Publisher's summary

As a former Hunter bred to be a killing machine in the hell of a madman's lab, Breed vampire Scythe is a dangerous loner whose heart has been steeled by decades of torment and violence. He has no room in his world for love or desire - especially when it comes in the form of a vulnerable yet courageous Breedmate in need of protection. Scythe has loved - and lost - once before and paid a hefty price for the weakness of his emotions. He's not about to put himself in those chains again, no matter how deeply he hungers for lovely Chiara.

For Chiara Genova, a widow and mother with a young Breed son, the last thing she needs is to put her fate and that of her child in the hands of a lethal male like Scythe. But when she's targeted by a hidden enemy, the obsidian-eyed assassin is her best hope for survival...even at the risk of her heart.

Truly Enjoyable!

I love this series and once again Lara Adrian followed through with another great book on which the journey continues. I loved this
couple... both had previous struggles and their own private tragedies which ultimately it was that commonality that brought them together. A must read for this series!

Fell short of the full length novels

I have loved this series. However, the novellas, including this one, lack the depth of the novels. This relationship went from none to bond in three seconds flat. I also really missed being able to experience the interworkings of the order and all that intels. Never the less, I will continue to gobble up every novel and novella that is released from this series.

Midnight Unbound Breed Series Book 14.5

Excellent read and interesting characters that did not expect at all for themselves to become mates. More less than becoming a bounded pair. Both came to accept and accommodate each other weaknesses and helping each to grow in the best way possible. They were not expecting love but ended finding love when all oodles are working against them.

Okay

Entertaining enough and the narrator did a good job. I didn't feel the connection between Chiara and Scythe though. I did like the pull between them and how they try to resist, but I didn't enjoy the back stories for either of them. Scythe was involved with a druggie prostitute in the past, or something along those lines, which was all just weird and not something I want to read about with a hero. Chiara's wasn't so bad; I just didn't really enjoy it. She was basically naïve and got with some guy she knew very little about and got pregnant. She's more aware now though, so I liked her. Overall, it was okay. I've read all of this series; some books are really great, but there are those that aren't, so I'll keep with the series. I enjoy the action and the world this series takes place in. I also enjoy the passion.
