Publisher's summary

Claire Cook's most enduring characters are back in book two of the Must Love Dogs series!

Life after divorce for Sarah Hurlihy used to consist of juggling her job as a preschool teacher with the demands of her interfering family. But after a rocky start, Sarah and John Anderson have shared six months of dating bliss. Now their relationship is basically on hold because Sarah's brother, Michael, and his dog, Mother Teresa, are staying with her. And John's new puppy, Horatio, hates Sarah. With a passion.

Michael hopes absence will, in fact, make his wife Phoebe's heart grow fonder. Sarah hopes she can do her sisterly duty and send Michael on his merry way before she ends up single again herself. John hopes Sarah and his puppy can work things out before it's too late. Sarah's bossy big sister, Carol, hopes both Michael and their father will start dating again.

When Phoebe packs up their daughters and heads home to Savannah, Georgia, Michael follows her from Marshbury, Massachusetts, and the Hurlihy clan tags along for reinforcement, including Dad, who has finally upgraded his Smith Corona to a laptop and already has a date with a woman named Sugar Butt.

Book vs Movie

ABSOLUTELY captivating and creative writing that draws you in and keeps you entertained for hours. I love that it is realistic people with realistic issues about life, love and adventures. The book is nothing like the movie. All these books has ALOT more details, struggles and adventures.

Good story. Narrator, not so much.

I so enjoyed the first book in the “Must Love Dogs” series. It was witty, well paced, and featured vibrant characters. This second installment was just as witty but had a different narrator. Her nasal tone was often distracting and the voices made several characters sound foolish, not as the author intended. It would have been more authentic to use a Bostonian accent on some characters since that’s where the Herlihy family is from.

An Unexpected Vacation!

Claire Cook is able to use humor to reflect the numerous challenges life consistently
brings us. Familial, personal and pet relationships are woven into a wonderful tapestry. Her insight into human nature enables this quirky cast of characters to come alive. Loving dogs is not a requirement to enjoy this book!

This crazy family is at it again. With middle of the night plane rides to online dating, you never know what’s next. Great narration.

First book was better

This book was OK but the first book was funnier- I chuckled often listening to it. I enjoyed the narrator more with the first book. I liked the Irish accent of the Dad. In this book, he was not from Ireland. Also, the sister oftentimes sounded like a valley girl, the brother kinda dopey. The second book was just OK
