Elder Races Baby!!!

Man I love these books! Visiting the Elder Race world is so much fun, I adore the complex world Thea Harrison has created and really wish they came out more often!

In this book we have the Night Kind King Julian's story. We have only ever heard of the ruthless mean streaked Julian who doesn't care for anyone or anything...but how did he get that way? He is a vampire who has walked the earth for nearly 2000 years and he's tired of existing, the one brief glimpse of happiness he had was when he dated the Light Fae Princess Mellie for 3 months 20 years ago, but even that was ruined, he is a man who doesn't have anything to loose, or so he thought.

When the call comes from Mellie's mother that she needs Julian in LA right now for a crisis she won't discuss over the phone Julian's blood runs cold...not Mellie....not Mellie....but when his worse fears are confirmed and the kidnappers ask for him in exchange he has no choice but to try to save the only woman he has ever cared about.

*shiver*...this book had a really decent plot, nothing stale about it, Mrs. Harrison has opened up a new can of worms with this book. My only complaint would be that things wrapped up a bit too neatly for my tastes but it was still a great book full of humor and interesting characters. We didn't get to see much of the Weir in this book, but hopefully book 9 will send us back to those lovable characters.

Narration wonderful, as usual!

Fantastical!

Julian truly is a badass! Carling made a great choice making him the NightKind King. He's intelligent, sexy, strong, and powerful. Most of all he's ruthless and will settle for nothing but the best and follows his own rules and laws. He finds his greatest strength in Melisand. She's sweet, kind, and caring. Everything that Julian is not. They are able to battle rogue council members and kidnapping and torture together.

Truly excellent story, and I'm glad that he and Carling are finding peace with one another.

Julian & Melly are a Great Addition!

After the disappointment of the last book, I felt that Midnight's Kiss returned to form for Thea's Elder Races series. This new addition brought back many well-loved characters from previous entries, which is always great.

Julian and Melly's relationship was a great second chance at love story, the conflict between them and resolution of said conflict was believable and not overdone. There was a wonderful balance between action, sex and story, neither aspect overpowering the other.

Sophie Eastlake is always wonderful, and that held true here. Her male voices are great, not too overdone, all the characters were very easy to differentiate between.

Overall, a great story that was well performed, and I'm already looking forward to the next installation!

Action/Romance. I love it

To me the series gets better. The first couple of books I got bored. This was a great love story and I felt the emotions between the 2. The narrator does a great job all the way around. Good Job Thea Harrison, keep em coming.

I forgive Julian

What he did to Carling was horrible but if she can forgive I can. I didn’t know how Thea was going to redeem him. You should really read the novella to understand the dynamics of this relationship. Milly made him better and I like that she didn’t go all girly even though she’s a girly-girl. There playfulness is 😄. Yeah, the HEA was definitely earned in this book.
