Publisher's summary

What happens when different worlds collide and love gets caught in the middle?

Garrett Hamilton is the quintessential ladies' man, a sexy, wealthy corporate lawyer whose work keeps him far too busy to think about romance. Yet he's lost his drive to win cases and finds himself hopping on a plane to visit his brother at Last Frontier Lodge in Alaska. Delia Peters is a single mother who learned the hard way that lust often doesn't translate to love. She figures life is good enough if she can pay the bills. Love is the stuff of dreams, not real life.

Garrett has spent so many years driven almost entirely by his work that he's at loose ends. He's hoping an unplanned escape will refresh and renew him. He didn't count on Delia nearly bringing him to his knees with her unassuming beauty. One kiss and he's lost. A man whose career was built on his ability to spin any situation to his advantage finds himself stumbling when faced with a woman whose mere presence rattles his control.

Delia is finally finding some stability with a new job as the chef at the local ski lodge. She's so accustomed to the busy pace of single motherhood that the thought of romance hasn't crossed her mind in years. She's entirely unprepared for the scorching hot attraction between her and Garrett. One kiss sends her reeling...and wanting more than she ever imagined.

Delia and Garrett can't deny the depth of desire that simmers between them. Falling in love wasn't in the plan for either of them. Garrett is everything Delia dreamed of and more. Delia touches places in Garrett's heart that he hadn't known existed. Can Delia learn to trust in love? Can Garrett get out of his own way long enough to show Delia how much she matters?

Finding unexpected love

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that Garrett was trying to find a more peaceful way of living and was able to find it while visiting his family's ski lodge in Alaska.

What does Hollis McCarthy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Hollis McCarthy does a wonderful job with narrating the book. I really enjoy listening to her.

Any additional comments?

Garrett met single mother Delia on a previous visit. This time it was instant attraction that developed into love. It wasn't a smooth road and they needed to overcome some obstacles.
This is the second book in the series but you can listen to it without the previous one but it's much better listening to the first book first. I was given a free copy for my honest opinion.

I was waiting for Book 2!

This is Book 2 in the " Last Frontier Lodge" Series and I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. A nice romance with good characters and an interesting plot.

Delia is a hard working mom. She was not romantically involved since she had her son six years ago.
Garrett is a wealthy successful corporate lawyer that comes to Alaska looking for some peace and quiet.

The chemistry between Delia and Garrett is very entertaining!

The narrator did a great job making it easy to listen to this wonderful romance!

Love at Last

Love at Last: Last Frontier Lodge Novels, Book 2
: J.H. Croix

I don't listen to many contemporary romance books because of gratuitous sex scenes. This book had more than I like but weren't overly graphic. Hard working single mom hooks up with corporate lawyer and the story takes off. Kind of predictable plot, with a few kinks thrown in. If this is your normal genre, you'll probably like it.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed.

Single Mom Finds Love

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This was a sweet love story. It had some angst and quite a bit of internal dialogue which I like so I would recommend it to those who enjoy the same.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Love at Last?

I really liked that Garrett left everything behind to go to Alaska to figure out what he wanted in his life. Then he met Delia. The fact that she was a single mom didn't make him run away.

Which scene was your favorite?

I love the backdrop of the Alaskan wilderness. Who doesn't like the idea of romance in a cabin or in the wilderness.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This is a feel good - easy read. IMO best to read if you need a rest from a book hangover.

Any additional comments?

The narrator Hollis was great! Her voices were amazing. I could see her doing MC books.

Love this series

J. H. Croix continues to bring us angst, incredible romance and hot sex at the Last Frontier Lodge. This book introduces us to Gage's brother Garrett, a high powered corporate lawyer who has reached his limit of working the corporate scene. He comes to the lodge to try and figure out his life, and meets up again with Delia. There is instant chemistry, but with Delia, you have to be all in. She is a single mom and needs to be careful. There are some twist and turns in their road to happily ever after, but you will need to read it to see how it all plays out. I especially loved that Garrett would consult his twin sister Becca for advice on his life. With the number of brothers that he has, I think it's wonderful that he confides in his sister who is completely no nonsense. Looking forward to the next one(will it be Becca and Aiden?)

Hollis McCarthy is an amazing narrator, bringing life to whatever she reads. Her performance of this series is perfect, bringing you right to Alaska and into the lives of this family.

Single Mom Wins All

Garrett Hamilton, is a hotshot Seattle lawyer who has a crisis of conscience after a big win at trial, so he clears his calendar, packs up his bags and heads back home to Alaska to think about his future. There he meets single mom Delia Peters who helps run the kitchen at the lodge his family owns.

This is the type of book that I like to listen to after I’ve listened to a more intense book,
it’s just a sweet love story, has a fair amount of heat and I found it enjoyable. There’s a bit too much internal musing and Garrett not making his feelings very clear to Delia, which causes the book to drag a little in the middle and seemed a tad bit contrived, but overall I was happy with the way it turned out. The narration by Hollis McCarthy was good and easy to follow, the audio quality could have been better but it wasn't too distracting.

This book is part of a series and it's the second book in the series, I will definitely be checking out the first book, the Gage and Marley story sound interesting! So if you’re looking for a light read this audiobook just might fit the bill.

Sex interferred with the story

This book was given to me in exchange for an unbiased review. this was an excellent story but the sex kept getting in the way. This is the second story in the series. Garret and Deliah's story. Garret a corporate attorney wins an insurance case and can't stand himself so he travels to his home in Alaska. the story was well written. The narrator was good but she put me to sleep several times. The story ended well and I enjoyed their interaction and how well garret interacted with Deliah's son Nick. Also glad that Nick got to know his grandmother even if his father was not the best person.
