Publisher's summary

Welcome to the town of Promise, deep in the heart of Texas!

Promise, a ranching community in the Hill Country, has a mysterious past. Yet it’s the kind of place that represents the strength of small-town and rural America. Because Promise is built on family and friendship. Hard work and endurance. Laughter and, above all, love.

"NELL’S COWBOY:" Nell Bishop, widowed mother of two children, is turning her property into a dude ranch. And one of her first guests is Travis Grant, an Easterner known for his books about the West. Her kids adore him - and she has to admit she’s drawn to him, too. But Nell isn’t ready to fall in love again. Or is she?

"LONE STAR BABY:" Wade McMillen might be a minister, but he’s also a man. An unmarried and very attractive one. So is it as a man that he responds to Amy Thornton when she shows up in Promise, pregnant and alone? Or as a man of God? Maybe it’s both...

What an awesome story! In line with all of the other Promise, Texas stories, this one brings new life, new love, and Promise.

A Good Feel Listen

If you could sum up Nell's Cowboy and Lone Star Baby in three words, what would they be?

Makes you feel good and light hearted

What was one of the most memorable moments of Nell's Cowboy and Lone Star Baby?

Goat eats socks in Nells, and minister finds our heroine & the barn dance

What does Natalie Ross bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

These books are a very light read. These are both re records, Sandra Burr did the original and she was good on CD. Ms Ross, just brings it home even better downloaded. Her male voice is as yummy as it gets. I purchase Ms Ross recording as often as I can based on authors I like. (I just wish she would rerecord ms howard up close and dangerous. Ms Ross had not reached her full recording voice potential when she did that one. It is a not to be missed listen.)

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

It is the listen that I like. the Waltons already established

Any additional comments?

Enjoy this light listen. Authors' fans know it is a very light listen as these were written in the 90's I believe. They are not dark with tatoo's, but will leave you with an all over good feeling when the story ends.

Totally predictable

This contained two more feel-good stories on the heels of Volumes 1 and 2 - but much repetition required to bring readers who only selected this title up to date on past happenings. The 'plots' were the same as in the other two volumes, making it extremely predictable and boring. A light listen I didn't have to concentrate on much and I found my mind wandering often........ I have to admit there was nothing outstanding or special about it. I kept listening waiting for a "gotcha" which never came.

This might be aimed more at a young adult audience than mature readers. Not enough depth of plots or characters for me.

Narrator Natalie Ross was excellent with character voices but since these were the 5th and 6th stories in the same setting, all the men started sounding alike, as did the women. She performed well, but the repetition of characters and plot over-shadowed her talent.

Before reading this book you need to read volume 1 to follow all the characters.
