Publisher's Summary

It seems the things worth keeping are often the hardest to hold....

I had two things in life that mattered. My mother and my music. Mama was taken from me too soon, and now music is all I have left. It's the thing that's pushed me right out of backwoods Georgia into Los Angeles, where the line between fantasy and reality shimmers and blurs. I'm finally making my way, making my mark. I can't afford to fall for one of music's brightest stars. Not now. Music is all I have left, and I'm holding on tight with both hands. I won't let go, not even for Rhyson Gray.

I had one thing in my life that mattered - music. The only constant in my life, it's taken me to heights most people only dream about, like a gift dropped in my lap at birth. I thought it was enough. I thought it was everything until I met Kai. Now she's all I think about, like a song I can't get out of my head. If I have to chase her, if I have to give up everything - I will. And once she's mine, I won't let go.

First time a male character spoke all male parts

Strange Narration but Good Story

This is a complicated love story between two musicians. Its a sweet take on rocker romance. The narration though had sighs and laughs to accompany the emotions and reactions. It was strange and a bit creepy. I've never heard a book read this way before - and I hope I never do again.

good story. bad male narrator

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

riding the fence on that one.

What didn’t you like about Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross ’s performance?

Kai was great.
Wen Ross sounds like a game show host, which makes it awkward when he says things like "dick" "pussy" etc. "That made my dick twitch....come on down!!!" you get it.
Oh and his Irish accent he used made the character sound like a bad Swedish imitation.

Did My Soul to Keep inspire you to do anything?

read the book instead of listen to it.

Any additional comments?

The story itself is good. The audio pretty much ruined the book.
I will probably read the second book in this series rather than sit through another audio of game show host voiced male describing his sex acts.

Great Book

If you could sum up My Soul to Keep in three words, what would they be?

Great Love Story

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I wish i could have listened to it all in one sitting.

Any additional comments?

My Soul to Keep by Kennedy Ryan was a great book. I loved reading Kai and Rhyson's story. Kai was a character that everyone can not only relate to but they care for. Kai lost her mother and the only other thing that mattered to her was her music. She is so focused on her dream and nothing can get in her way like the hottest singer. Rhyson always focused on his music but couldn't get Kai out of his head. I loved Kai and Rhyson's story and can't wait to read more.

OMG OMG OMG

Would you consider the audio edition of My Soul to Keep to be better than the print version?

I did not read the print version....
but let me tell you if its any better than the audio I may cry

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved Kai ((Kai how was it narrating a character with your own name))
between her sweet southern bell accent and her tough girl independent attitude I was sold from the start

Have you listened to any of Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listen to a lot of their performances and I must say this is one of my favorites...

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

definitely i took to listening to it in the car in the market all over and i was pissed when it was over :)

Fanatic Story, Fantastic Narration

Would you consider the audio edition of My Soul to Keep to be better than the print version?

Loved the writing and loved the narrators. They made it believable. I listened to a book prior to this one with a monotone-ish narrator and didn't know how much I was just going through the motions until these two narrators read this book to me. Narrators matter.
The story unfolds as a great love unfolds, beautifully and with plenty of obstacles. The angst is palpable and the characters are probable. Their story isn't cliche or over written in other books. It's got a character who actually loved her mom and without childhood issues from at least one of her parents. Kai isn't a whiny heroine and she's the anti-fan girl thankfully. The southern voice narration is great.
Love the boy bestie. His sister and Jimmie are awful. They could have both been related to Rhys mom instead of just one of them. Grip is annoying because of the anti-Kai vibe. If you're boy loves the girl, relax a little.
Rhys found something special to him, finally. Then he over analyzes and over protects it in ways that are common a jaded rock star/child prodigy. Not understanding the climb as a learning experience unique to every rising star. Not understanding he's suppose to be her yoga mat to fall onto when she's lost her way or is out of strength and needs to catch her breath. But I guess in ways unique to him, Kai, feeling territorial, protectiveness, and love in general is all a new and intense learning experience for Rhys.
All of the characters bring emotion to the reader/listener. That's one of the beauties(among many) of the writing for sure. This book down as one of my 2016 favs.

What other book might you compare My Soul to Keep to and why?

My all time favorite is Fifty shades all 3 books. My Soul to keep I can compare to fifty but I don't think the author goes deep enough In certain area

Emotionally engaging

This was a re-read for me in preparation for DTMS. I loved it as much the second time as I did the first.
There is so much emotion is MSTK-sadness, fear, anger, jealousy, hope, loss, frustration, love. It's all there for you to experience with Kai and Rhyson. These characters and their story are so easy to connect to, that you rise and fall as they do. My heart breaks over their mistakes and mistrust.
Kennedy Ryan makes you feel with her words in MSTK and I know that DTMS will be more of the same. Read this beautifully written, five-star masterpiece.

Just no

Any additional comments?

This is my first (and probably last) book by Kennedy Ryan. I had read glowing reviews for this book but it failed to keep my interest. The story took forever to develop and the characters were friends for what seemed like forever! The interactions between Rhys and Kai lacked spark and passion, and I found myself skimming chapters hoping to get to some sexy times but alas I was disappointed. I didn't end up finishing this book because I just got BORED!!! I didn't want to waste anymore of my time listening to this book.
