Publisher's Summary

In the first book of her erotic new series, Lora Leigh invites you to an intriguing world where genetically altered Breeds and the humans who created them commingle - and sometimes cross the boundaries of desire….

Cursed with the extraordinary power to feel other peoples’ emotions, Megan Fields has tucked herself away in a remote corner of New Mexico, working as a small-town sheriff’s deputy. She finds solace in the silence and heat of the desert. But when Breeds begin dying on her watch, Megan realizes that the secrets from her past can’t stay buried forever. Someone is out for blood - her blood.

An arrogant Feline Breed, Braden Arness broods with feral intensity. His mission to solve the mysterious murders brings him to Megan, a woman who accosts his senses like no other. Only with him can she let down her guard - and surrender to the insatiable hunger that wracks her body. But as they team up to hunt the elusive killers, Braden and Megan find themselves becoming the prey….

Love the Breed series!

I know my review of this book is a little biased since Lora Leigh's Breed series is one of my favorites so just know that this review for me is more about the narrator than about the content. I felt like she did an excellent job with this book. It isn't easy to read this genre of fiction and sound believable but she did it and she did it well.

Megan's Mark, The Breeds, Book 1 Review

This was the first title that I have ever read/listened to by Lora Leigh. I have to say that it wasn't the experience that I was expecting. The reader didn't make the book very enjoyable because of the awful way she voiced the characters. I don't know why she made Megan's voice so odd. For a few seconds I thought Megan was a dude. Braeden was voiced in the most fake bad acting tough guy voice I've ever heard. The book itself was probably one of the most annoying, boring, pointless books I've ever come across in the genre. It was KILLING me to finish it and I only did because I paid for it. And it wasn't the sex scenes either. I know what the genre is and I have no problem with sex scenes even very explicit ones. So for me, the downer was the interaction between the two main characters period whether sexual or otherwise. I saw no realistic point for them to be together let alone be "mated". None whatsoever.Their interaction as a couple was borderline dysfunctional and I could see some people saying mentally abusive. And I don't say that because I have a problem with a very strong take charge male. In fact, that is the type of lead male character that I always prefer to read but this guy Braeden wasn't the least bit appealing in that reguard. He seemed more into the idea of possessing Megan than actually being in love with her which put a total damper on the "romance" aspect. Megan was just the most annoying woman that you would expect to get stomped on and manipulated.even with her empath abilities. I honestly feel bad that this was the first title that I ever experienced by Lora Leigh because it makes me not even want to try any of her other books for fear of being bored and annoyed out of my ever loving mind. I just can't recommend this title at all. For me it was a TOTAL waste of time, money, and effort. I tried and tried to get into it and I just couldn't get past the lunacy of it all. I say do yourself a favor if you are considering this book: ABORT MISSION!!

HOT!

Wow, very sexy story! Do not buy this book if you prefer sex scenes to be alluded to or vaguely described, this is explicit. That didn't bother me and I loved it! I only knock off one star for the implausibility of the bad guy, his motivation, and timing. But I understood the main characters, liked them, cared what happened to them, and enjoyed the story. Hope audible gets the rest of the series!

No Worries!

I am another fan of the Breed series, and purchased this book right away. Although I liked the sample, I was still a bit scared that the narration wouldn't live up to my expectations. I agree with another reviewer--this is a genre that can be ruined with the wrong narration.
No worries! The narrator did a very good job, and I finished the book in record time. This series is an auto-buy for me. I'm glad to see Harmony's Way is available, and hope the entire series will be on Audible very soon.

I've never stopped listening to a book...

I LOVE my audio books and I LOVE the idea's of shapeshifters and the characters of this story. Unfortunately, there was so much sexual in this, I had to stop. I am NOT a prude. I love to read about a good romp in the hay. But, the wording and terminology that is used just did not add to the story line.

I feel the creation of the characters and the intended story line is good and could be interesting if we didn't have to hear about his "c**k" and her "c**t" every other sentence... Such a shame, I was looking forward to this and the others, but I'm glad I only wasted my credit on one of them...

Braden and Megan

This story was awesome! Extremely graphic, but very realistic! Megan was a strong female character, but still feminine. Braden was just hot. He was the perfect Alpha lion. After reading this book, I have to read the whole series.

One correction, this is not the first book in the series. It is actually the seventh.

I really wanted to like this!

This is the first time I have felt compelled to write a review. The story line, while interesting, resembles a Christine Feehan mish-mash, but just cannot do justice to that authors creativity. The erotic writing is so base and repetitive in language, action, and maturity that I just could not get into the story line. It really didn't flow. The narrator did a good job with the story line and characters. I really wanted to like this. The story it's self has potential, but I will not be a buyer for book 2!
