Publisher's summary

Jason has known Sophie since preschool, although Sophie didn't even know who he was until their second year of high school.

When Jason’s father leaves after having an affair, he turns to food for comfort. Sophie is quick to spot his weight gain and ensures the next few years of his life are hell.

Jason has one thing to look forward to though: college. It’s a chance to start fresh and create a cooler version of the person he used to be. He spends all summer getting back into shape, and things finally seem to be going his way until a familiar face shows up and brings everything crashing down around him.

Book 1

It has an interesting story and it ended just when it gets more interesting. Too short to really enjoy it.

Realistic storyline that shows the truth about the role parents play on shaping their children’s lives

Great short story! Jason has to work hard to over come the damage done by his parents. Sophie is the pretty mean girl that has tormented Jason all through high school. But the tables are turned when they meet up in College. Can’t wait for the next book to find out what happens. Samuel Demeter did an amazing excellent job with the narration. Definitely recommend

My on the edge review

What happens when the one person who bullied you in high school needs you to help save them?? Years later, would you help, or not. After leaving home to start college that’s the question Jason has to ask himself when Sophie gets bad news from back home.

It’s not the question of should he help her or not, it’s a rational decision that he makes rather quickly.

Finding Sophie standing on a cliff edge in the rain debating her life, should she jump?? What should he do, Jason knows the answer before the question is even asked.

He talks her off the literal edge and convinced her that her life is worth so much more, she won’t become a monster.

I love this short story, and I can’t wait to hear the second short story in the series.

I am hooked!

On the Edge: Twisted, Book 1

By: Danica Reid, Third Cousins Narrated by: Samuel Deeter

I am hooked! I need to know more about these characters. They are so easy to relate to, just your typical young adults trying to learn their place in the world, in spite of their past. I’m not usually a fan of cliffhangers but with this short story series it works! I am so ready for part two!
My overall rating for this story is 4 huge Boundless stars. I love On the Edge and recommend this story to all readers.

Strong narration

First, the narrator has a strong voice and the quality of the audio is great. The story really grabbed me and kept me eagerly listening, until the very end. The abruptness of the way it ended left me saying, "Huh." I rewound it three times thinking I'd missed something. Then I listened to the entire story again, but I came to the same conclusion. The author really had a great story going, but I just didn't like how it ended. Keep in mind it could have just been my interpretation and someone else might completely get it. This had great potential for a full-length novel. It's listed as book1, so maybe the story is continued? *I was gifted a copy of the audio for review purposes.*

Never Judge a Book by Its Cover

On the Edge: Twisted by Danica Reid, Thirds Cousins and narrated by Samuel Deeter is an amazing coming of age romance. For such a short volume it has some layers in the writing. You should never judge a person until you've walked a mile in their shoes. Twisted is one of those audiobooks that is very short but it also offers some good moral advice. Jason was a kid who had a horrible home life and because of those events led to an eating disorder where he sought comfort in food. In school, he went back overweight. He noticed Sophie had changed too, Hot Cotton Candy Pink hair. For just looking in her direction she labeled him a Fat Perv and was cruel to him for the rest of High School. Tormenting him any chance she could for entertainment. College was his new 'Fresh Start' but as fate would have it she shows up there too. With a title like Twisted, you can guess what will happen.

I really enjoyed this short audiobook. There is a lesson that is often lost on the young of today in this disconnected world we live in. We can chat face time and Instant Message with people around the world but what about the boy or girl next door. We live in a Society and we don't really care for each other we hide behind our keyboards toss out memes and rarely interact. If you get this audiobook take to heart the lesson of Jason and step up. Time to step off the soapbox now and return to the regular review format. I highly recommend this audiobook. The writing was excellent and I plan to follow this series. The narration was highly enjoyable. The production quality was excellent. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Great Story, but too short!

This was a great quick read; my only complaint is that it was too short! The writing was a little jumbled in places (not bad enough to detract from the storyline but noticeable.) The characters were well thought out and developed, I became invested in them immediately. The story definitely pulled me in and I would enjoy seeing this re-written as a full-length novel at some point. The narrator did a great job on all the voices, it was very easy to listen to and follow.
