Publisher's summary

Dr. Martin Gänsewein wishes only to return to his simple and peaceful life as coroner; unfortunately his undead partner, Pascha, has other plans. When bodies at the local cemetery begin turning up sans organs, Martin and Pascha are propelled into their most dangerous mystery yet. As organs disappear at a rapid rate and gruesome threats pile up, Martin realizes his only chance for survival could be with the one person he wants to be rid of.

A delight for those supernaturally inclined, Morgue Drawer for Rent is a wicked third installment in the crime-solving series that brought Martin and Pascha into the souls of readers across the globe.

Third (and Last?) of the Morgue Drawer Mysteries

Martin, the forensic pathologist, has lost his old boss who has had a heart attack. The new boss who is not at all the same as the old boss, is not a medical expert but a penny pinching, time clock watching bean counter, who in an effort to maximize the profitability of the Institute has started renting morgue drawers to funeral homes which have been stretched beyond their resources by a heat wave in Cologne. Then a body is stolen and things start to go seriously, weirdly wrong.

Meanwhile Martin is apartment shopping and trying to find some way to cope with the chatty ghost of young ghost of a car thief who has been his (nearly) constant companion for the past six months.

The story is told from the ghost's point of view in first person. The narrator is excellent. While some plot points are a bit obvious, I still enjoyed the ride.

Best in series. Looking forward to more

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Very good story. Well read, although the style and translation take some getting used to. Definitely listen to the first two books before this one. The middle one was a bit of a dip in form, but this one is excellent. Eagerly looking forward to the next instalment,

Love these books - Creative and Funny

These books are about the ghost of a professional car thief, Pascha, who finds himself in the morgue (in Cologne, Germany) awake (in spirit) and dead (in body). Only the coroner, Dr. Martin Gänsewein, can hear him and poor Martin thinks he is going crazy. Pascha, on the other hand, is furious that his death was murder but made to look like he was drunk and fell off a temporary walkway so he is sticking around until things are made right. It is creative and funny and each of the following books has some central plot that furthers the 'relationship' of car thief and coroner. MacLeod Andrews narrates, brilliantly as always. I find it amazing how his voices are so totally different for different books.

fun books

What made the experience of listening to Morgue Drawer for Rent the most enjoyable?

I like all the main characters - they're fun, nice, crazy. The narrator is great for the voices and perfect for sasha.

Any additional comments?

I hope to see much more of these people -er- and beings

Such great fun!

What made the experience of listening to Morgue Drawer for Rent the most enjoyable?

MacLeod Andrews totally makes the delightful experience of the Morgue Drawer Series a fun, interesting and humorous adventure. I adore the characters in this book and love the story lines. I've now listened to all three and can't wait for another. Please Jutta Profijt, write more stories of the adventures of Martin and especially Pascha.

What did you like best about this story?

The mystery, the surprises around the corner and the performance of MacLeod.

Have you listened to any of MacLeod Andrews’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He did an excellent job in all of the books he performed. He is the best performer of books and there are many very good ones, but he is the best.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh a lot, but the only reason I cried is because I want more books to read with these characters and by this author and performer.

Any additional comments?

Love the Morgue Drawer series and cannot wait until more books are written in the series.

Entertaining

I've liked each of the books in these series. I occasionally find the bickering between Martin and Pascha to get a bit tiresome and Pascha is overbearing at times. But this is in keeping with their personalities and overall the books are well written and entertaining. MacLead Andrews is perfect as Pascha and is a big part of the entertainment.

Another fun ghost adventure!

Morgue Drawer for Rent by Jutta Profijt narrated by MacLeod Andrews continues the crazy adventures of Pasha the snarky ghost and Martin the boring doctor. Full of mystery, intrigue, and body snatching in this book. Lots of interesting new characters and wild plot. I giggled and enjoyed this book too! Fun series!

Disappointed

The first book was a well done contrast between base and refined. The story moved along nicely. This book, Pasha spends ALL his time insulting or being crude interjected with selfish whining. The story drags to boredom.
The narrator is again excellent.

Light reading, but full of humor.

Just what the doctor ordered. Wonderful twist at the end. Looking forward to book 4.

The last Morgue Drawer for me

Even if another Morgue Drawer book comes out this will probably be the last one I listen to. The only reason it got three stars is for the last third of the book. The first two-thirds were mainly taken up by Pascha jabbering away about everything and nothing, doing a lot of whining and mooning over a girl and pestering Martin and getting him in trouble. There's several things going on, a penny-pinching new boss, morgue drawers being rented out, body snatching, mutilations of bodies. The last third of the book the action finally picks up and gets a little interesting but not enough for me to continue with the series, if it does continue.
