Publisher's summary

The first installment of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series, Night Pleasures.

The Dark-Hunters are ancient warriors who have sworn to protect mankind and the fate of the world is in their hands. . .

He is solitude. He is darkness. He is the ruler of the night. Yet Kyrian of Thrace has just woken up handcuffed to his worst nightmare: An accountant. Worse, she's being hunted by one of the most lethal vampires out there. And if Amanda Devereaux goes down, then he does too. But it's not just their lives that are hanging in the balance. Kyrian and Amanda are all that stands between humanity and oblivion. Let's hope they win.

Love in vein: listen to another Dark-Hunter novel.

“[A] publishing phenomenon…[Sherrilyn Kenyon is] the reigning queen of the wildly successful paranormal scene. . .Just one example of arguably the most in-demand and prolific authors in America these days.” —Publisher's Weekly

“Kenyon's writing is brisk, ironic, sexy, and relentlessly imaginative. These are not your mother's vampire novels.” —The Boston Globe

Give us more "Hunter" books!

This is my favorite fantasy/romance series. I have read all of Sherrilyn Kenyon's "Hunter" books and I was thrilled to find some of the earlier books (that made me a devoted fan of hers) on Audio. If you like this genre don't hesitate. You won't be sorry. Pretty soon you will be collecting all of the "Hunter" books you can find.

First DH book for me

This is the first one of Sherrilyn’s books I’ve ever listened to. It kept my interest enough to keep going to the next book. Now I’m getting ready to start the 14th. It’s like 50 Shades of Grey meets the Supernatural.

Kenyon delivers and then some . . .

New narrator but she, Carrington MacDuffie, gives me a performance.

Amanda Devereaux gets a lot more than she could have ever bargained for on this night. That goes double, maybe even triple, for Kyrian of Thrace. In the end, neither would have every figured on love. I most certainly want to meet more of the Deavereaux sisters.

This was a ride that no one could have predicted. It was intense, passionate, intriguing, alluring, and so addicting. I love what I am getting from this series. I guess that could be why I read it or listen to it on a regular cycle. Especially when new books are coming. Julian, Kyrian, and Acheron will always be my first and top Dark Hunter/lovers.

Kenyon has given me a world that I can explore for years to come and even beyond.

Good story, not so good narrator...

I accidentally started listening to book 6 of this series since it was titled "Warehunter Book 1" and fell in love with the story. Once I figured out there were more prior I wanted to get the back story for all the characters and world that I missed.

I have to say I enjoyed the story but I had a hard time with the narrator and her southern drawl. She could read the story and Male characters just fine but the women were eyeroll inducing. I will say the narrator does change after book 2, so if you enjoy the story and world that's been created, hang in there, because the new narrator is sooooo much better.

Aside from the narrator, I really enjoyed the spin on vampires, gods and werewolves. It was an easy listen thou your typical insa-attraction you find in the genre. There are also some good steamy sex scenes so if that's not your thing steer clear. Overall worth a credit.

Other PRN books I think are fantastic are anything by Jeaniene Frost, Heather Hunter's Irin Chronicles (really beautifully written and narrated), Dianne Duvall's Immortal Guardian Series, Jacqueline Frank's Nightwalker Series, Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter Series, J. D. Tyler's Alpha Pack Series and Tessa Dawn's Blood Curse series (very dark take on vampires). Patricia Brigg's Alpha and Omega series is really good too, thou more just paranormal than a PRN, romance is subtle but totally worth a listen unless you require steam. Most of these are available in the Romance Package which is a bonus if you like to binge.

Caught me of guard lol

I loved the Nick series so decided to dabble into the lore and was shocked by Grey on Grey content. Still enjoyed story tho the characters actions were kind of silly.

Excellent.

I stumbled into the middle of this series when I picked up Styxx in a thrift store. I read all 800 or so pages in 3 days. This book held true to what I expected from this author and series.
Characters that will make you laugh & cry, who have interesting and often very tragic back stories.
I love it when an author takes the time to let the reader really get to know their characters.

I highly recommend this series.

My only complaint: Not too fond of the overly exaggerated southern accents, but it was easy to get past.
