Publisher's summary

I'm assigned to help superstar tight end, Duncan Hart, rehab his elbow. With a body that looks like a sculpted masterpiece, his chiseled features melt the hearts of women everywhere, including mine.

There's just one problem. Duncan's an asshole, with an ego the size of a football stadium. He lives for the roar of the crowd. He thrives on it. And he wants to let me experience the Hart attack - yes, he has a name for it. But that's not going to happen. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.

All's fair in love and war, and I have two choices - take him down, or let him score.

Over the Middle is a full-length romance with an HEA, no cheating, and no cliffhanger!

good story, could have been better if it ...

This was a good story. I believe that it would have been much better if it had had dual narration with both male and female narration.
I think that was the biggest flaw with this story.
Maybe, Hopefully, it'll be re-released someday with female and male narration.
I could actually give it a 5 star rating if that change could be made as this is a very believable story line. Nothing in this story is a far fetch from reality. I think that's why I liked it so much.

Duncan and Carrie

I read this book years ago and like it but listening to it made me love it.
An adorable, charming, and intriguing romance. Duncan absolutely surprised me, he seems cocky, full of himself but meeting Carrie turns his world on its axis. He become someone he has hidden inside himself that no one but Carrie can bring out in him. Carrie is a sweet, independent, wonderful person who has the ability to bring this Jock to his knees. I loved it!
I was not a fan of the narrator but because the book was fun, I could get past her voice.

Cute Romance!

Any additional comments?

This was a really cute college romance book. I enjoyed Duncan and Carrie's journey that led to their HEA. Narrator did an ok job.

ENGROSSING STORYLINE AND APPEALING CHARACTERS

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

OVER THE MIDDLE has those satisfying twists and riddles we come to anticipate in Lauren Landish's books. Not as gritty but every bit as heart-warming in the romance department. I love when a real woman with a tangible body is the love interest. When most romances portray powerful, brawny men, why are they most often paired with flawless, DNA privileged women?

While the story completely absorbed me, I felt a bit cheated out of some gravy, when IMO, the story should have had more meat. Considering his arrogance portrayed at the opening, Duncan's hasty devotion didn't have a strong enough motive. Yes, she was curvy, a nice girl and said no, but so what? I was led to believe he was a real cocky bastard... And the few mentions of his father seemed like stolen instances from a different story. Neither of those two points however, weakened the main points of the story, which was well written and cohesive.

The narration was acceptable. I heard a slight lisp in her voice that I eventually phased out. The male voices sounded disdainful. But her interpretation was professional with good modulation and rhythm.

Worth TWO THUMBS.

Heart Attack

Any additional comments?

I really didn't enjoy the audiobook very much I`m afraid, I found Duncan`s voice and even Carrie`s at times very annoying. I`m aware that Duncan was a total a** but for me it was just a little much, Carrie`s voice wasn't ideal for a college student in my opinion either. Story was OK but honestly, I would lose focus due to the narrative.I was provided this audiobook through Audiobook Boom at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review.

Cute College Romance

I received this audiobook for free for an honest review. I thought the college romance between Carrie and Duncan was cute. It's been many years since I was in school, but I'm sure there are people like these two running around. The arrogance of Duncan comes out as an insecurity when his life is revealed. Carrie gives him a run for his money. Emma Lysy is not one of my favorite narrators, but she is bearable. I may read more of Lauren Landish's books, but I didn't love this one, probably because of the narrator. The story was entertaining.

College romance

If you could sum up Over the Middle in three words, what would they be?

Cocky turns sweety

What was one of the most memorable moments of Over the Middle?

I think Duncan revealing his life, and seeing his vulnerable side.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The narrator was horrible at the male voices. If she never altered her voice for them I would have preferred it over the exaggerated and nasally overly done way they come off. Her normal voice narration when performing female characters was much better.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I felt for the characters in this story, but I fear my reactions may have been dulled because the narration wasn't as well performed for some parts and it too away from the story for me.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the way Carrie takes Duncan to task all through the story. They have a great character chemistry and I enjoyed their volley back and forth. I liked seeing the softer side of things as well. I am a huge audiobook advocate so it pains me to say this but some might get a better experience for this book by simply reading it, because the narration can be off putting to some. I obtained this copy for free from audiobook boom for my unbiased review.

Awesome story with characters you can relate to.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Over the Middle?

I think one of the most memorable moments would be when Cassie walks away from Duncan, making him realize he has to chance his playboy ways or lose one of the most precious things he has ever had.

Which character – as performed by Emma Lysy – was your favorite?

Casey is my favorite. She's so strong and goes for what she wants no matter what.

Any additional comments?

I loved loved loved this book. The characters are so relatable. Casey is the girl you want my your side and can be best friends with. Duncan, well, he is the one that will sneak in and steal your heart. The storyline is compelling and extremely catching. I greatly enjoyed this book and look forward to listening to more from this author and narrator!
