Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Elizabeth Lowell plunges into the adventurous and deadly world of underwater treasure hunters in a heart-stopping tale that superbly combines atmosphere, action, romance, and suspense.

After a family tragedy, Kate Donnelly left the Caribbean behind forever. But a series of bad management decisions has left her family's diving and marine-recovery business drowning in red ink. Now her brother pleads with her to come back to the island nation of St Vincent. Without Kate's financial expertise, the iconic treasure-hunting enterprise started by her grandfather will go under. Unable to say no to the little family she has left, Kate heads back to the beautiful and terrifying ocean that still haunts her nightmares.

Holden Cameron was addicted to the adrenaline rush of active duty - including narrowly surviving an underwater explosives accident. The last thing the former British military diver wants is to babysit a family of thieves on a tropical island - even if they are the world-famous Diving Donnellys. But in his new civilian job, Holden must investigate the suspicious activity surrounding a Donnelly dive to recover treasure from the ancient wreck of a pirate ship.

When equipment, treasure, and even divers begin to disappear, Kate and Holden form an uneasy alliance to uncover the truth. But the deeper they plummet into the mystery, the closer they come to each other. Soon they are sharing their deepest fears and darkest secrets - and a combustible chemistry too hot to ignore.

Solid book Decent narration

Would you consider the audio edition of Night Diver to be better than the print version?

Story line is typical Elizabeth Lowell. I'm rarely disappointed by anything she writes. Some complained about the narration but I didn't find it that bad. It was not the best I've heard but it was also not the worst!

really annoying narration

Sometimes it's really hard to tell whether you might enjoy a story when the narration is really bad. This is one of those cases for me. I'll probably give reading it a try in another month or so when I can stop hearing Eyre's voice speaking the words. I buy Lowell's books as they come out using pre-order because I have so much faith in her abilities as a story-teller. This is the second time I listened to this book hoping that I would enjoy it since my schedule doesn't leave me a lot of time to actually read compared to listening to audio books while I work on other projects. The narration seems mumbled, the inflection is odd and the accents for the British characters are enough of a joke to make it difficult to tell whether they are badly written characters or just badly narrated. After this second listening I felt I had to add my opinion to the mix. If I go back and read the book I'll consider updating the review trying to separate story from narration.

Didnt care for the reader. Story is good though.

I have been reading Elizabeth Lowell books for years. Love her, and her stories. I have also listened to Justine Eyre and even though she doesn't make me want to stop listening, I just don't care for her voice. Or the timing. She seems to be whispering and then she is also kind of a monotone. I finished the book, but may have to reread it on my kindle to get the full scope of the story.

Wonderful book!

Listening it a second time was just as awesome as the first a few years ago. Now I need to check out the authors other books.

Typically love Elizabeth Lowell books

I like the story, I think. I am going to have to read it to fully get it. This narrator did not do the book justice. I ended up tuning her out and had to go re-listen. When she tried to inflect a tone or feeling into a character’s voice it was terrible. I struggled the entire way through this book just to not feel like I wasted money because the narration was just not great for me.

Story good, but the voices irratating.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

To read yes, but to listen to no. I have over 300 books in my library and I've never not finished an audiobook because of the person reading it, but this was awful.

Would you recommend Night Diver to your friends? Why or why not?

Read yes, listen NO!!!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Justine Eyre?

Don't know, couldn't get pass the voices.

Do you think Night Diver needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Elizabeth Lowell is a fantastic story writer. I will read the book but I'm going to have to wait until I can get over the reader's voice before I read from scratch.

Any additional comments?

Didn't someone listen to this book before they allowed this person to read the entire thing.

so so story----irritating narrator

I have just about given up on an author I used to enjoy. Elizabeth Lowell's last 2 books were barely entertaining. This one was made worse by a narrator who mumbled and ran sentences together. I want my credit back.
