One In A Million

The narrator was awful. The whiny voice was one that little kids use when they don't get their way. The story of the Haynes brothers by Susan Mallery was great I just wish it had been narrated by someone who I could listen to more than once!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nash, because he sounded very handsome and sexy.

What about Marie Ellis’s performance did you like?

The story line is good, but the voice used by the narrator for all the male characters was very confusing at times, because the male voices sounded like the female voices. Also the characters voices for the little boys in this story all sounded like little girls. Could have done a better job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I got through it because I wanted to know the ending, but narrator was a turn off.

Would you consider the audio edition of One in a Million to be better than the print version?

I have not read the book but the audio was geat. I could place myself in the scenes.

What other book might you compare One in a Million to and why?

I jst finished Holly and Mistletoe. I like the strong but gentle woman.

What about Marie Ellis’s performance did you like?

I liked her voice, it was exspessive and strong She did a great job of bringing the reader into the story with her.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It was and I did!!!!

Narration was horrible

I listened to the book before this one, narrated by Therese Plummer, and I really wanted to continue the story, so I downloaded this one.
The narration was just... so wrong. The intonations were all over the place. All of the female voices sounded like they were speaking through fake smiles. Most of the men sounded like teenage girls-- also speaking through fake smiles, and the Texas accents were SO BAD. So, so, so bad.

The story was alright. It definitely continued where the last one left off, but I got so tired of hearing the phrases, "Haynes brothers," and "Haynes men."

Susan good, 2nd book not so...

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I always enjoy Susan Mallery's book, but the second book was hard to finish. The second book story was weak, and I didn't care at all for the narrator.

I would have given the first book a 4 Star but the second book really made me wish I didn't purchase. I will make sure I don't buy a double book again.

Poor narration-nearly monotone

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Too monotone, I think I would have kept the book had the voice been more interesting to listen to.

Would you consider the audio edition of One in a Million to be better than the print version?

The book was OK, but the narrator ruined it. I couldn't wait for it to be over. Her voices for the kids was like nails on a blackboard, and the one she used for Nash's boss was an insult to Long Islanders (I think that's what she was TRYING to sound like).

Glad I took a chance

If you could sum up One in a Million in three words, what would they be?

I read a lot of negative reviews on this book but I love Susan Mallery and decided to purchase it anyway. I am glad I did. The second book is not as good as the first but I found it easy to listen to and enjoyed.

What did you like best about this story?

Easy listening and good characters.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Marie Ellis?

Not unless I loved the author

Narrator was horrible. It almost made me forget it was a book by Susan Mallery.

Interesting characters

Predictable story but it kept my interest and helped the miles go by. I like the author.
