I've read a few of Calinda's works, so I was excited to listen to something of hers! It was really interesting. I loved the narrator. Jeremie did a good job of setting the tone, although maybe he did a little too hard on the creepy side for the paranormal/death aspect. <br/><br/>As for the story I thought it had a good plot and an interesting take on a romance novel. I really loved listening to this work. I think it added a new element to her work that I haven't experienced until now. A good book to listen to while doing errands or just relaxing in bed!

"Different but Good take on Paranormal"

This Audiobook was different from most paranormal books I've read. I like the spin this one had. It kept my interest peaked. The descriptions of the places, people, and paranormal beings helped me better visually everything. I enjoyed this audiobook.

    "Outside my normal genre"

I really enjoyed some aspects of this book, and others not so much. The narration was very good, but the subject of the book just wasn't my thing. There is a lot of sex, but too much death for me. Typically I do listen and enjoy dark books, but I haven't listened to many paranormal books. (I think that is why I didn't enjoy it more.) My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher, and/or narrator.

    "An Interesting Demon Story"
Would you consider the audio edition of Meeting with My Maker to be better than the print version?

The Audio Edition very may well be better than the print version due to the outstanding voice performance.

What did you like best about this story?

Although, this was set in modern times, despite what the cover looks like, I enjoyed the conversation between the two main characters. The sex adventures/exploration, the setting of the hotel. It all blended very well together.

Which character – as performed by Jeremie Burbey – was your favorite?

The characters of Mac Bhriain McCarrion was well performed by Jeremie Burbey. It's always a bit weird for a male to play a female voice and vise versa. But Jeremie fit Mac well.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Where all Demons stay.

I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. I wasn't sure if I would during the first chapter. I'm really glad I continued because it's really funny. It has snappy dialogue and very interesting characters. Things are always changing in the book, even the story. I voluntarily reviewed this audiobook after receiving an advanced copy.

    "Unlikely Match Made in Hell"

Meeting with My Maker is a very unusual story from what the author Calinda B. writes. I have read her books from contemporary, exotic, and futuristic but this story is different from she usually writes.

Annora has been used and burned by her father, her mother, and then her ex-boyfriend. The worst is the aftermath of her humiliation by her ex-boyfriend. Annora, finally shut downed and conformed to her mother's religious antics of finding Jesus. Annora is dragged by her mother to go to Hotel Paranormal in her quest of trying to contact Annora's father.

Mac Bhriain McCarrion is a shadow demon from Hell. He was not qualms about the consequences of his actions until a group of female demons banded together to punish for his callous flings and one-night stand with them. The only place he can hide is at Hotel Paranormal.

Annora is broken where she is just getting by instead of living life. Whereas Mac Bhriain is in needs of a lesson of reforming. Two beings from two sides of the spectrum and an unlikely pair to find love. A love story that both characters are least likely to change.

I love the symbolism of how the hotel portrayed Annora and Mac Bhriain's room. Not only does the rooms portrayed their state of minds, it also show how the characters have grown and learned at the end of the story.

Readers/Listeners will have a laugh of Mac Bhriain's comical sexual frustration with Annora. This book is worth listening to.

The narrator, Jeremie Burbey is absolutely fantastic with Mac Bhriain's voice. It is so Mac Bhriain. He is suburb with Annora and the other characters' voices.

I was given this audiobook by the author. I have volunteered to write an unbias review for this book. I was not compensated or influence in any way for writing this review.

    "Sadism at its finest"
Is there anything you would change about this book?

I would change the way Annora felt about her parents. She felt that her father hanged the moon and her mother was a demon that should be killed. I understand that she was a daddy's girl but when she found out what her father did to her mother she still was on her father's side. Her father was a cad and she still hated her mother.

    Any additional comments?

I was gifted this audiobook for an honest review.<br/><br/>This story was a bit weird for me. I personally did not understand why Mac Bhriain was such a manwhore. I did not understand why Annora hated her mom so much. She shut down after two experiences that shaped her. She blamed her mom for everything that seemed to go wrong in her life. I think that Annora really like the fact that her mom treated her so badly. She felt like the only one that cared for her was her father and that everyone around her had it out for her. For me Annora was emotionally draining. I wanted to hit her and say 'Wake up!!! The world does not revolve around you and sometimes life sucks!'.<br/><br/>Over all this story was different and I liked that. Some of the characters I prefered over the others like David. I loved his character and I loved the hotel. Even though this book was different for me this story was a good one. It was funny at times and there was a good amount of sadism (which I could deal without).

    "Fantastic and dark"
What did you love best about Meeting with My Maker?

I loved the story and the characters. Unique and interesting storyline as well. There's also a good deal of dark humor which is right up my alley.

What did you like best about this story?

The interactions between Annora and Mac Bhriain.

Have you listened to any of Jeremie Burbey’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I would again in a heartbeat.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes. I was doubled over laughing at some parts and then others were making me cry.

    Any additional comments?

Loved this audio. I highly recommend giving this one a listen.

"you never know what the future may bring"

I enjoyed this audio book, it's characters and the narration. There were a few twists and turns along the way and some revelations that were a little suprising but added to the story line in an interesting way.
The characters are likeable and well written, the story line was developed and the chemistry between the two main characters was undeniable and intriguing.

"Checking in for Love with a Demon!"

Ok. First of be aware the cover is a bit misleading...this takes place in current times. That being said...this book was oddly fascinating. It is a story of finding your way back from the internal darkness you find yourself in from the horrible things life can throw at you but in a style I can only describe as a seedy version of Beatlejuice. It is not a comedy...this is a look at some hard issues.

There is drug use and the darker side of the bedroom but it was what you'd expect of a ancient demon of hell. It took a while but Mac Bhriain McCarrion grew on me. Annora is a real woman with a troubled past who blocked out the first half of her life's troubles (ignoring the obvious), and haunted by the second. I really wanted to see how this hotel would help to bring these two together for their HEA...yes I said the hotel.

If you are in the mood for a little kink with a totally unique storyline give this one a try.

I was given this book for an honest review.
