Sigh...I hate that it is over...

I listened to this title in one day...yep all the way through.

The story is just so well told, engaging, complicated, heartbreaking, captivating, beautiful. There really aren't enough adjectives to describe this. Truly, romance at it's very best.

Lorraine Heath is a talanted story teller and the narrator again gives life to these haunting characters. I only hate that there weren't four, five, six..or ten Lost Lord's of Pembroke to come home. You want to hate these callused Lords, but can't help but feel for the pain they endured growing up. I have read some novels where the author way over does it on the tortured hero mark, but Lorraine Heath found the perfect balance in these tales.

This story gives meaning to the reasons why I read historical romance. If she writes more like this one...I will download without hesitation.

AT LAST THE LOST LORDS HAVE ALL BEEN FOUND

What a lovely end to this well written Regency trilogy about 3 young boys who were forced to separate in order to save themselves from being killed by their greedy Uncle. But, unfortunately as they grew-up each boy knew only pain and suffering in one form or another which left them with mental and/or physical scars.

This was Rafe's bitter-sweet emotional heartbreaking story as he purchases Evelyn one night from her evil half brother in order to act as his full-time mistress but sadly, she is totally unaware of this. However, Evelyn is drawn to this tall dark handsome stranger and decides to make a go of it and her loving nature slowly begins to break down the walls around his heart and, as the sad story of his childhood unfolds, we learn and finally understand, why it has left him with a tortured guilty mind and a dead heart.

The storyline draws you in from the start and, although Rafe starts off being dislikeable you know that he's about to change thanks to the love of a good woman. A thoroughly enjoyable story as the two learn to trust each other and secrets are shared - but just as a bond begins to form between them a past enemy comes back to break things up.

Worth a credit? If you like being mentally taken away on an emotional historical romance that has some interesting, damaged, likeable or just plain evil characters then press the ADD TO CART button on this book, and if you've missed the other two books, purchase them as well because it's been a really great trilogy.

The Best Book of the Trilogy

This was the 3rd book in the series and the best book. 3 brothers (all Lords) were seperated as children when their crazy uncle tried to killl them all when they were young. One brother escaped to the sea, another brother escapted to the army, and Rafe, the baby, was sent to the workhouses. As adults years later, they were determined to to take their proper place in society. The characters really draw you in - its engaging, complex, capitativing, and wonderful. You want to learn more about the characters.

Rafe's story is emotional and heartbreaking, and despite his hard exterior, he is a really good person who felt alone in the world. He worked his way out of the workhouses to later own a Gentlemen's Club and became a very wealthy man.

Evelyn's evil and broke step-brother planned to sell her to one of his buddies as his mistress. Rafe stepped in and purchased her to save her from a disgusting man, and he took her to his home. He gave her a choice on the role he offered to her as his mistress, and he gives her time to get use to the idea of being his mistress. Rafe starts falling for Evelyn's sweet and kind nature. She starts knocking the walls down around his heart. They struggled with finding trust and love in each other, but in th end it was beautiful. This was one of the best books that I have read in some time. it was emotional, passioinate, and breautiful. Ms. Heath is an excellent author!

The Best Yet!

I've read or listened to most of Lorraine Heath's books and this one was the best yet. It's 2am, and I stayed up this late to finish the book. I'm taking a few minutes now to write a review because the book is that good.

The story was believable, the characters were people I instantly wanted to know more about. I cared about them. That's how I recognize the mark of great writing.

I can't say enough good things about Faye Adele's performance as narrator. And it was truly a superb performance. I'm going to actively search out more narrations by her.

clever and engaging

Any additional comments?

A wonderful story of love and triumph. A conniving half brother, a Lord with wicked intentions and an innocent woman make for a great love story. I admire women that don't give up and do what they must to survive but then they do even better. They rise beyond. I highly recommend this book.

OMG!! Such a great book to end a series.

This 3rd and final installment of the Lost Lords of Pembrook series was just fantastic! Loved every bit of it. The narrator was superb!! The entire series is fantastic. I posted in my last review the order of books and will do so again for guidance. Keep in mind the first book is not available on audible yet but I read it and it was wonderful too.

Love conquers all!!

What made the experience of listening to Lord of Wicked Intentions the most enjoyable?

I really enjoyed this endearing love story between Lord Rafe Eason and Evelyn Chambers. With the death of her beloved father, Evelyn’s merciless and debt-ridden half-brother hosts a party to sell her to the highest bidder among the gentry. The naïve Evelyn mistakenly assumes the gentlemen have assembled to offer for her hand in marriage. In spite of his normal indifference, the handsome and wealthy Lord Rafe Eason is immediately attracted to the naïve beauty and wins her as his mistress. When she is delivered to his estate and learns her fate, the agonized Evelyn flees to her home and is inconsolable when she is not allowed entry. A ruthless businessman, Lord Eason’s typically unshakable veneer begins to crack when he follows Evelyn, finds her crumpled at her half-brother’s doorstep, and gently returns her to his mansion. The story is well written and engaging as Evelyn seeks to understand the contradictions between Rafe’s protective patience with her and his bitterness toward his family. The love story evolved very believably and naturally.

I have not read the first books in the Lost Lords of Pembroke series and definitely plan to download Lord of Temptation next. However, this book stands alone and is easy to follow without having read the earlier entries.

Any additional comments?

Lorraine Heath is an extraordinary writer and Faye Adele is an exceptional narrator.

Really Disliked the Narrator

I seldom write reviews, but I would strongly urge listeners to Lorraine Heath's three "Pembrook" books, read by Faye Adele, to purchase hard copies of the books rather than listen to the audio versions. Ms. Adele, unless she's speaking dialogue, almost whispers her narration. I often had to adjust the volume on my device because her voice sometimes got so soft and low that it sounded like gravel. The sound quality of all three books in this series was pretty bad -- I had the treble turned all the way up on my device, and the bass turned off in order to listen to Ms. Adele's narration. Perhaps she was too far away from her microphone, as she sounded muffled as well as too whispery. Changing devices and re-downloading didn't help. I will avoid all books narrated by Faye Adele in the future.

I did stick it out with Faye Adele through the three books in the Pembrook series. The stories were very enjoyable, as is usual for Lorraine Heath. Ms. Heath continues to be my favorite author of this genre.
