Publisher's summary

Foster Kavanaugh

I have limits. Rules. No attachments allowed, because I don't love. But, with her smart mouth and quick banter, my office manager creeps past my defenses.

Noelle Davis

Swearing off men after escaping a toxic relationship, I'm grateful for a fresh start. Of course, my new job isn't tranquil and calm thanks to my boss, the most infuriating man on the planet.

When circumstances put me in a perilous position, the first person to rescue me is none other than Foster. I get to see the former Navy SEAL in action, not as my aggravating boss, but the man who will stop at nothing to ensure my safety.

The same man who makes me want to reconsider my self-imposed embargo on men.

The same man who makes me want - more.

But more isn't always possible when you're Out of Love.

WIT, WARMTH AND WORRY FREE LISTENING

This is a new author for me. and it’s someone I’ll be watching for in the future because this hot and humorous Contemporary romance was cleverly written with wit and a smooth pace by RC Boldt. Foster (the hot hero) started his Private Security Consulting firm when he left the Military and this is where he, and his feisty sexy Office Manager Noelle, are strongly denying the physical lure and sexual attraction they have for one another. They both think it’s unrequited lust but, as the ex military co-workers can testify to, Noelle and Foster need to lower their barriers, get together and see that they’re actually made for each other.

Ex Navy Seal Foster is Noelle’s handsome sexy boss.. however, he’s a manwhore and has a commitment free attitude of ‘three and done’ when it comes to his long list of willing hookups. And anyway Noelle’s taken a long sabbatical from men after her disastrous relationship with her ex.. but their good humored quick-witted banter is fuelling their desires rather than dousing them. So, when Noelle’s past finally catches up with her again, his actions puts sultry spitfire Noelle, and sweet sexy Foster, under the same roof. And under that roof they told themselves the biggest lie of all... “it’s just casual” - because it was anything but casual.. however, it was going to take a while.. and it was going to hurt in the end because Foster was punishing himself for what he did overseas. He was denying himself any chance of a HEA until Noelle.. because with her it was different. With Noelle Foster felt much more, tasted true contentment and glimpsed what could be his future.. but Foster’s burden was heavy and he wasn’t ready to open up, forgive himself, admit his true feelings and let her in.. until it was too late.

It was enjoyable, had a good supporting cast of secondary characters and Foster and Noelle were likeable, fun and flirty.. but, after the initial push/pull of their budding relationship, and the drama caused by Noelle’s ex, there wasn’t really anything new. And that’s absolutely fine if you’re looking for a low angst listen.. but, IMHO, the ex could’ve stirred up more trouble which would’ve prolonged the suspense and drama rather than keeping the story fairly simple. It’s got sex, passion, humor, verbal sparring, sizzling chemistry, witty banter and a close band of friends and family whose dynamics and help with Noelle and Foster were crucial all the way. Foster is hard on the outside but protective, loyal and sweet inside.. and his service dog Harley is there for the mentally scarred ex Special Ops Military man - but he steals a few scenes when Noelle needs him too.

Worth a credit? Yes I think so, it had an alternating POV storyline which was good, it put a smile on my face and it was an entertaining and enjoyable listen with excellent narration.

In Love with “ Out of Love”

Witty, Romantic , Deeply Moving Story. Narrated by my new favorite Rob Shapiro. His voice, his timing and the emotion he can make his character feel! Harper Grey, perfect for Noel and just the right amount of Funny and Romantic for her character! Well done all!

good romance

Loved the story and romance. The only thing I would change was if they thought their buddy was still alive, they would be going back for him. You know the hole "leave no one behind" moto. They wouldn't be saying "yeah i don't feel that he's dead" and then going on with their lives like oh well.

Other than that I liked the characters and the story.

Great Story

I felt like this story had a good mix of wit, drama and personal growth. The banter between Noelle and Foster is hilarious and helped lighten the mood.

The narrators were great. It's hard to find narrators that put on a southern accent that doesn't sound completely overdone. They made the story easy to listen to.

Get past the first two chapters...

So there were two initial things I had to get past:
1. The accents, as someone currently living in Texas, with friends all over the south, getting past the initial blaring accents was hard. I put this book down twice because it was so grating. THAT BEING SAID! After the first two chapters, the inflection and insistence seems to disappear and it feels more natural.
2. The beginning writes out like an overdrawn synopsis from both characters perspective. It felt forced and it took a while for their voices as separate characters to shine through. Just because a character SAYS they're known for being a certain way or they carry certain attitudes is just basic writing to me. SHOW Me! Don't tell me.
Other than that, I think contextually the author did a fantastic job relating to and empathizing with soldiers of PTSD. My brother was a marine and went through the same scenarios as Foster (no spoilers) and it shaped him much the same way.
I think the book was overall very well done, If only for a few personal changes.
Great Listen- GREAT NARRATORS

Foster and Noelle!

After leaving the military Foster has created his own security company where he hires other veterans to help them adjust to civilian life. He still bears the emotional scars of what he has seen and done and they are brought to the surface when he receives some traumatic news. He is a good man, a good friend and is close to his family. He has a way with women but keeps his distance from the one woman he really wants, Noelle his office manager.

Noelle is feisty, fiery and has no problem putting Foster in his place. She has come to town for a fresh start and tried to leave her past where it belongs but when it resurfaces Foster is there to protect her. The experience brings them close but when he starts to distance himself will they find a way back to each other?

This is a sweet and sexy romance filled with humorous banter and emotion as they both help each other heal from the past. I thought both narrators did a great job at bring both the emotion and humor in this story to life.

Sweet Read

I loved Foster and Noelle’s story. It was touching. I adored how protective Foster is of Noelle, even when his caveman side was showing. Noelle is a little firecracker. She gives Foster a run for his money. Together the two make an amazing pair. I loved the banter between the two. I can honestly say theirs is a story I would definitely listen to over again.
