Critic reviews

"With Ms. Rice's skill for mixing humor, emotional intensity, and sensuality with a touch of the supernatural, Must Be Magic is a highly recommended read and a 'keeper.'" (RT Book Reviews)

Self Sacrificing Male lead

Loved it, really inspiring story but thw male character is irritatingly too self sacrificing to a point beyong reason. For someone deemed to so intelligent he marches headlong into the next problem without thinking first. Made up for it with his honesty though.

Mel come series

Story begins in 1735 as the characters were children fast forward to the year 1752 were the real story story begins. A lot of twist and turns of two different families. Cute story but for me in the end became confused to many names added in the end and the ending of the story to fast....maybe it was just me that could not keep up with all the characters. Find out for your self.

Great Story!

I really love this book. The storyline has action, intrigue, suspense and of course heartwarming love. The narration is perfect taking you right into story. As a stand alone book it is fantastic, but I am very disappointed in the loss of continuity as far as fitting into the series. In the first book Dunstan's wife's death is described one way but in this book it is totally different. Her death should never been described in the first book if it had to be changed for this one. However, I highly recommend this book.

Two crazy families

This was a fun addition to the series. I agree with one of the previous reviewer’s in stating that Cecelia’s death was not consistent. In the beginning of the book, she was found at the bottom of a cliff. Towards the end she was in an inn. Dunstan has his crazy Ives moments of being a total bigot towards women, and you want to punch him in the face. But he also was so much more open and excepting then his brother in the first book. I really love Lily, she is just a bad ass chick, and she was a joy to read about. There was love and intrigue and craziness all bundled together with two crazy families. What’s not to love.

Great story

Book number two in this series has us looking in on the next oldest Ives brother Dunstan. He has recently been subjected to criticism and wrongly suspected of killing his wife . After being dismissed from his latest job because of those nasty suspicions, he is offered a position by the widowed Lady Leila Staines, a member of the Malcolm family. Having vowed to never succumb to the bewitching spell of a beautiful woman ever again, the beguiling Lady Leila makes him an offer no man in his position can resist. This was a great story to continue the series. Leila and Dunstan suited each other perfectly. Great storyline and great caste of supporting characters. Looking forward to seeing which Ives brother or Malcolm witch will be featured next.

Great story!

I enjoyed this much more than book one. Dunston was a believer and that made the book less draining then the first story. I definitely recommend!

Great read. A bit hard to stick with

I truly looked forward to getting Dunstan’s story. But I agree with the other reviewer who said that it was pretty hard to believe that he went so long not realizing that Lilly was Leila. I kept wanting to skip forward but was listening to the audiobook. If it had been a book, I would have skimmed over quite a bit I think. It was also hard to wait for Dunstan to accept help. But it was worth the wait.

Extraordinarily magical!

I highly recommend all of Patricia Rice's books. They are a delight in all the editions in which they are published. This narrator has a very pleasant voice, and enhances the recording. She is a prolific author of these amazing historical romance as well as intriguing contemporary series. Enjoy!
