Publisher's Summary

New York - based photographer Cat Jordan is ready to begin a new life with her successful, button-down boyfriend. But when she learns that she's inherited the estate of a complete stranger - a woman named Isabelle de Florian - her life is turned upside down.

Cat arrives in Paris to find that she is now the owner of a perfectly preserved Belle Époque apartment in the ninth arrondissement, and that the Frenchwoman's family knew nothing about this secret estate. Amid these strange developments, Cat is left with burning questions: Who was Isabelle de Florian? And why did she leave the inheritance to Cat instead of her own family?

As Cat travels France in search of answers, she feels her grasp on her New York life starting to slip. With long-buried secrets coming to light and an attraction to Isabelle de Florian's grandson growing too intense to ignore, Cat will have to decide what to let go of, and what to claim as her own.

INteresting storyline

Would you try another book from Ella Carey and/or Emily Sutton-Smith?

Probably, I wouldn't pursue this author. She didn't develop the character "Cat" at all, supposedly the male character was in love with her immediately, yet she seemed more like an insecure child than an interesting adult.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the facts about the secret apartment, and the twist in the story via the author.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I didn't like the childlike voice of the reader.

Any additional comments?

I wouldn't recommend this book because of the main character, "Cat." She is not interesting. Charitable, kind, slightly unbelievably so, but not interesting.

Just average

I know i am in the minority here, but I was not impressed with this book. The beginning and ending were fairly good, but everything in between slow moving. Okay to pass the time.

Psychological mystery that appealed to me because everyone has had to accept the past and try to figure out the best choice for

Narrated beautifully. It makes me want to go back to Paris. I liked the characters and there is not ugly words anywhere.

A wonderful escape

I had so much fun listening to this book! It's a virtual walk through Paris and the countryside along with a wonderful mystery through an intriguing historical event with a bit of romance added! I actually volunteered to drive at times so I could listen .... it was a fun escape!

Beautiful story

I was fascinated by this story in the news. The author did a fantastic job of creating a beautiful story from scenes from that abandoned apartment. I fell in love with the story and the interweaving of facts. Truly a lovely story.

Enjoyed and recommended

What did you love best about Paris Time Capsule?

The story was great and knowing that parts of it are factual events made it that much better. I loved how Ella Carey wrote a beautiful story that could explain the true events. This book felt like an old Cary Grant or Kathryn Hepburn movie. It is Smart, sensual, and funny!

What about Emily Sutton-Smith’s performance did you like?

The narrator was very good, especially with the French accents.

Any additional comments?

I recommended this book via email to my friends. That was a first!

Loved it!!

I LOVED the story line! Even though you wouldn't quite call it a mystery, I loved all the characters and the story. And I would DIE if they wrote a second one about Kat and her new love, and what she does with the apartment. Just overall great story, sad it had to end.

Great Story

Fantastic story of old Paris, WW2, friendships, modern day NY, modern day decisions & WW2 decisions that affect lifetimes for all those who survived. Must read if you like back stories of WW2 survivors & how they cope with existing through rough times.

Not what I hoped

Thought this story of the untouched apartment sounded interesting unfortunately it played a very poor second to a romance that would not be out of place in a mills and boon novel.

The story is largely predictable but the joy is the way it unfolds. The reader's performance is very good.
