How do you get revenge on a dead man?

In this laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, life-long good girl Paige Tipton learns what her dead husband was doing, for years, while she bent over backwards to try to please him. And she hopes Jeffrey is watching from hell when she finds some long-haired biker dude and does with him what Jeffrey did with all those hookers. Besides, a guy she finds at a creepy dive bar will never, ever pop up in her upscale real life. Now, if she can only get the biker to cooperate.

Dillon spots Country Club the moment she walks into the D.O.A. He's always had a weakness for these debutante types. The last time he gave in to it, at 15, he and his housekeeper mom lost everything. But this woman is cute as hell and really funny - especially when she offers him 40 bucks for sex, considering he's a very rich man now. But her kind is the last thing he needs in his life. Tempting as she is, surely he's learned something in all these years. Right?

YOU'VE GOT THIS CANDY CANE!

My first book by Nina Cordoba. I loved it. This book is funny, sexy, angst, funny, a little heartbreaking, funny, hot-hot-hot adonis.

Paige was born and raised in a sheltered, snob, country club life. Her husband was killed last year in a car accident. She gradually finds out that he was a sex addict and went to hookers several times a day. So to get even with her husband from the grave Paige decides to go out-of-character and have a one night stand.

She goes to a dive bar named, D.O.A., in the next town so she wont' be spotted by the country clubbers. This is where she meets Dillon the adonis. Paige is a 'fish out of water' in this bar and her conversation with Dillon is HILARIOUS!

Without giving anything away:
- Paige has her one HOT night stand with Dillon
- They meet by chance a few months later and start dating
- Paige struggles between the confinements of her life style and dating a guy who's not only rich but of the proper social standing
- Paige also finds out many more devious acts her late husband has committed

It's great to see Paige go from being a naive, controlled, door mat to becoming a strong, self aware, confident woman.

I gave the story 4 stars because there was more inner dialogue with Paige struggling between her life style and Dillon than I cared for. It got a little irritating for me but not so much that I won't listen to this book again and again.

Susannah Jones gave an all emotions performance; male and female voices, many characters...great job!

I took a chance on this book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Absolutely worth a credit.

Great story with fantastic narration

I loved this book. It hits all the sweet spots when you're looking for a good romance, you connect to the characters, cry and laugh, and blush all the way through. There was something deeper about the story that is very refreshing, I think it's the way there characters thoughts and feelings are portrayed in a very believable way.

The narration is well done with enough difference between the intonation and voices for different characters, that it was very easy to listen to. Overall, very happy with it! Especially for the price, I would have been happy to pay more! :)

a good story brought to life by good reader

What made the experience of listening to No More Mr. Nice Girl the most enjoyable?

I loved the way the reader could give the right moods for the things that were being said. When Paige was being catty every sentence dripped with it. When Paige just realized how bad things really were, the reader's voice conveyed the pain.

What was one of the most memorable moments of No More Mr. Nice Girl?

Not only did her husband betray her while alive, he managed to try to ruin her life after his death. Finding this out and everyone involved in the plan was a moment that I will not forget for a long time.

Which scene was your favorite?

I loved when Paige found out that Dillon had spent a good portion of the night outside her house trying to figure out how to move things forward.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. When I found out what her husband had done to her, I had to take some time to deal with the anguish that caused. I needed some time before I was ready to see how it resolved. Then I felt I had to get to the end to make sure there really was a HEA coming.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoy reading. I had only ever listened to audio books a couple of times. I find they move too slowly and I get distracted too easily. This was a great experience because from the very beginning the reader allowed me to hear everything going on for Paige.

GO WHERE YOU’RE APPRECIATED

NO MORE MR. NICE GIRL is a stand-alone romantic comedy.

Audiobooks are how I make the commute to and from work (an hour each way) more bearable each day. I found myself turning this one on even when I wasn’t in the car!

As always, in an audiobook I want to mention the narrator. Susannah Jones has a marvelous acting ability that brought all of the characters to life. Her tempo was appropriate for the mood of each scene – some quick, some slow – so that I was never bored or distracted.

I loved this story. Paige Tipton embodies every woman who has been done wrong by the ex (whether by divorce or widowhood). Luckily, when she goes flirting with danger, she finds Dillon instead.

I loved how right they were for each other right from the start. He was a little bit bad boy with a heart of gold. She was the dream fantasy of his youth. He was supportive though hesitant to trust. She was finally realizing the world she had grown up in wasn’t as perfect as she had been force-fed to believe.

While many will rally around Dillon’s words, “you’ve got this, Candy Cane,” I found the sentiment of, “Go where you are appreciated” to be much more empowering. In the end – and I hope this isn’t too much of a spoiler – that’s what Paige grabbed onto as well.

I’m looking forward to reading or listening to many more books from Nina Cordoba!

Note: while I was given this book as a gifted Audio book, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

What was one of the most memorable moments of No More Mr. Nice Girl?
When Paige attacked the Jeffrey’s headstone… and Tina took off her heels, sat down in her yellow Versace pants, and helped her finish the job. Tina is a true BFF

Which scene was your favorite?
Dillon’s final note – and his final words – because we always need to know that someone believes in us enough to remind us that “you got this, Candy Cane.”

Don't Waste Your Time

Very FEW laughs. shallow Storyline. Narrator is difficult to listen to due to piercing Voice. Two thumbs down.
