Publisher's summary

Personal and professional stakes are raised as a counterterrorism expert and a terrorist assassin race against time and their enemies, toward a second chance at love. No matter how far and how fast you run, the truth is never far behind.

CIA counterterrorism expert Manuel Ramirez has spent the last three years looking for the woman he loves, who disappeared without a trace while on a postgraduate trip to France. Then, as suddenly as she disappeared, Jules Trehan turns up in a small-town Colorado hospital bed, injured in an explosion that killed her parents. Manny is shocked by the change in the woman he once knew. Kidnapped by a shadowy organization, Jules has been forced to become the very thing he's pledged his life to defeat - a terrorist assassin.

Knowing her testimony will finally bring down the organization, Manny races to get her to Washington in one piece. But just when there's a glimmer of hope of overcoming her past, Jules must pull off one last job or Manny's life will be forfeit. It's a mission she must complete…even if it means betraying the only man she has ever loved.

Not the best kinda slow

Ive read/ listened to MANY of Mayas books and this is my least favorite. Kinda slow and felt like the story didnt go far. It may have been the narrator as well as all the characters sounded the same and the emotion was lacking. All in all i was ready for it to be over.

yuck

I like some Maya Banks books but not this one. If, like me, you want romances that don't include rape, avoid this one.

Great story

The story is great, never knowing the villans until the end but the narration was a bit overdone. Too dramatic and over acted at times but I still recommend the book.

I love, love, love this book-KGI Style

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Long Road Home

I love, love, love this book. It is more like MB KGI series then the Sweet series. More action, adventure and enough romance to keep you interested if you are the romantic sort.

I am unaware if this is a book in a series. I hope so because it is a good start. If you have listened to a lot of MB books you will notice some of the phrases and terms that are familiar, but not too many. The story is a standalone. I do hope she continues with this though.

Narrator, Rebecca Estrella I have heard before. She has narrated one of my favorite series. The trick with Rebecca is that you need to set your reader to a faster speed. I find that 1.5 or 2X is the best for me.

Rebecca is able to give each character a voice. I do think she did a better job with this book than the others I've listened to. She is a narrator, not a performer. She is steady & I do think she stepped it up a notch this one.

Note: Mature themes, strong language and some violence

Credit/ $ Worthy: Yes, yes this is creditworthy and yes worth to pay cash. MB's books are usually pretty reasonable to inexpensive.

Good story terrible narrator

What did you love best about Long Road Home?

The story was pretty good. I thought I knew who the villain was going to be but I was wrong. Not as steamy as Maya's other work. More of a romantic suspense.

What did you like best about this story?

The relationship between the h and h was very sweet.

How could the performance have been better?

Anything would have made it better. If she had gotten hiccups in the middle it would have been better. It sounded like it was being read by a robot...a robot whose batteries needed changing.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No. It was just a good read story.

Any additional comments?

Save your audible money. Read this story when you have time to sit down with your Kindle. The narration took a lot of the enjoyment out of a nice story.
