Publisher's summary

Three siblings searching for the truth about their family are about to find more than they bargained for.

When Tamara Allistair lost her family, she quickly learned that the only person she could rely on was herself. Now Tamara wants revenge against the man who wronged her. But going after a target with far-reaching connections is a dangerous gamble, and soon Tamara is the one being threatened.

A man with his own share of family issues, ex-marine C. J. MacNamara knows that protecting Tamara is the right thing to do. Keeping her safe is no easy task, but getting her to trust him is an entirely different challenge.

As Tamara attempts to right a wrong ten years in the making, C.J. puts his own life on the line to protect the woman who is more worthy of love than anyone he’s ever known.

Pulp Fiction

I really liked Lisa Gardner's books bun the first dd warren series due to the plots until she made her a mother and it changed the character too much. so I thought I would try this series . I don't mind a good sex scene, but I don't enjoy an entire novel of them, for that I could look under soft porn.

Good, but not great like the first book

This one was a little bit of a let down from the first book. It would have been better if I'd read this one first. Not a bad book, just a little predictable.

What a disappointment

I kept trying to listen to this book to find out what happened, but it was just way too annoying. Tamara has to be one of the most annoying characters I've encountered....alternating constantly between whining, attacking, loathing (self and others), lusting, rejecting, encouraging. I just wanted to slap her and couldn't imagine any man being attracted to her, let alone so patient with her. But the ridiculous sex scenes finally did me in. I like mysteries. I would buy Harlequin romances if I wanted this nonsense. I want my mind stimulated, not my libido. No more Lisa Gardner/Alicia Scott books for me. I didn't finish it....rare for me.

an amazing narrator

I really enjoy this narrator, she really does all of the female and male voices perfectly. I found the story interesting and riveting at times.

So dramatic

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would not recommend this book unless you like so much drama.. not just action but extreme drama.

How could the performance have been better?

Maybe a different narrator

Another good read

I like Lisa's books for their feeling of the person telling the story being centered and knowledgeable of the types of pain and confusion that all the characters are experiencing. Kate Rudd is also one of my favorite narrators. She has a clear voice and the ability to differentiate the characters enough to keep them separate.

Not Lisa Gardner’s norm

I wasn’t expecting and didn’t like all the very descriptive sex. I listen to my books while cooking, gardening or cleaning house with my cell phone with speaker on. Lisa Gardner’s books are usually really good mystery and detective novels. The story would have been just as good without the explicit sex

Gardner’s Worst

I am a big fan of this author, however this was one terrible book from the reader who seemed to yell every word to a story that was transparent and totally, even by fiction standards, unbelievable. Don’t let this book stop you...current evidence aside, Gardner is a good mystery writer.
