like any of the others better. This is a good follow up book.

    "An addictive series"

I haven't listened to the first book in the series; however, this story was a great stand alone, with no cliffhangers and HEA! Blake is a member of the Reckless Beat band who has worked hard to overcome a drug addiction. He turns towards an online group for support where he meets Gabi through one of the online chat rooms. She's there to listen, support, and help him through the hard times. Gabi's passion to help others overcome their addiction is fueled by the loss of her brother who died of an overdose. Blake and Gabi develop a special friendship that continues for several years, and when they finally meet in person the sparks and chemistry fly. These friends to lovers relationships is going great until Blake's past catches up to him. He wants to handle the situation secretly, so he pulls back from Gabi out of guilt. She senses something is wrong but will she be able to break through his walls before it destroys their relationship? This rock romance was an emotional roller coaster, and the narrators both did a great job! I received this audio book free for an honest review.

    "Refreshing Rocker Romance"

I loved this as much as the first in the series. I totally dug the love between Gabby and Blake and how they both really trusted each other from the beginning. Now, of course, there needs to be drama, so enter the ex-from-hell. She's a poor little rich girl you'll love to hate in this refreshing love story set in the world of sex, drugs and rock and roll. It was nice to experience a story where the "dumb move" wasn't "Who the hell would do that?" stupid, and the reaction to it wasn't a ridiculously inappropriate freak out. The love story is a bit fairy-tale-ish while still maintaining a grip on reality. I also love the supporting characters, and I'm intrigued about what might be coming around the bend. I am really looking forward to more in this series!

DC Cole keeps getting better and better. He gives great gritty rock star, though I am sure he is awesome in other genres as well. I loved Josie Minor as Gabby. She was perfect. I liked the two as a team. Their voices complemented each other nicely. Overall, a great listening experience.

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

Eden Summers... you've won me over with this book. No instant-love here. A skillfully built history that lead into a passionate relationship. The anticipation of what they were heading for hurt to the point of wanting to stop... but of course, I couldn't do that! It was like when I cover my eyes when watching a part of a movie that I don't really want to see. The train wreck coming and Blake wasn't going to stop it. But I knew why, too. Stupid, but men can be like that. Arghh! This was such a tender love story with all the steam and spice! Love this band and I bet I know who's story is next...

D.C. Cole has a smexy voice! His young Aussie woman though? Eh... not so much. (Bet he doesn't get asked for THAT very often). Josie Minor voiced a fabulous Gabi, but her women's voices came across as teenage and her male vocal parts were, uh... too high? Doesn't matter because most of it was Gabi's voice, which she did very well, and the story far outweighed any picking apart of the narrative.

    WAVING TWO THUMBS UP!

    "Rock Star Romance Reality Escape"

This is a nice continuation in the "Reckless Beat" series. Each book focuses on a band member and "Passionate Addiction" shows the love story of Blake and Gabi. I liked that this couple built a "friend" relationship before becoming a couple. Their story is built on friendship, forgiveness, and trust.

This book (as well as book 1) is the type of book that I call a "reality escape". It's written well, keeps your attention, has likable characters, and yet is very predictable and has circumstances that feel a bit askew. Despite this, it held my in interest. Each of the characters have such unique personalities and this enhances the story.

The narrators read this book very well. I enjoyed the dual narration. Their accents weren't "spot on" but I can deal with that, however I get a kick out of the way D.C. Cole says the word "didn't". Most of us pronounce it like 'did-ent' he pronounces it like 'did-nent'. Very unique. I smiled every time he said it. Lol. 😋

Note: This book (and series) is definitely for adults only because of the sexual content and language.

My thanks to the author for providing me this audio book. It was a pleasure to review.

    "Blake & Gabi"
What was one of the most memorable moments of Passionate Addiction?

When Blake surprised Gabi for her birthday

What does D. C. Cole and Josie Minor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

First time I`ve listen to any of Josie`s work and I really got a kick listening to an Aussie in a book, I think she did a wicked job. You have a new fan Josie, I`ll be following your work that's for sure.
As for DC Cole well what more can I say, he is the epitome of a Rock Star, he oozes sex appeal. His Aussie accent wasn't the best but after listening to the whole audiobook I really don't think it was even required. It could have all been done without it I personally think, Josie slayed the Aussie parts (her character is the Australian) and that's all that was really required.
Really enjoyed listening to them together

    "Lovely Escape from Reality"

I have not read or listened to the first book in this series so when I requested a review copy of this book I admit to wondering if I might have needed to have done so. Fortunately this book is written in such a way that you can enjoy the story fully as a standalone.

I found the writing style to be very good and the emotions put into the story were wonderfully well done. I started listening to it expecting a typical Bad Boy Rock Star and a devoted fan who happened to be working on the support line. What you get in this story is so much more. I loved the slow build to their story, the emotions expressed (both happy and sad) I admit to shedding more than one tear during this story.

There were so many moments in this story that touched a deep part of me and I defy anyone to listen to this story and not feel a wide spectrum of emotions. Eden Summers is a very talented author and I certainly want to go back and listen to or read book one of this series.

Both the narrators do a wonderful job of bringing this story to life.

This review is written voluntarily and states only my personal opinion of the story and the performance.

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. This is my second audiobook by Eden Summers, and she just keeps impressing me with her unique and creative storytelling of some common book tropes. Her writing really grabs you and gets you invested with the characters and the world she creates for them. I was impressed with the first book in this series, but wasn't sure I was fully invested in continuing the series. I figured I could give or take it to continue since there was only the first book in the series out on audiobook, which is how I primarily do books these days since I have no time to sit and read. After re-listening to the first book and then followed up by listening to this audiobook for the first time, I can say I am now fully invested in the rest of the series. I have put the rest of the ebooks in my wishlist even though I am hoping they hurry and record the rest of the series and release to audiobook sooner rather than later. The narrators did an awesome job on their performance and I can't wait for more.

"I am so hooked on this series!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Passionate Addiction to be better than the print version?

I've only done the audio version so that's hard to answer, but I do think that D.C. Cole and Josie Minor did a great job with the narration, so I guess, yes.

Who was your favorite character and why?

That's tough because I really liked Blake from book 1 but he makes some really stupid decisions in this book so I'm going with Gabi. I loved her ability to trust and how open and honest she is, the fact that she's an Aussie doesn't hurt either.

What about D. C. Cole and Josie Minor ’s performance did you like?

Josie's Australian accent is fabulous, but it was sometimes hard to tell which character was peaking in her parts, there wasn't a lot of difference in how she voiced them.
D.C. Cole was fabulous as always, loved the character voices.
The two narrators worked well together.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Several scenes caused me to cry, made me glad I mostly listened to this one at home, but I also laughed and the book is just amazing, it grew me in and made me emotionally invested in the outcome.

    Any additional comments?

Listen to book one first, this book has spoilers for things that happen in the first book.

If you liked book one, you'll like this one too, Eden Summer is a fast becoming one of my favorite authors.
