Publisher's summary

Meet Anna, a 30-something Mid-westerner living alone in New York City. A schoolteacher by day, she is a medium by night, covertly helping people reunite with their lost loved ones. Anna leads a double life, guarding her secret as much as she guards her heart - until Edward, a gangly yet quietly handsome concert pianist, moves into her building.

Edward's music fills Anna's apartment with beautiful sounds that disturb her concentration and her lines of communication with ghosts. She and Edward fall for each other fast, but Anna is conflicted: by exposing her true identity, does she risk losing what may be her true love? And is music really his true love?

Then a ghost begins to interfere - Mozart's ghost - and while making a pest of himself to Anna, he begins to play matchmaker, with unpredictable results....

While this book had a bit of a comedic story....

....and romance was to be found eventually between Anna and Edward....it was really hard to empathize or even sympathize with Anna because she was (to put it bluntly) a whiny snotty beotch....

Anna was never completely satisfied with anything and all she did was complain and find fault with everything in her life. She had a great studio apartment with a concert pianist (Edward) living downstairs from her and basically giving her free concerts every single day. She had some really great friends who really cared about her and wanted her to succeed in her 'mystic' career and her family was also supportive. She had a wonderful mentor for the spiritual side of life but she was just so negative all the time...she could never really enjoy all that she had.

Edward was an adorable and passionate piano geek with crazy red hair....he never seemed to notice or be bothered by Anna's negative streak which caused me to have a hard time believing in the romance between the two. What guy is going to put up with 'bitchiness' 24/7...???

Mozart's ghost was a pretty rude yet entertaining and funny fellow....it would have been fun to have him spend more time in the story causing all kinds of trouble with his silly antics but the author chose to keep him to a minimum even though the book is named after him and his ghost.

All in all....there were some humorous parts and some romance......but the spark was just not there for me. I expected more from this book but I was left with my expectations lacking.

Not my thing.

The premise sounded like fun; the actuality is a young children's roller coaster ride. Predictable and easily seen ups and downs and corners. The reader did a good job. I fast forwarded through much of this and don't feel like I missed anything.

Light story

I liked this book. I was ready to read something light and fun. I found the main character to be emotionally honest. I read the book in spite of the 2 reviews I read, which were not very positive. One of the reviews said the main character had too many expectations that couldn’t be met, then in the same review wrote that the book did not meet her own expectations. I found that amusing. I saw the main character as behaving like a lot of us do when first romantically attracted to someone —unpredictably. If you are feeling like getting deep into a book and losing yourself in the characters and story, this would not be a good choice. If you want a light hearted escape, this book delivers. The narrator is great!
