Publisher's summary

Beautifully written, poignant, and so sexy by USA Today best-selling author Lex Martin

How do you know whether you can trust someone?

Maggie Washington is used to relying on herself. Growing up in Iowa, her wild curls and parents who dumped her on her grandmother made it so she's never fit in. Skeptical of other people's motives, she's always been the fling or the friend. Looking to define her life after college, she's thrilled when she scores a choice summer job working in Yosemite National Park restoring habitat.

Court Thompson is a gorgeous (and bearded) forest ranger with a love-em and leave-em reputation. When he shows interest in her, she's torn. Even though she's flattered by his attention, she doubts his sincerity - and her ability to get out of the friend-zone.

Will Court be able to coax Maggie into trusting him that he's for real? Or after the summer of s'mores and skinny dipping, will he let her down like everybody else?

Visually beautiful story

Leslie McAdams always catches my attention with her self realization stories. This visually beautiful book takes us to Yosemite and through Maggie's journey to find herself. When Maggie comes to work for the summer, she plans on using her degree in botany and try to figure out what she wants to do with her life. She did not realize she may have found her calling and a handsome Park Ranger to warm her bed! I always enjoy McAdams writings, the paths she has her characters take are real and engaging. This one is particularly fun, not only for the relationship between Maggie and Court, but the visual of Yosemite as well as the fun these two have on their treks. Nothing like a good s'more and cheez-its to get you through(so much better than the squirrel, don't think I could stomach that!). Learning who she is, and discovering her path is not an easy task, and Maggie comes through the summer with a new outlook on her future. Truly a beautiful story.

Brought to life by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel, the book becomes a movie in your mind. With the incredible scenery and wonderful story, it is easy to see it with their performance. Each character portrayed has a specific voice and given it's own disposition. I love this team, you can feel the sparks fly when they narrate, always a pleasure to listen to.

My Two Pennies

Tor Thom has blown me away with the narration for this book and Charley Ongel is absolutely wonderful in the portrayal of Maggie. I never wanted to hit pause listening to these two together. Looking for a man that’s outdoorsy and oh so delicious? You need to be introduced to Court, this is a great novella that is filled with a great story line that will keep you entertained from the beginning through the very end. Maggie’s entire view on the things change dramatically once she crosses paths with Court. The chemistry is on all non stop and you can’t help but be pulled into their story. Great read that I highly recommend. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Cute, Sweet, and Sexy

Typically I don’t listen to shorter books, but I’m so happy I listened to this one. The story takes place over the course of a single summer, therefore the shorter story makes sense. Court and Maggie are an adorable couple. The narrators though, is where the Audible really shines. I can truly hear Maggie as a young college grad, and Tor Thom really makes the “mountain man” perfect!

Who knew a summer job could be such fun!

Maggie the female character has trust issues, raised by her grandmother and parents who are still deciding what to do with there lives you probably would to! So when she meets Court, the manwhore -ParkRanger that takes her breathe away in the beautiful Yosemite park and he wants you, at least for the summer? Why not, this is only a summer job, come fall she would be gone, and he can go back to Amanda, like she says “he always comes back to me”.
This novella would be excellent on an excursion to the beach or a rainy afternoon listen or read. I was given this sweet, funny and sexy story as a gift from the narrators Tor Thom and Charley Ongel, who did a fantastic job and of course the author Leslie McAdams thank you all.
PS, loved the skinny dipping scene, it shows Maggie coming out of her shell!

Story fun story

This was a short yet full story that was done by one of my favourite couple narrators. It was a believable story as well, and followed along quite well yet I wanted to learn more about the other characters as well.

Would have loved to experience a job like that where you’re part of a big group of like minded, young, fun friends.

Any time Court wants to show me around Yosemite National Park, I’m in🙋🏽‍♀️. Loved Maggie too, she is exactly how most of us gals would be overcoming new experiences. Great couple. Great narration.

Go ahead and grab this audiobook, you know ya wanna❣️

So, so

The book itself is more teen drama-ish with freshly graduated college students. Not my favorite style of writing but not bad. Female narrator is overly breathy for my preference (2*). Male narrator is much better in his delivery(3.5*).

Listened to audio before story

Some books I choose to listen to audio before book and I could tell I probably would have abandoned this story fast by chapter 3, however the narrators performance kept me intrigued. I’ve always enjoyed the combination of Tor and Charley but this novella really brought out a more natural connection in their voices

Forest Nerd

This was a good story. I do wish it was longer. The chemistry between Court and Maggie. Court helps Maggie see that she is perfect just the way she is. Tor did an amazing job providing providing feeling to all the male characters specially Court. Charley did an ok job. I just wish she did not read so dramatically . Other than that, it was a good story.

Not for me

Not my cup of tea. The story seemed stilted in parts and over rushed in others.
