Publisher's summary

From USA TODAY Bestselling Author, C. L. Stone, listen to Liar, the second book in The Academy Scarab Beetle Series.

Worse than a thief, is a liar.

Kayli Winchester can finally let go of her thieving past and for once walk on the right side of the law. She's had enough of the hustle and is determined to become the good girl. But her brother, Wil, is still missing.

On the hunt for him, she discovers something worse than a missing sibling: Marc, Raven, Axel, Corey and Brandon. These aren't just scoundrels with hearts of gold. They're flat-out criminals. But they're criminals who need her. In a ruse to draw them away from her brother and learn more about this so-called Academy, Kayli joins them on a mission to Florida in search of a missing little girl.

Kayli will do anything to make sure her brother is safe. She'll find their leader. She'll discover their intentions. She'll infiltrate their ranks. And if they try to threaten her brother or herself, she'll burn them all.

But when these five hot Academy teammates all contend for her heart, her resistance starts to crumble. Maybe she wasn't meant to be the good girl, anyway.

Excellent!

Really enjoyed this story, terrific plot, and the characters are fantastic. I liked the narration, but sometimes I couldn't tell which character was speaking. Especially when she used a male southern accent. But it was a minor thing. Overall it was Excellent.

Liar, the Academy,, book 2

I really like the story line. I went from book 1 into book 2. However, I'm flustered that book 2 starts with Kalie learning her brother has run away, and the book ends with him still gone. Throughout this book, she is so worried about her brother, but stays with her Academy guy friends on yet another mission in another state.
And what's with her emotions with each and every man she's with. She is way too fickle. She acts like a ping bong ball in an arkaide game. I'm getting tired of her 'immature attitude. If book 3 is much of the same in her attitude, it will be my last one. No matter how good the story line is!!

Loving this series!!

C.L. Stone just keeps getting me hooked into the Academy storylines over and over again! And Megan Tusing does a great job with all the characters.

Party of 5...6 or 7?

I liked this book but it was a little slow. The best part was the ending when we get more of an insight of Corey. For a group of guys who are supposed to be close, no one communicates at all. Good grief Corey’s twin brother doesn’t even know about him. These guys take lack of communication to the next level. In my house we call it Party of 5 when nobody talks to each other and just makes assumptions just like the people on the TV show. It’s annoying. Other than that the kinda introduction of Blake into the group is interesting. Now she has 6 guys going after her affections. I wonder how this will play out? Are they willing to share? Is she willing to pick or walk away? Hopefully more will reveal itself in the next book. Downloading it now....

Love.

I love these stories. It is innocent with a bit of sexiness and crime solving. Beautiful stories and wonderfully performed.

Trust

CL's Academy Series continues with Kayli doubting everything she thinks she knows about the boys and the Academy.

Are they really the good guys or has she been played for a fool. With Will missing and Blake resurfacing with disturbing information she wonders who she can trust.

As she searches for the truth whilst trying to avoid getting closer to the team they go on a road trip to Florida on a mission.

This book was equal parts frustrating and compelling as we learn more about the boys especially Axel's early days. I found Kayli's behaviour disturbing but somewhat understandable.

A good book but not as good as Thief. I will continue listening to the rest of the series as I am falling in love with Axel and his team.

I listened for free with Audible Escape.

I love this series…

but hate Coltar. I don’t understand why Kaylee trusts him. He always causes problems. He’s similar to the Volto character in the Ghost Bird series to me. Sometimes well meaning, but usually just making everything more complicated than it needs to be because he’s looking out for himself.

Kind of Annoying

I love the Ghost Bird Series! So I decided to try this book series, and so far it's kind of luke warm getting cold quickly. Kayleigh is super flighty as Axel points out, but the fact that she is so easily swayed is even more annoying. She has a habit of repeating herself, and honestly its not cute at all. The academy will answer her questions then she doesn't believe them so she'll ask another 8 times. DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED WITH KULTAR! I find myself just getting really irritated at her choices and wanting to turn off the books, but I love Axel, Mark, Kory, Brandon and Raven, I do want to know what happened to Will, and I also want to see what happens with Kevin and the group. So even though Kayleigh is super annoying, im invested in the books.

I also LOOOVVVEEE that the Ghost bird series has some Crossover. I just wish She was more like Sang, I can see why Kota and the boys love Sang. Its super hard to understand why these boys like Kayleigh.
