Publisher's summary

His name is Rafer Callahan. He was a kid from the wrong side of the tracks who fought through life the only way he knew how: with his fists. But Rafer never meant to bring any harm to Cambria Flannigan, the girl—the lover—whose sister he’d been unable to save….

Cami lost her sister in the brutal murders that rocked her hometown so many years ago. Some still believe that Rafe and his friends Logan and Crowe were involved. But how could Rafe—who haunted her girlish dreams, then her adult fantasies—be a killer? That is the question that keeps her up at night.

Now a prosperous ranch owner, Rafe is trying to build a new legacy for himself. It’s finally time to settle the score with Cami—and make her his. But old wounds open up with a series of new murders… and each of the victims has a connection to Rafe, Logan, and Crowe. With suspicion, fear, and loyalty tearing her apart, Cami is once again at risk of losing her heart—or her life.

I enjoyed the book

The characters are interesting and drew me in, the narrator is pretty good and the sex scenes are graphic and fairly hot. The details get mixed up when it comes to timelines though and that is a bit of a hindrance in the beginning.

It's a fairly convoluted plot when you get right down to it and seems pretty formulamatic I still love most of her books and characters.

Confusing...

Would you listen to Midnight Sins again? Why?

Maybe, If I had nothing else to read.

Would you be willing to try another book from Lora Leigh? Why or why not?

yes. the writing wasn't bad.

Which character – as performed by Clare Claremont – was your favorite?

the main character.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

First Love.

Any additional comments?

The story line was confusing about the different families, who were survivors of who, and families of the the town. I was lost...

Liked the story, confusing on all the who is who.

Hard to follow all the relatives and why and where and when, (don't see the point in this) I liked the story line even though the story is not resolved. Should have read this one before "Deadly Sins", did not know it was continued in both books. I liked the narrator, she reads a lot of Lora Leigh's books. Overall a good book and will read the next one and hopefully will be the end and find out who the bad guy is.
Also when reading the description about the book, it states the guys were friends, not cousins. Weird.

Eroctica or romance?

I was a little surprised that this was an erotic novel (didnt get that from the summary) but once you get passed that, the story line is actually very good and it keeps one guessing. Unfortunally it is also a little repetitive - and no not the sex scenes, but the background story is retold so many times that it actually gets to be a little anoying and in the end the suspense does not really get resolved. It seems that you have to read the next book to find out what really is going on (havent done that yet, so not entirely sure that you will know after that one either - since there is three male characters tied to the plot, and only two books available at this time)
The narrator could be better...
But still - I will read or listen to the next (two?) books in order to find out what is going on and who is behind the killings.

Great

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rafe

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Intense book. Suspense, Danger, Pain and loss and love.

Any additional comments?

I liked the danger and suspense the sex part is wild but hey I still liked it. Maybe they should put a warning on for the explicit sexually part. As they do with others. But if you have read Lora’s other books you know they are part of her books. I just listened to the 2nd book. Deadly Sins and it's better than book one. But yes it is very sexually graphic. But in some books mixed with the suspense and danger it all comes together for me. I like most of her books.

A little confusing...but typical Lora Leigh

I was a bit confused about the plot of this book...I know several people who have read the hard copy and said that there was an insane amount of typos and timeline errors in it. I'm glad i decided on the audio version of this book! but it was still a bit confusing though..but it's pretty much what I expect from Lora Leigh so it was fine.

Horribly repetitive and poorly written

I can't believe this book was published with obviously no editing. The entire thing is a reputation of information over and over, and very little happens in the book otherwise. I normally enjoy Lora Leigh books, but this one was just awful...

An extremely intriguing erotic thriller

Ms Leigh never disappoints, her mystery combined with very erotic love scenes and great characters with emotion are not to be missed. This is continued, so we only found out 1 of the evil doers, which was a complete surprise and the strange behaviors of the young men’s families is still a mystery. Has to be more than basic greed. Thou I had to take notes because of all the characters expanding many generations, it’s been worth it. Can’t wait to start the next one to find out more. I’d be amiss if I didn’t compliment Ms Claremont on such a great narration, she made the voices sound like several were narrating.

Rookie Mistake nn My Part-But Lora Leigh/Editor?

What would have made Midnight Sins better?

This was one of my first erotica purchases after purchasing and loving Lora Leigh's Elite Ops: Wildcard.

The basic story was o.k. however, I do not know if Lora Leigh or her editors think the reader cannot remember details for more than 5 minutes at a time because this was SO REPETITIVE!

There were 3 female cousins [heiresses] who married men their parents didn't approve of. The 3 sets of couples had 3 sons (and an infant daughter). The 3 couples were killed in a car accident and the town turns against the three young sons. Got it? This is repeated innumerable times-sometimes twice in the same paragraph.

Cami's sister, Jamie, was murdered 12 years ago. Cami's father loved Jamie and wished Cami had died instead-important to know but not necessary to tell the reader between 20-30 times.

There are numerous mentions of the community socials; why, what, where who, etc. Got it.

The family tree/timeline is inconsistent.

However, as a 'newbie' I did get caught up in the erotic scenes and kept trying to get through to the end as to solve the mystery-only to find out there were 2 more books in the series.

If you’ve listened to books by Lora Leigh before, how does this one compare?

I love the Elite Ops series and would like to hear more of them. Audible currently has only 2 available.

I think Lora Leigh is capable of good writing - this set is not her best.

What didn’t you like about Clare Claremont’s performance?

She sounded to old for these characters...it sounded like someone's grandmum reading and considering the subject matter, yikes!

Also, I'm not sure if it is the performance or the writing but Cambria came across as mentally 'simple' or 'slow' (whatever the p.c. term may be).

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Midnight Sins?

Cut the repetition, cut the repetition, cut the repetition! LOL

Also details, facts, names and dates are all over the place:

I suggest going to Amazon.com and reading Diane V. review:

Any additional comments?

In my enthusiasm for newly found genre and positive experience with previous books-I listened and held out to the end and did buy the other two books in the series because I wanted to find out 'who dunnit', why and if the cousins succeeded. If I were looking for something to read NOW I would not purchase these books.

Re-reading my review it seems a bit confusing-I hope it is helpful.

NOTE: Strong language and sexual situations-for mature audiences.
