Publisher's summary

“Be careful, Amelia – you know how reckless you can be!”
-Mrs. Charlotte Harris, headmistress

Lady Amelia Plume has many admirers – it’s too bad they’re all fortune hunters and fops who can’t provide the exotic adventures she seeks. But the ballrooms of Mayfair have become much more appealing since the arrival of Major Lucas Winter, an American with a dark past and a dangerous air. Lucas is brash, arrogant – and scandalously tempting. Every thrilling kiss sparks hotter desire, yet Amelia suspects Lucas has a hidden motive in wooing her. And she intends to discover it, by any means necessary.

Just OK

As a southerner in the US…I found the hero’s drawl to be WAY too much and it made his whole
personality too much. The story was ok, but it fell flat. I don’t recommend.

Enjoyed

I enjoy it very cute story without the bad guys having the upper hand Justine didn't do that great as the American military stud but I still enjoyed him the most.

Good Story

The only reason I'm I'm not giving this a fulll five stars is because of the narrator's character voices. Her accents sounded off to me, especially the Scotsmen. They sounded very Irish and not Scottish.

Good story line, kept twisting and turning.

I just finished a rather dull series before this so I may be impressionable, but I appreciated this story with it's number of twists and turns. I will continue with the series. Many reviewers complained the narrator and how she did the hero's voice and while it was not the best, and the reason for the 3, the rest of her narration was great. And Eyre does Scottish accents excellent-I can't wait to read book 3 of the series!

Worth my credit!

The narrator often makes or breaks a story

Would you try another book from Sabrina Jeffries and/or Justine Eyre?

I've always enjoyed Ms. Jeffries, and I'd try another book narrated by Ms. Eyre---as long as she didn't make another attempt at depicting an American male voice.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Meh. Kind of lackluster.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Her portrayal of British characters was fine. Her narration of an American female character was tepid, but okay. However, her attempt at portraying the hero, an American soldier, was DISMAL, and really ended up ruining the book for me. I was continuously yanked out of the story by it. She made him sound like---I don't know, a hillbilly more than anything else. In addition to that, she very often had him slipping into British pronunciations. Perhaps the worst thing was her very annoying habit of continuously (when in the hero's voice) pronouncing the word

Do you think Never Seduce a Scoundrel needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Perhaps she could have the hero fall back into his old fears...but I don't know that there would be enough there for a whole new story.

Any additional comments?

Justine Eyre = American male voice = (shudder)

Good book to READ with hot and steamy romance.

This was a good book. I read most of it only listening to first few chapters as I didn't like the voice the narrator used for Lucas, the voice she used for him as atrocious. It made him sound like an unmanly idiot, however reading it was so so so much better. The narrator did much better with the rest of the characters and the reading. I would recommend reading this book and not listening to it. It was a very fast read as there was dialog throughout the entire book which is much more preferable than reading descriptions and thoughts of the characters. I love the way Sabrina Jeffries writes, she is a new author to me and I plan on reading many more of her books. (She has a fantastic website too)

The Heroine in the book was strong and has mind of her, which is much more preferable than a crying, whimpering heroine. The sex in the book was hot and steamy and very well written. I totally recommend this book for reading, unless you can get past the voice of Lucas.

Its too bad when audible puts a sample up you don't get to hear the main characters voices the narrator uses. Had the sample included dialog from Lucas I would have not wasted my credit or dollars and would have only bought the kindle version.

Ouch!

Justine Eyre who is usually a good narrator does a cringingly awful job with the American hero's voice.
