Publisher's summary

While the world carries on unawares, Stryker, who leads an army of demons and vampires, is plotting an all out onslaught against his enemies—which, unfortunately for us, includes the entire human race. To avenge his sister, Stryker prepares to annihilate the Dark-Hunters. But things go awry when his oldest enemy returns. Enter his ex-wife. Zephyra. Just when he thought nothing could stop him, he's now embroiled in a centuries old war with a shrew who gives new meaning to pain.

Good book, terrible narrator.

What made the experience of listening to One Silent Night the most enjoyable?

The only thing good about this audio rendition was that audio books can be a hands free experience.

If you’ve listened to books by Sherrilyn Kenyon before, how does this one compare?

The story is good. I personally enjoyed this book more when I read it for myself awhile back. Mainly these are not the voices I would picture these characters with. Snarky and sarcastic for a female is not always or not nearly always the whiny voice used for the female characters' sarcasm. Not to mention Stryker sounds like a bieber fan boy. I've read all of Sherrilyn's dark hunter books and after awhile you get an idea of what a characters 'voice' would sound like.

Would you be willing to try another one of Scott Brick’s performances?

Not willingly, only if I have the misfortune to have him narrate another of Sherrilyn Keynon's books.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, again because of the narrator.

Any additional comments?

If this book were ever re-released with either Holter Graham or Fred Berman narrating... well those I would listen to hands down before this particular gentleman again.

Hated the narrators voice

His voice just didn't make the story enjoyable. I thought he was trying to channel George Taki at times.

Interesting perspective...

I've read almost the entire dark hunter series. While I enjoyed reading about Stryker and his background, the narrator almost killed the book for me. He made the women sound really whiny. I couldn't get into it because of his voice. Would have liked it better otherwise. It is short but definitely fills in some gaps about Stryker and his story.

This narrator is TERRIBLE!!!!

What did you like best about One Silent Night? What did you like least?

I have listened to literally 30 of these books and countless other authors and have never heard a worse narrator. I do not typically take time to write a review but I had no choice. I had to buy this in hard copy because I could not stand listening.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

In every possible way. He mis-pronounced every single name of beloved characters and butchered the voice inflection to the point of pain. Shame on the producer for not doing a better job of policing this disappointing narration of a wonderful book. I'm sure this guy could do justice to some book somewhere as he has a deep voice but this is just a shame.

Any additional comments?

There have been a couple of other of these books in which the producers did not catch mis-pronunciations of key characters and I did not write reviews as it was super frustrating at the time but it did not justify taking the time to respond. However, I do believe that from a customer perspective, when the name of a character is mis-pronounced, I cannot imagine that there isn't a producer somewhere that should be correcting this issue. Any narrator of a book that is part of a series should either have to listen to another author or have a vocabulary list with pronunciations and someone to guide them to insure the integrity of the series.

Save yourself read the book

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The content is as usual awesome. Sherrilyn Kenyon is a master at her craft. She knows how to pull you in and never let you go. It's why I love the series. The characters, the dialogue everything is perfection. The only thing I would change about the audio book is the narrator. Fred Berman is my favorite narrator in the series with Holter Graham a close second Listening to those two narrate is a joy because you can actually get lost in the book.

What other book might you compare One Silent Night to and why?

All the books in the series are comparable to this one. I think I would have a better time reading this book than listening

What didn’t you like about Scott Brick’s performance?

I didn't like anything about this narrator. He would be better off reading text books or the bible. There is a subtlety to reading a book that this narrator doesn't have. He is acting and it's really bad acting. It made me want to burn my ears and pull my eyes out. It was torturous listening to this book. I don't think I've ever had such a bad reaction to a narrator.

Any additional comments?

Overall I love the series so I suffered through this book

I almost didn't buy it

Because of the narrator's bad reviews, I almost didn't get this book, but I'm glad I did. I enjoyed his narrative. It is different but I like the different voice for Striker, it has condescension dripping from it and still manages to have some vunerability. Our re-visiting characters sound different but they are minor players in this story. I really enjoyed the story, new characters and new revolutions.

Great Story

I'm very glad they changed narrators the previous one was no good at all. I love the Dark Hunter Series and am so thankful they brought Fred Burman in to fix the narration. The original narrator I could not even make it through the audio book. So thankful that now I can :)

Wonderful story!

If you could sum up One Silent Night in three words, what would they be?

Bad Narrator

What did you like best about this story?

The closer look at the bad guy.

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No and will avoid his narrations in the future if possible.
