Publisher's summary

Nondescript "good girl" Miss Camellia Grenville only ever opens her mouth when forced to sing at her family's musicales. That is, until the night she infiltrates the ton's most scandalous masquerade ball on behalf of her sister, and finds herself in the arms - and the bed - of the one man she'd sworn to hate.

Irresistibly arrogant and unapologetically sensuous, infamous rake Lord Wainwright always gets his way. When he accepts a wager to turn his rakish image respectable in just 40 days, he never anticipates falling for an anonymous masked lover...or that discovering her identity would destroy them both.

In the Rogues to Riches historical romance series, Cinderella stories aren't just for princesses... Sigh-worthy Regency rogues sweep strong-willed young ladies into whirlwind romance with rollicking adventure.

Superb

Bravo, Erica Ridley. You've done it again.
This is an absolutely delightful and cheeky story where the hero just can't live down his rakish past.
His unthoughtful words cause Camellia's sister to lose a substantial amount of money that would have helped her with her home for young ladies giving them second chances in life and then he and Camellia have a word sparring tiff. So there are already bad vibes between them.
Then he saves Camellia from another's unwanted attention at a masquerade ball and finds himself falling head over heels in love with her. He Is totally floored because he doesn't know what to do about this and neither of them know who the other person really is as they are all masked at these balls.
This is such a super love story and it is told by Erica Ridley in her usual way, engrossing, endearing, enjoyable and easy to read and and the narration by Marion Hussey's narration is the cherry on the top. I heartily recommend both the ebook and the audio version.

An amazing story!

This audio book is one of the most amazing stories spoken! Erica Ridley's wonderful story brought to life by the melodic voice of Marian Hussey is truly a masterpiece!

Ms. Hussey speaks with clarity and never too fast or slow. The tempo of her speech is perfection.

This is one of the best performed books I have ever heard!

Behind the Mask

Where do you find the love of your life? Why at the most decadent masquerade in London, of course. When Michael and Camellia meet at the masquerade as Lord and Lady X, they like each other. Each has discovered someone to talk to and be comfortable with, a friend. Outside in real life - not so much. Camellia and her sisters do not like Lord Wainwright (his reputation, you know). Lord Wainwright has never even noticed Camellia. That’s going to change. Michael and Camellia’s story is full of soul searching and humor. The story line is simple and fun. The main characters, actually all of the characters, are loveable and real. The two younger sisters are delightful. You will love discovering if Michael wins his wager, if Camellia follows her dream, and if the Earl can convince the “mousy” Grenville girl to become his Countess.

I enjoy listening to Marion Hussey. Her narration is wonderful, and her voices spot on. In the scene when Mama informed Camellia of her impending betrothal, Marion Hussey made her sound arrogant, prissy, and giddy (all at the same time) while delivering her “good news.”

Lord of Pleasure is indeed a pleasure.

Great Love Story with Wonderful Narration!

What a great love story - I had previously read the book & then got the audio version. Marian Hussey's narration was wonderful & only enhanced Erica Ridley's story of Lady & Lord X. I highly recommend this to any historical romance fan!

What a fabulous book

Where does Lord of Pleasure rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

He is number two on my list now. I very much enjoyed listening to his story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lord Wainwright. He is definitely an irresistible rake.

Have you listened to any of Marian Hussey’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to the first book in this series and she did a great job in both.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The scene where H and h meet at the masquerade in the dark and were able to just be themselves.

Any additional comments?

I am hooked on the series and will listen to more.

Enchanting...

Eat your heart out Cinderella, you've just met your match. Camellia is a late bloomer, but when she breaks free her wallflower status quickly falls by the wayside. A masquerade ball, a sexy rake, a scandalous wager and liaison take her from the shadows to the spotlight. Her heart and reputation will never be the same. Lord of Pleasure dances it way into a classic as it scandalizes and romances as it succeeds in casting an enchanting spell.

Absolutely fantastic

If you could sum up Lord of Pleasure in three words, what would they be?

A fantastic ride

What was one of the most memorable moments of Lord of Pleasure?

I absolutely loved Lord of Pleasure. The scenes at the Masquerade Ball were wonderfully romantic. Lord Wainwright, a know rake, lives to be himself at the Ball. Hidden behind a mask, he feels he can finally be himself. Amelia, a bluestocking spinster, attends the ball as a last hoorah and falls madly in love with the masked man. But without the mask, she can't stand Lord Wainwright. He is arrogant and careless with his words. Will they be together somehow?

What does Marian Hussey bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Marian Hussey does a phenomenal job reading this book. She brings a great depth of emotion and humor.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I had a difficult time walking away from the book back to real life.

Any additional comments?

I highly recommend this audible book. Erica Ridley hits it out of the ball park.

Very entertaining.

The two main characters, Camillia and Wainwright, are two people who wish to make a change in their lives. Camellia wishes she could be bolder instead of the dutiful daughter she has always been. She always puts others before herself. Camillia's sisters are more outspoken and at times outrageous but they all have a love for each other. Their interactions were engaging. The mother is absolutely dreadful! Wainwright is attempting to mend his rakish ways. He meets Camellia at the masquerade and they develop feelings for each other but will this last when they discover each other's identity. Marion Hussey is an excellent narrator, her voice is easy to listen to and she certainly brings the characters to life. I spent a very enjoyable time listening to this story. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it.

Crap! I listened to this one before!

I must not have been too impressed since I didn’t remember this book. I hate wasting a credit. I generally rely on the message that tells me that “this book is in my library” before I purchase it, unfortunately I didn’t receive a message. I suppose I deleted the first purchase rather than archiving. Ok complaining is over. This was an easy listen, uncomplicated with pleasing characters. It took Camellia an inordinate amount of time to grow a backbone. Wainwright was less annoying than most of the male leads. All in all it was a pleasing, albeit, forgettable story. The narrator saved it so I will recommend based on her reading.

Charming

I’m reading more than one series by Erica Ridley, and I really enjoy her sense of humor. I thought this particular story had a couple of gaps in the mental arguments each character had, but overall still very well-written.

The narrator served the story and humor well, and has a lovely tone.
